Barcelona’s world-famous La Masia academy has encountered numerous issues in the years since producing the unforgettable Tiki-Taka generation. In parts one and two of our La Masia series, we explored the academy’s history and its recent problems. In this third and final part, we look directly at the young players who have left the academy and the club in search of new homes. These are the players that left Barcelona behind.

It seems like Pep still has a hand on the Barca youth academy
He ain't stupid he knows they have a great grounding at the start plus you get them for under £3m that is nothing in today's football....city spend big so that money is nothing.
@unchanging golovin cheers for calling me a hipster.
@@stevenclark6209 Except he also has absolutely no intention of bringing them into the first team. So he's just perpetuating the La Masia problems with City's youth setup, he already has Sancho under his belt, watch Foden leave and the rest follow as well.
He is arguably the best manager in The world and Barcelona was most successful under him. No surprise here :)
Alex Gærtner there is no chance Foden will leave
Tifo Football is still underrated in my opinion
@unchanging golovin you are the one to say lol...
@unchanging golovin why don't you make your own football content then instead of giving tifo some stick... it's easy being an armchair critic but people like tifo who go through the grind are actually respected.. it's better to walk the talk rather than talk the talk...
They could be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize and I would still find them underrated
MRah Let’s keep it that way
@@jaydeepbose4501 he said some people don't give him the credit as some other channels, even though he deserves every single piece of credit he gets.
Not everyone makes to the first team...but the problem is we didn't even need all the signings we madein the recent years..we have a board who doesn't trust the youth anymore
Right bro.
Yeah, well, we at United have a coaching staff all into the youth thing and look were we are in the table, or how our games are going....
They chase immediate results and short term solutions
@Slavic Soldier United needs like 5-6 players to compete and an adequate bench. This current squad lacks creativity and depth. Martial and Rashford are both injured, who does United have? Greenwood, he's 17... If he gets taken out they have abolutely no forwards left...
@abdul warees You're not a real barca fan. You're a plastic fan.
You guys forgot to include *Keita Balde.* Sent out on loan as punishment for playing a wet bed prank on a team mate. ... Never looked back since.
Oslo MGTOW no he read he jus doesn’t believe it 😂 cause it’s very unusual for someone to be sent out like that
@@diegoramirez7985 Yeah I noticed. I think the confusion came from punctuation. He was supposed to use a comma and a question mark somewhere in that comment. ... This is why people got to war. Because of missing punctuations in International Treaties. 😁
unchanging golovin So are Ben Yedder and Slimani who are ahead of him however.
TF also forgot to add Palencia, who was the captain of Barca B and now in st Etienne. He first arrived in France in the very bizarre transfer when they got Malcolm from Bordeaux just as the deal with AS Roma was about to get signed
majestic movement Slimani has been amazing in just a few weeks. Blade average in over a year. Perfectly logical slimani starts ahead of him. He has a great partnership with Ben yedder too
He was success at lazio but his agent make him go to monaco not juventus...
Would love to see something on Chelsea’s academy that’s been dominating the youth setup now for several years since their restructure about 10 years ago. It was said to be heavily influenced by La Masia and Ajax. Especially since they have struggled, Atleast until this year with Lampard to integrate into the first team. They have also had several young players leave over recent years due to being tired of their loan system.
@unchanging golovin LOL
@unchanging golovin just no buddy
Tomori, James, Loftus-Cheek, Abraham, Mount, Hudson-Odoi. Tasty,
Chelsea youth is massively overrated though. they are a point behind arsenal who have been dreadful this year.
@@johnnyboi331 how are they overrated? just because they are 1 point away from 4th? makes no sense to me... as the only reason Chelsea is even getting any results is cause of Abraham and Mount... and some of the other good young players are just coming back from their injuries... like CHO and James...
GOD this is one of the best football channels on YT.

@unchanging golovin who do you recommend for tactical insights then?

Take away the "one of" in that sentence
Sounds like Chelsea buying Baba rather than to give Van Aanholt or Bertrand minutes. Or buying Zappacosta rather than giving Aina backup mins, or buying Pato rather than giving Lukaku mins, or buying Cuadrado rather than giving Salah mins, or buying Torres rather than giving Sturridge mins, or buying Drinkwater rather than giving Chalobah mins and on and on and on and on before Lampard. Rebuying David Luiz rather than giving Nathan Ake mins. Okay I swear I’m done now. LoL.
KDB?
Salah and sturridge weren't academy products so who cares?
😂 chelsea fans is hurt
Luke Mads if every team was like this, transfer market would be non existent. Just bc they're not youth academy products, doesn't mean they're trash. Smh
Lee Seung Woo matched Leo's goal scoring recording in La Masia before he got sanctioned by the ban. Really could have been a bright star for Barca and South Korea
Not everyone became a Messi or Pedro, there were promising guys such as Tello, Jeffren, and Bojan that just weren’t at that level consistently, so I can’t fault them for not retaining too many of these young talents... football is not always easily predictable
What about players like Bellerin, Sanchez and Icardi? Barca should loan promising youngsters for 2-3 seasons and then make a decision.
@@bluesyace9564 Sanchez didnt come from la masia. He came from Italy
@@stepheng130 thanks
Bojan had a nervous breakdown because of all the pressure that was mounted on his shoulders. He could’ve been one of the world’s best but everyone kept calling him the next Messi and honestly nobody who is playing rn is at that level so that’s why he flopped. Hector Bellerin. An often overlooked player, that guy is fast as hell. If I’m not mistaken, I believe he’s from La Masia as well. Would love to see him fill the role that Dani Alves left back (no pun intended)
Dustiliciousz I’m an Arsenal fan and I want Bellerin to stay at Arsenal
Dustiliciousz Bellerin lost all of his pace when he went vegan and started dressing like a lesbian cross dresser.' Know there Is nothing wrong with that, but the problem is that his play got so much worse and he forgot how to defend.

