- The day's biggest move of the NBA trade deadline was between Brooklyn and Philadelphia. The 76ers traded Ben Simmons to the Nets in exchange for James Harden and Paul Millsap. Brooklyn also received Seth Curry, Andre Drummond and two first-round picks. Emmanuel Acho and Marcellus Wiley share their thoughts on the trade.

It was a trade of a guy who quit on his team for a guy who quit on his last two teams. Who knows what either team gets out of either guy. The 76ers gave up way too much though imo.

How Harden quit whens he's played more games since he got there then Durant and kyrie' and Harden didn't want to go to the anyway' he wanted to go to Philly last yr' but Brooklyn had more assets, the nets have alot of questions to answer, and the Sixers can now run fast breaks and we got spot up shooters everywhere, 2 all defensive players' most dominant center and elite playmaking guard' and now Maxey moves to his normal position as a scoring guard' and he's shooting 38% from 3' and can create his own shot, everyone in our starting lineup is a 3pt shooter and knockdown free throw shooters' Sixers are going to be tough to beat,

I just want to say when Harden had CP3 and didn’t like the outcome what happened ? He quit playing D and wouldn’t even try to engage in the offense. When he didn’t like the outcome of playing with Russ what happened ? He quit. When Houston didn’t want to trade him ? He put on a fat suit and quit. When the Nets didn’t want to trade him ? He faked an injury and quit. Ijs man it looks good but so did the other times.

This is the perfect situation for Ben. He doesn’t have to shoot on this team. The whole issue in Philadelphia was how Ben wants to play in the paint but Embiid is there. Ben can play in the paint all he wants on Brooklyn with no worries about clogging the lane. Ben is going to be a better offensive version of Draymond for the Nets.
The Nets just turned into Golden State. Ben is now Draymond.
Wait till you see Ben Simmons day to day, and perhaps in the playoffs. He can’t shoot and can’t finish at the rim to save his life. Nobody has to guard him without the ball. And with the ball, his guy can double without any fear of a jump shot.
People in NY are going to be shocked at how bad a basketball player he is. They’ll be asking how he ever got all star votes.

Ben Simmons has a fatal flaw in his game and was on a team that didn't cater to that. We'll definitely see the best version of him on the Nets. Hopefully he can get his mindset right though.

@@victorpetrescu6586 that flaw is covered up in Brooklyn. With the Nets he had to share the lane with Embiid but with the Nets he can play the paint all he wants. And the Nets fanbase isn’t going to grill him for not scoring 20 ppg because he will be the 3rd or even 4th option. Perfect place for Ben.
Ben simmons is super fast. He can run the floor really well, both as a facilitator and a fastbreak scorer. He moves like a guard, but can defend like a center.
Simmons can only score and assist in transition, he has no half court offense and player lay off him so doesn't create any easy buckets for anyone

He could either take the ball to the rim or kick it to the corner where he'll potentially have KD, Kyrie, Seth, Patty, or Kessler Edwards. He can also cut to the rim when at team tries to run a double at either KD or Kyrie.
He can’t guard centers.
@@tarrellmahan3962 not really true because of how the net team is you now can have Ben be around the rim. And one thing Ben is good at is scoring inside. Kd and kyrie outside shooting and scoring while Ben getting put backs and being around the rim. So that what he is doing in the half court and then you add is transition offense with him and kyrie.
Hack a Ben will come in the 4th quarter of games...we'll see how he responds to that...
Last I heard, the NBA hasn’t changed the rules which stopped Harden from being a flop-everywhere-to-draw-fouls scorer. As for the Nets, they don’t need Simmons to be ball-dominant OR score a ton. If they get back the All-Defensive + can-play-PG-when-Kyrie-is-out Simmons then the Nets will be fine.
It's kind of the same situation for Simmons I just think the issue was that came playoff time he became a liability on the court not wanting to score. He was scoring in the regular season.
@@lxgxndxry24 Facts, but this could be what's best for Kyrie and KD. In Philly only Embid can get his own shot, so you can lay off of Simmons and double up on Embid. Now that's very difficult to do to Kyrie and KD for a 7 game series (considering they are healthy and Vaccinated). And if you try it, then Seth Curry is open who is a 40% three point shooter.
This is a big gamble by Nets! Simmons has big mental issues...and winning NBA basketball is 90% mental! All the greats will tell you that!

@@sellout4102 -- Ben couldn't play with Embiid because he didn't want to. Embiid and Simmons on the court together had a top 5 net rating together every year they played together.
They could play together. Simmons just didn't want to and Simmons didn't improve to make the combination even better.
Nets won in the long term due to getting all those pieces. Who knows if Harden and Embiid will actually be cohesive? For all we know, Harden will just dip once he gets the chance like he did in his previous 2 teams.

Ben Simmons can play the Draymond Green role on the nets. Set screens, move the ball around and make the right pass. Also he can be a Draymond who can potentially be a great interior scorer if he gets rid over the mental block, and he already is one of the best transition player in the league. He can do a WHOLE lot on the offensive end!
I agree that Ben Simmons could fill a Draymond green role but there’s one piece missing, and that’s the Warriors offensive system. Draymond does Draymond things because Steph plays off the ball and has so much gravity, I don’t think Kyrie and KD do that here in Brooklyn. Will be interesting to how they fit him in though

there is a big difference between harden and ben , one stayed in Texas for many years doing extraordinary seasons without winning asked for a trade in search of the same because he was already in his 30s , the other accepted a maximum contract and refused to play and showed a lack of professionalism in training and towards the team, harden did not accept any maximum contract with either houstoun or the nets before asking for a trade.

Nets lost Kyrie to injury in last years playoffs. Harden was playing on one leg. Those injuries kept them from cooking the Bucks. All I'm saying is when they do play together, they dominate (13-3). The in court formula works is all I'm saying.

Skip Bayless is right: fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice shame on me. James Harden went into fits to get out of an organization. In Houston he was given the keys to the city, choked in the playoffs, and then whines and wants out. In Brooklyn he was given the keys (somewhat) to the city with KD and Irving out and he's playing poorly. James Harden will not be the focal point in Philly and he'll choke, along with Doc Rivers, in the playoffs.
What's poorly about 23-8-10 a game, and he's played more games than kyrie and Durant since he got to the nets, Harden said that he didn't want to have to carry a team like he did for yrs at Houston' but Durant can't stay healthy' and kyrie just started playing and only on the road' Harden been carrying Brooklyn all season, and Harden aint quit on Houston' he said he was going through another rebuild he wants to win now' he earned the right to say trade me' and Harden just like in Houston he stayed quiet and continued to play ball until he got traded, LeBron and Davis quit on there teams, LeBron has quit on every team he's been on,
He was in Houston for 8 years. The only reason the Nets are even in the playoff conversation is due to Harden.

i also think wiley yet again won this agurement, acho just got caught up with the negatives of Ben's shooting ability as if he was supposed to replace harden and become him literly. not ralising that philly has their own issues and forgetting that Ben simmions is great at other things. then when wiley brought up Ben's defense as something that the nets can now use, acho attacks him like all he will be is a "180mil lockdown defender", forgetting that Ben almost won DPY, can legit play in a system, be a triple double guy, and is willing to hustle and be a team player. acho also forgetting that Ben has two all time scorers on his team, and a fellow 3 to 5 other guys who can also get buckets. wiley really took this dub. love the show
