Don't let off the throttle too much or too suddenly however (without straightening the wheel), as it may induce sudden oversteer and spin you

I bet braking also helps recover from understeer as it puts even more weight on the front wheels.
It does but braking also demands more grip...
@@L2SFBC well the additional weight on the front tires from braking gives them more grip doesn’t it? More force on the front tires increases their contact patch with the ground no?

Kind of. It's risky. Braking, as you said, puts more weight on the front wheels. But that can be a bad thing. If you suddenly shift all of the weight from the back to the front, you may go from understeer to oversteer

Even a bit of brakes might help just not too much to cause oversteer
you cant save understeer.best is to countersteer+ hand brake