Bellerin is atrocious
It’s crazy how a 16 year old can randomly come onto the scene and perform better than the players we have spent over one hundred million on
Ansu Fati is a good example, also Pedri...
This video just told me who I should get on fifa career mode now
Dani Olmo - I think best player on this list, Tactical winger who is key man in Dinamo's Lineup. Underrated asf, I watched him play.
I could see Grimaldo doing really well at City under Pep
As well as Foden is currently performing?
@Aniket Aryan Great player, but he's sorely lacking a good coach to nurture his talent.
I am a Porto fan but I tink that Grimaldo is one of the best left back in the world and he scores some bangers

Hoping Eric Garcia really develops. He looks like he's bulked up from last year, which is good. He looked like a scarecrow before.

Love this channel. Learned so much from it.
Would love to see one of these about Benfica's academy as well that just also lost a lot of young prospects and only in recent years as been taking the players from the academy to the A team but a lot of great players nowadays (like Bernardo Silva) barely played at the first squad
Please be more specific on context, I wanted to read your feedback, but I can't get meaning of your statement.
@@mariannecula1597 I was talking about some player that left Benfica before they could get their spot on the first team because the coach didn't really want to fit them in, and gave the example of Bernardo Silva(there also guys like João Carvalho that are slept on) but there's also more players that actually made it but left early and played a small amount of time (like Ivan Cavaleiro)

what i admire the most about this channel is consistency. 😍
Benfica fan here. I remember in the very first UEFA Youth League final La Masia absolutely killed our boys, especially Munir. He scored the 3-0 from their side of the pitch. It was heart wrenching, but fast forward a few years they gave us Grimaldo so I think it makes it okay.
As a barca fan, this vid just makes me sad
Valverde is busy buying big money flops meanwhile quality barca players cominh through the academy have no choice but to leave ;(
Quality content as per!
let have one on the chelsea academy come on tifo. Great video btw. Very insightful.
Barcelona has become what they seemingly despised at the beginning of the past decade. A team that signs stars, superstars and, this is the worrying part, even good but not great players instead of promoting talent from their second team. They have thrown away more than $150M in the past 5 years on players that barely played, instead of just having those roles covered by younger players.
I think a lot of the signings they made under Pep were not good, to say he already had some of the most talented players in the world, he spent a lot of money on some average players. Kerrison, Hleb, Caceres, Chygrynskyi and I love Zlatan but 69 million-plus Eto'o for a player you don't know what to do with and get rid of after one year?
@@craigseddon4884
You're kind of conveniently pointing out the "failures", and in that group the only one that was signed with the expectation of having a big role was Ibra, the rest were relatively cheap and signed as rotation players in literally Guardiola's forst 2 years with the team
Compare that to Cesc Fabregas, Alexis Sanchez, David Villa, Daniel Alves, Gerrard Pique, Javier Mascherano, signings that did end up being excellent.
@@user-hs5vb6kc9o they are low cost at todays prices, but back then some of those transfer fees for those players were huge.
Some very good defenders were moving for 10-15m then, Chygrynskyi cost 25m and played 12 times.
And he did have successful transfers but again the fees for then were really high. Dani Alves 30+m for a RB? He was great but world class strikers moved for half that back then.
Pep is a great manager but my one gripe would be he spends far too much and always has. At Man City he has spent 300m on defenders which is crazy
This voice is Golden 🌕🌟
Thanks for this
Definitely in my top 3 all time best channels
Very good content 👍🏼
Pep really believes in La Masia more than the current Barça board.
Good stuff lads.
Please make a video on Laliga finances like why it makes less than bundesliga? Is it really a farmers' league? Or do a video on the situation at Valencia. What happened to valencia? Thank you
I guess the ambition to win Champions league is making it harder for academy players to get into the first team but this also ensures that they are betting on probably the best player from the academy and selling the rest.
So looks like there is no problem with La Masia but I still fail to understand why did they bring in Andre Gomes, Paulinho, Vermaelen, Alcacer and others just to warm the bench and give very little playing time when they could have been easily replaced with academy graduates.
I FUCKIN LOVE THESE VIDEOS, TIFO AND ATHLETIC ARE THE GOATS
Could you please make a video on the new rb Salzburg team under Jesse marsch or a player profile on erling haaland braut.

