    Spo is a genius. His 2-3 zone is different. He put the guards at the back and let the wing players in front. Obviously the length of Jones Jr and Jimmy Butle or Crowder is distracting the Celtics especially on Walker. That halftime adjustment by Spo is one of the greatest.

    As a basketball enthusiast, all credit to Coach Spoelstra. His great adjustment on both ends of the floor really suits this team filled by BAD MEN. They are definitely on a mission, and can't wait for the following days to come. Because of what happened, we can expect Brad Stevens to go and squeeze his ideas further because he's a genius, too.
    Truly the squad who will raise the trophy in October deserves all the credit. In my book, this is the toughest playoffs that happened in the NBA history

I always had a bit of an issue with Soo, obviously a brilliant mind but from 2014 onwards we blew so many 3rd quarters. Mostly due I think to the bad situation with Whiteside and having just hard match ups on teams that didn't have the depth we have they the entire team today. Am I correct in the thinking we were a team that blew what feels like hundreds of games over the last 6 years almost all in the 3rd or am I just jaded & mistaken? 🙏✌️

I was watching (or tried to watch) Scott Van Pelt after the game and he just kept saying "zone", without ever saying if it was a 2-3 zone or a 3-2 zone or matchup zone or any other kind of zone. The Heat have more ways to get you off of business as usual than any other team, including Toronto. The zone, the sagging man, the trapping man, the full-court press. Offense too, they are very multiple in their looks. Hat's off to Coach Spoelstra.

    Props to coach Spo and the heat players for executing really well on game 2. Really caused some disruption to the celtics offense. Brad stevens made some good calls and adjustments, but imo, the celtics just didn’t execute as well. Turnovers and wrong reads really let the heat come back from that deficit. They gotta do a better job next game. Hoping for great basketball in the next games.

  • @enriquecomas933
    @enriquecomas933 Před 3 lety

    There is one other thing that the Heat are doing and it shows in the 3rd and 4th quarter. Since they DO NOT stop off ball screening and motioning and making the Celtics constantly run and defend each possession, they get them tired and unfocused when they have the ball on their possession. I see the Celtics and they looked gassed running their offense, especially Tatum and Theis. Kemba also is dealing with huge wing defenders and can't see what is above their body on backdoor cuts unless he breaks the zone and drives. But since the Heat are the king's of collapse and clog the paint and breakout to the 3pt line, they put your team in a bad spot everytime and force 20 turnovers.
    It is fucken beautiful to watch because the hustle and energy of the Heat is ridiculous. They are relentless even when they are down and don't abandon their strategy. If you are not playing your A game.....you are in big trouble against the Heat. And so far, Celtics played their A game in game 2 and still loss. 50% FG, 10 more free throws and out-rebounded the Heat....but 20 turnovers will and always cost you.

    Smart is a genius defender and also not a bad offencer (cuts, mobility, rebounds). But if there is a one thing that smart is not that is a ball hander decision maker. So they have to find someone else at the post. Otherwise they won't be able to break zone.

  • @adamkikuta
    @adamkikuta Před 3 lety +1

    Really good breakdown. I was wondering why the celtics wouldn’t just put smart or brown at the FT because it was wide open on every play. It seems like they started to do that later in the game though. When they do that, it probably wouldn’t allow the heat guards to be cheating up and playing for the steal.

    • @2313rafa
      @2313rafa Před 3 lety

      That's probably why heat don't always play zone, because they know after a while, celtics coaching staff can catch on. It's heat's coaching staff that are mixing it up to keep em off throughout the whole game.

  • @blunar844
    @blunar844 Před 3 lety

    Yo as an ex bball player I gotta admit I kinda chuckled at the fact that the Celtics just either didn't realize that Heat was in a 2-3 zone or they just are clueless how to attack a 2-3 zone. You don't need to be setting high picks against a 2-3 zone.. Have someone that can handle getting blitz (Marcus Smart or Kemba) at the top then someone needs to flash middle preferably Brown (someone who can make a quick decision with the ball/and use athleticism to get to goal or hit mid range shot) while having two shooters on wings (Tatum and Kemba/Wanamaker.. It stetches the 2-3 then you just attack the gaps lol ik the Heat have a great ass defense and good players but sometimes the basic fundamentals are just missed at times even at the pro level.

      Because they don't trust their ball movement. They believe in best shot available and the Heat are not letting Kemba just one on one breakdown defenders down. They press him early and force him to be a catch and shoot which he struggles at. He has rhythm in those shots. He has better rhythm shooting contested fades.

  • @lemzpotutan2839

    Heat players said the zone forces them to communicate. So the coaches went to it out of desperation in game 2, then tried it again in game 3 early. Problem was the Heat players did not communicate. Strange. Coaches didn’t call time or tell them about lack of communication. Running the offense through Jimmy beyond the three then to Bam at elbow puts the ball in 2 players that aren’t a threat from those areas. If this isn’t fixed the Heat will lose this series and it may be early. Go Heat.

    The problem with the Celtics is that they have no post game threat either high or low. Plus their guards are not high level playmakers. For me they are doomed, because we should add to that the absence of a true 3 point specialist.... This zone is going to cause them more problem, as the series goes on. Because the zone slows the pace of the game, limiting the numbers of possesions.Which kills the rythm of certain types of scorers.Specially ball dominant ones! And Celtics are just full of them!!!

    Easily solved with big with decent passing on the top of the key which can sometimes shoot mid range. Basketball basics. But Stevens nor his staff obviously do not know that. Which proves most of the nba coaches are miles away from average european coach...

      The Celtics is following the Rockets philosophy of going for the most efficient shots which are the dunk and the 3-pt shot. According to analytics, mid range jumpers are the least efficient shots. The Heat knows that the Celtics is following this philosophy so they don't guard the mid range shots because the Celtics will not take it.

    BASKETBALL 🏀 101!
    Gotta be able to hit outside shots to break down that ZONE(Example if the heat did this to Steph and Klay the Heat would get destroyed).A ZONE D also collapses when someone drives to the paint leaving open shots ALL DAY(You hit enough shots D will be forced to go man)Also the Heat are getting rest on D.
    The Celtics are gonna be in panic mode next game.
    Leading to more horrible shots and the Heat will be Sending the CELTICS packin...SWEEP!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nobody plays zone defense anymore, i guarantee you most of today's NBA players never encountered it or only saw it their one season in college. These guys so used to watered down man to man defense because its easier to score if i defender has to defend you across half the 3-point line with no help D. Giannis, Lebron, Harden would have a hard time scoring 30 points. They only know pick and roll offense
