Barcelona’s new president Joan Laporta has pledged to restore the reputation of La Masia and make it “the backbone of the club's values”.
So how could he do that? How big is the job he has? How will he do it with the current cohort of Barcelona first-team players?

Can you do an in depth video explaining why most no.9s have been underperforming at Chelsea in the last 2 decades. It has mostly been wingers and midfielders who have excelled at Chelsea. For example Morata, Falcao, Torres, Higuain, Sidwell, Kezman, Bouhlarouz and maybe Timo Wenner.

@Ariean Troy you can't go with the hype..either a player is good or he is bad, and the point they become great players is when they have more trophies show, Xavi didn't win a CL until he was 27, and people didn't really hype him up until Guardiola came in. It's the same reason why people in social media just slap around the world "Generational Talent" around players like Phil foden etc..even though we know pedri is more or less at a higher level than foden ever was at 18 yrs old, foden is a great you g talent but he was a substitution for man city at pedris age who is starting for barca every week. It's really hard for young players to mature now a days, one day you are the best in the world and the next day they are over hyped.

Nonsense, to think that Xavi and Iniesta were like a one time thing is perfectly fine, but if you simply take away the benchmark of the class of the legends, then La Masia has produced certain talents that have either gone uutilized or have had to leave the club under previous leaderships.
Xavi Simmons was supposed to be a future Barca captain, so much so that half of the academy directors put personal leadership hours on him.
Carles Alena looked generationally good while at La Masia, if u take his performances at academy level only, he was seen as the most gifted player from the academy since Messi.
Alex Collado playing for Barca B is a disgrace, man has invoked comparisons with Leo Messi and has a similar flair with his playstyle. Sadly, he plays the same zone as trincao.
Konrad at 17, already starts for the USMNT.
Mngueza is a perfect example of how one needs very less luck and flair to succeed at barca. He was seen as a 3rd or 4th choice even at Youth level yet his determination has shown that he is taking a very similar path to a certain Carles Puyol, going from a fullback to Centre Back after being dismissed at youth levels.
Riqui Puig already showed how gifted he is last season, a typical barca gene midfielder. Rumour has it that he banged koeman's wife so he isnt being played.
Ilaix moriba made the Spain youth team benches even when he was still at Barca B
So did Arnau Tenas, considered the hottest goalkeeping prospect in Spain.
Gavi is only 16 and has already been scouted by none other than Luis Enrique thrice.
Iniaki Pena may not be tenas level gifted but is a solid young backup goalie.
not to mention talesnts like Olmo, Icardi, Thiago, Traore etc that left the club too

Sell unwanted players -> clear debt -> spend very less in market ( only buy a few quality players who can surely give atleast 5 years of service) -> increase funding for youth academy -> have confidence in your youth ( it's okay if we don't win the league every time ) -> you'll start to get results soon ...
I know this ain't as easy as it sounds like... It is a 10 year project I think ...
But Barcelona will have to let go the BIG CLUB status for a while in order to make the youth thrive ...
Barca weren't the best club when Iniesta , messi, Busquets, Cesc , pique broke into seens ... Barca were a great team then ... But had enough space for the young players ... Such a thing should happen now ...

it was a golden generation of Spanish players best on a older system in the 90s of actually using youth players in the first team and holding onto them for the majority of their career. we are talking about a national team which dominated football for at least 6 years and on club level for the best part of a decade. I don't see them reaching that standard again however maybe there is something in international recruitment and getting the best youngster in world football with a clear progressive plan into the various first teams. There are also factors which have changed one positive being brexit uk clubs are no longer allowed to sign under 18 European players directly no there is less competition from these club hovering these players. Barcelona for all their problems still has a effective academy

La Masia is in this way a microcosm for global youth football and England could definitely take note. I wish Chelsea had protected Lampard. Several other managers dream (or pretend to dream) of actually promoting youth talent, but Lampard was the only one actually doing it, actually giving these prospects careers.
Focusing purely on Mason Mount, Lampard was criticised and heckled time and over for repetitively playing Mount but had the guts and nous to stick to his guns where weaker men would’ve keeled to the pressure. Because of Lampard, Mount is now ranked as the 10th most valuable player in the world and was arguably Chelsea’s most important cog in their Champions League victory. He’s rightfully rated as one of the best players in Europe. That’s great. It’s just a shame that Lampard had to feel the force of the axe for the world to realise Mount’s talent. I know Chelsea have a penchant for doing that, I know they’re only ever about the short term, but they could’ve been trendsetters and established a real club ethos and chose not to.
We need more coaches like Lampard, who protect youth. We need to protect them much more in this country if we’re going to get a better league and a better national team. The only other coach I know of is Mowbray at Blackburn who is trying it, at least within the top two tiers. I know this isn’t strictly related to La Masia but it just suggests a lot of home truths that can be applied universally to youth football. Other leagues would do well to implement the same as well. Trust and faith won’t just get La Masia back. It’ll get all the academies churning out great talents.

While not on Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Puyol, or Busi levels yet! There are so many great gems coming through with Ansu Fati, Ilaix Moriba, Riqui Puig, Oscar Mingueza, and Eric Garcia. But, for them to flourish, they need time, and that time is by far the most excruciating period for the club that might see Barcelona never winning anything. So the answer is it's up to fans and club owners (Socios in this case) again. Winning is important but is it enough to lose it's ideal? Or is it sufficient for people to only watch a beautiful play like what Johan Cruyff said?

Barca has always been a team that dependa on the academy since they are the only ones who can play our style and need no adaptation time. So what I'm saying is Barca now have the quality of youngsters who can reach the level of those players in a few years time in terms of football , whether they win 3 or 4 CLs and world cups is another thing but la.masia still is producing players of such quality.

To all those who claim La Masia is dead
Iniaki Pena may not be tenas level gifted but is a solid young backup goalie.
not to mention talesnts like Olmo, Icardi, Thiago, Cucurella, Bellerin,Traore, Grimaldo etc that left the club too
