  • We just thought we'd share a bit of extra footage from the Christmas period. It's been sitting around doing nothing, so here it is.
    The Gladius was 100% stock for the video and even before switching ESC or tyres, it was great to drive.
    If you fancy getting an FTX Outback Gladius like I was driving, please support your local model shop but if you don't have anywhere nearby then here's a link to a UK retailer that you can trust.. (I'll get a tiny commission to help keep the channel going, so buying through this is very helpful)

      Actually, the end of the trail is by a perfect little stream where you can bath or shower your truck!

    Christmas tree is a nice touch 😊 I recently bought myself a Gladius as well, but the dipswitches on the controller don't seem to be doing anything. Manual and local model shop weren't very helpful and there isn't much online either. Truck is always on F/R and 100% drag break no matter what position the dipswitches are in. Any idea why that might be?

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 5 měsíci +1

      It's a funny one, isn't it.. and annoying too. I get the feeling that this setup was just hijacked from the Outback 3 and isn't compatible.
      I think there's a jumper on the speed controller for changing between F/R and F/B/R but I would leave it on F/R for a crawler.
      To be honest, the only upgrade that's really needed on this truck is a better speed controller. After that it's brilliant!

      Is the fusion stuff you did on your other video the way to go? Or is there some other viable option?

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 5 měsíci

      @@NthandaTheWitch Either a Fusion or just a better ESC and use the stock motor, which is perfectly good.

    I wonder if i may pick your brain, I've recently bought a gladius but I'm having problems with rear diff engaging and disengaging i think its the outer sleeve on the diff cable has come away from axle and i can't see how it is attached to axle. Ive tried the manual but cant see anything that addressing this....?. This is my first crawler with locking diffs so struggling.

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 5 měsíci +1

      At the diff end it sits inside a small ferrule. It shouldn't be able to come out. If it has, then it's the servo end that is likely at fault. Just try repositioning it under the clamp near the servo.
      If it's really loose, then it's perhaps either a problem with the hook on the locking lever inside the diff housing or bad servo saver positioning. You could try taking the servo saver off and moving it round a tooth but if it goes too far, you risk putting the servo under constant strain and burning it out.

      @@paulnorton7444 No problem at all. Let me know how you get on. I rebuilt mine recently and didn't have any issues, so I'm intrigued.
      A word to the wise.. Make sure you lube the bearings well on this truck. They're poor quality and rust very easily. If you've driven in the wet, dry them quickly and whilst constantly turning to help stop it.
