  • That damned Hobbywing 1040 ESC just had to go! It's awful and lets down this rig is a BIG way!
    The only decision was what to put in. With everyone I drive with seeming to use Fusion SEs, I thought it was about time I tried one.

    Hi fella. Looked to a bit of a pain but sorted in the end. Just put the 1800 se in my Element Ecto, it now has ridiculously slow low down control. Awesome bit of kit. One thing that you may want to do is option 6 in the manual, Automatic motor pairing. Basically it cycles through motor speed etc to set all sensors up perfectly ( remove gear mesh when doing so motor spins freely ) . Option 5 on programme card allows motor direction change

      Hi David.
      They're not bad things, are they?
      I've already got a Fusion Pro in my CRX2 but there are some differences.
      The biggest thing I would say to anyone setting one of these up is to turn off FOC, especially if trailing. It makes it look and sound like a cheap toy with its constant varying power. I trailed half a day with it on, switched it off at lunchtime and really enjoyed the afternoon.
      The motor direction change is handy (and used) but if it didn't have it, reversing the channel would do almost the same.

    Hi Mike, I am so glad I am not the only one doing content on the Gladius. I actually created a short that covered the noise from the pinion and spur mesh yesterday. While I was under the cover I thought I would see how hard it is to remove the motor and pinion. I had all the same issues as you did in this video! I guess to get the cost of what is essentially a TRX4 clone down the manufacturer has had to save money somewhere. Sadly it's in things like the ESC, Servo and hardware. All the heads on mine were rounding out really easy so I purchased a load of assorted M3 12.9 grade hex head screws and I am slowly replacing them as I go.
    I am also doing an upgrade series, a different route to you it seems but it is nice for people to have choices. I have heavily modified mine but I also like the route you are going. I am going to do a community post with this video series from your channel so that my subs can see an alternative path for this pretty awesome truck!
    PS Hows the Northern lass? is that her in the reflection over your shoulder? LOL
    Thanks for your content mate, I hope this finds you all well.

      Hi Dwight. I'm good, thanks. Hope you are.
      It is a slightly noisy spur, isn't it? I'd rather have a nylon spur.
      The glue on those screws is just crazy! I don't mind cheap screws, as long as they're used properly.
      I don't mind the servo.. i think it's pretty good for an RTR, so I'll stick with it for now.
      It's certainly good to have choices and it's good to consider different options and upgrade paths. Cheers for the mention.
      My wife's well, thanks. Yes, that's her in the reflection. She's got another Mashigan video due soon.

      A mashigan video you say? Ooh I will look out for that. As you say the servo is not bad for an RTR version but I will most liely be swapping mine out for DS3235 in the near future aspecially as with the Fusion oyu can run a bit more juice!@@rcpie
      Have a good one mate and keep up the good work, I really like your channel.

    PS I used to race 1/10 scale and the reps always use to say "cor-ally" cor as in wow and alley as in the space behind or between two buildings 😉

      It's great. The motor side of things isn't a massive difference but the speed controller is miles better.. as long as you turn FOC off.

      Cheers, Neil.
      I think the next things will be a new body and I might change the servo but as of yet, it's been OK.
      I don't want it to be a money pit rig.
      It's pretty awesome, so I just want to drive it!

    Hi mate did you do the motor synchronising sequences before running it🤔🤔

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, it's really straightforward.
      Sometimes they don't need it, though.
      If it's making a stuttering noise, it needs synchronizing.

    I’m brand new to this hobby, for casual usage would the fusion se be overkill or swapping the esc to a 1060 or 1080 be sufficient

    • @rcpie
      @rcpie  Před 5 měsíci

      It certainly wouldn't be overkill but you'd be fine with a 1080. Loads more control and even if you later upgrade to a Fusion, you'll always find another truck to put a 1080 in!
      You're going to buy more trucks... You know it!🤣
