    I like the way the game has changed. An older coach was lamenting the decline of the post game. I said, "well coach, not all of us are blessed to have two 6'8" post players every year. The modern style is a lot more translatable to the typical team at lower levels. Much easier to develop guards instead of being lucky enough to get those big tall players year in and year out.

      it also would defeat a lot of the complaints of "no one plays defense.' Today's game teams still play defense, the rule and the way rules are enforce definitely makes it a lot harder, but the offensive intricacies of today's games makes it hard as well, plus today's game is less one on one defense and more of team defense has to constantly be on top of their game all of the time. The number of rotations, and space players have to cover is something past generations didn't have to do but it's rarely these guys aren't playing defense, it's just defense is different as offenses are different. Like you said, content like this explores that and helps illuminates what is actually going on.

      @@jamesmarshall6619well said! Its really great to see team defences operate. • @jamesmarshall6619
      @jamesmarshall6619 Před 8 měsíci

      @@maartenvz I agree. I like the physical play but at the same time it's only one way, offensive players can simply bulldoze over defensive players while defensive players get called for a foul if they stand their ground physically. It's why that even though I don't really like flopping, I completely understand it because as Raja Bell once put it if he bumped Kobe back when Kobe put his should into him, Bell would get a foul called so he would flop in the hopes of getting a call on him because there isn't much else Bell can do.

    I am a fan of 3&D bigs like Brook Lopez. Centers who can rim protect + stretch the floor to bring the opposing Center out of the paint so that it’s easier for his team to attack the basket.
    That’s why the Bucks are such a completed team. To have Giannis attacking without a Big to defend him because the opposing big is glued to Brook Lopez who’s shooting at a high Percentage from three. AND with both Giannis and Brook as your front court , you’re bound for elite level rim protection💯💯💯

      As a Clippers Fan , if I could have 2 players on our team to replace those we have at that position. I’d want Lonzo Ball as our point Guard. He’s a 6’6 lockdown point Guard who can rebound , pass at an elite level , get Blocks , stretch the floor and let his team play without the ball in his hands , Great 3 point catch and shooter who can make plays and create shots. Perfect fit for our Defense along side Paul George and Kawhi. And he’s a perfect point guard on the offensive end as well.
      And I’d like to have a Brook Lopez , Or Steven Adams. Brook for obvious reasons. But make no mistake. You don’t have to be a five out team to win a ring. Steven Adams is a Great Center. Let’s Go Clippers ☺️

    “Smaller and smaller” is somewhat of an oversimplification. Yes, in totality, teams are getting smaller. But specifically, teams are targeting versatile players that can defend multiple positions and score in multiple areas. So while traditional SF, PFs, and Cs tend to get “smaller” to allow more spacing and allow them to switch and defend the perimeter-the average size of point guards and shooting is actually getting bigger! 6’4-6-7 guards are becoming much more popular in the league. While 6’5-6’7 forwards are also becoming more popular.

    It's boring af. Pop-a-Shot Basketball. The NBA has never been closer to a shooting practice drill. Most possessions most players don't even cross the 3pt line and park themselves at a spot just watching. Playmakers pass to a spot and get upset if a player isn't there, passing blame (pun intended).

    The problem with the NBA is it’s no diversity in playstyle. People are not running offenses that aren’t conducive to their personnel. I keep hearing suggestions that coaches want players to shoot more threes, smh. That’s Boston’s problem now. I like how Jokic is the only player that uses his size and takes advantage of mismatches. It’s still a place for the big man and low post moves. Everybody doesn’t have to play with pace, do what benefits your team. That’s why we losing internationally this style of play.

      There are only 2 Post up players in the NBA today. Jokic and Gordon. They are the ones that easily beat all those bad low percentage shooting teams. Imagine what Prime Robinson and Prime Duncan would do to the NBA today. 82-0 16-0 in the Playoffs every Season.