Being a Barça fan, this video just disappoints me...we should incorporate more young players instead of big signings such as Cucurella
But Marc cucurella was a la Masia player originally 😭
I’m saying incorporate young players like Cucurella instead of big signings
All fine and good. Nice video.
Dani Olmo probably the best one of them all
Nerdwolf Pulisic, Grimaldo?
@@dannykroon4880 both are fantastic but i feel like olmo is more on a level of talent as havertz and felix

Wow this was brilliant
City stocking up on youth, but will likely not use any of them

Fuck yeah! I've been waiting for this video!
What Barça is doing now is what they've always done which is mostly buy players and have 2 or 3 academy players in their squad they only didn't do that with guardiola who also had some luck because he immediately had the best talent to have ever come from la masia. So I think people saying that what Barcelona is doing is not the barca way are probably people who only started to watch football in 2010
It is no luck. Pep were a coach from Barca B team. After Pep got promoted, he also promoted some of his talented players too. That's why Pep got no luck over youth players that day.
"Who has 2 million instagram followers......... left for PSG this summer."
LMAO, I don't know whether that is intentional or not, but that was funny as fuck....
Not all players from La Masia can play for the first team, however, the experience and knowledge, tactical and skills, helped them when they go to other clubs. .
Do a series on the Carrington academy as well.
Xavi Simons is a marktebale prospect. I dont know if hes good enough to be a top player tho. Because I saw a lot of Barca fans weren’t sure of his talent either.
Hes got talent but the extreme fame might go to his head
Amazing video. Now I know who to buy in FIFA 20 carreer mode xD
Please do a video on the psychology of football players. From Ibra to Bendtner, Ronaldo to Nani, Wenger’s Arsenal, underdogs and teams with young players. Something along those lines?
Since you made this about the ones who left, maybe you should make another episodes about the ones who are in the academy right now.
I can understand players wanting to move on if they see no opportunity but Juve, PSG & Man City have sides that are probably as difficult to get into than Barca.
Ivan McGann Man City 's owners own other teams. There may be more opportunities.
Sad to see these talents leave. They should have been the future of the club.
I went to Connell College in Manchester with IanCarlo Poveda, the guy is a whiz at Maths. We were all surprised because the other City kids like Foden and Dele-Bashiru weren't the brightest
Please to something on AC Milan.. either on the recent Giampaolo's demise, or more broadly on the rollercoaster since Allegri left... when all the problems started.

The only ting I don't like about this series is the constant use of the words Tiki-Taka, which is a label adopted by the Madrid press to talk about the successful spanish national team when it had a lot of Barça graduates at its core. In Barcelona the La Masia style of play has been always known as "joc de posició" (positional game) or cruyffism.
Now Dani Olmo is in the Champions League semifinals with RB Leipzig, and even scored against Atlético Madrid.
Dani Olmo is now a huge prospect he recently moved to Leipzig
Love the channel. More finance vids would be great! :)
This is basically a video of my current Football Manager team... I never knew they all had Barca ties!
Is there going to be a video on ansu fati?
I liked how Tifo chose to talk about the recent ones, rather than Thiago or Icardi which everyone knows already. I had no idea some of these youngsters are ex-La Masia players. Xavi Simons and Kubo have disapointed me. Simons chose money while Kubo chose the arch rivals.
Kubo wasn’t even with Barcelona at the time when he went to Real Madrid... If a club like Real comes calling to you at such a young age you better pick up the phone, especially if Barcelona isn’t in the cards anymore either
@@shaun3592 Barca negotiated with him first but couldn't agree with his wage demand. I don't approve of Barca's decision. Eventually, Madrid met his 1M wage demand and he joined them. My disappointment is that he could've gone anywhere else but nope he joined Real. If you're not a Barca fan, you wouldn't understand this.
It was a spur of the moment signing for Real. Signing Kubo after already spending 85M on Vinicius and Rodrygo doesn't make much sense. Tell me how Real would fit, Vinicius, Rodrygo, Odegaard, B. Diaz, Kubo into the first team within next 2 years? They can't and Kubo might be out on loan for 2-3 years. It seems, joining Real wasn't that wise after all.
Dani Olmo is a GOD
Ansu Fati, Perez, Alena Barca is just doing fine. Those who left the team with big egos good luck with that.
You need to do one about Argentina’s national team!!
Valencias Paterna is just as interesting and good as La Masia. Stars and prospects like: David Silva, Raul Albiol, Paco Alcacer, Jordi Alba, Ferran Torres, Carlos Soler, Kangin Lee, Grimaldo, Borja Iglesias, Centelles, Isco, Guillamon, Koba Kondreidi, Ferhat Cogalan, Nabil Touaizi, etc.

Barcelona’s president & Valverde is the problem. They don’t trust the academy enough. Btw you forgot to include Roberto Navarro who got snapped up by Monaco. You also forgot Balde Keita, Adama Traore, Manu Trigueros, Sergi Gomez, Antonio Sanabria, Oriol Romeu & Alex Blanco.

I feel like this video would have been a lot better if the mentioned more players who are around 23 years old to at least understand if they made it as footballers because the players who went to City are basically still hot prospects but at man city instead.
