  • The Golden State Warriors are scheduled to take on the Portland Trail Blazers Wednesday night. Ahead of the matchup between the two Western Conference foes, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr was quoted saying 'I think Steph in a lot of ways is like Michael Jordan.' Kerr a former teammate of Jordan won a championship with the Bulls in 1997 as a player and won three as Warriors head coach. Marcellus Wiley and Emmanuel Acho debate if it is 'crazy' to compare Michael Jordan to Stephen Curry.

Jordan wasn't the first to fly, he didn't invent the dunk, but he had kids around the world trying to do it. Curry wasn't the first to shoot the ball, and he didn't invent the 3pt shot, but he has kids around the world doing it. I think it's fair to compare their impact on the game

All I can say on the topic is that, like Kerr said, I stopped being interested in NBA basketball after Jordan retired. I started getting interested again when Curry came into the league. Now, I hardly miss a GSW game for the same reason I rarely missed a televised Jordan game. It’s a sight to behold.

I think Kerr is saying they both do so many amazing things every game that people take it for granted

Just goes to show, this year, next year, 20 years from now, Jordan is the standard and will always be the one people will compare other great players with

When Jordan played on WGN and you could see every game, he was the most breathtaking athlete I’ve ever seen.

MJ was such a great offensive player it makes people forget that he was a top 5 defender when he played.

its a crazy conversation but a comparison is easy steph changed the game with his 3s and jordan changed the game with his athleticism - the rest you better dont compare or its getting wild

Curry ain’t top 10? Man is out of his mind. The greatest shooter of all time with multiple MVPs and championships should EASILY be top 10.

What ppl don't realize is the affect Curry has on players he plays with. He makes everyone better just by creating space, he spreads the court so much. Name one player that left the Warriors that played better than he did with him and that includes KD!

So many people missed it smh. That interview with MJ and Steph last summer at the Ryder Cup. Mike blessed him. Then that back of the head rub at the NBA 75th anniversary. Mike bestowed him. Both change the trajectory of the NBA. No other players have done so. Coach Kerr was correct

Acho started off with BS, prior to MJ the league was dominated by the big men and no scoring leaders lead teams to championships. MJ changed that and his on the court greatness took the game global. Curry is what kids wanna be today true but he’s not on MJs level.

Sending 💐 to Wiley and Acho. So many of these shows are shouting matches on whose hot take is hottest. With these two, I love their analysis, analogues and nuance to their arguments.

At least they aren't comparing LeBron to MJ anymore. That debate has been put to bed.

We have to take into account that the NBA changed the rules to allow for more offense and higher scoring …the counter argument would be, what if MJ had the benefit of today’s NBA no touch no defense rules? MJ’s impact on basketball itself and all sports as a matter of fact on and off the court/field is incomparable!!!
