    take the cover off your air box and your filter is right there. no need to crawl on the ground and make a mess. it's right there and very easy to install

    Just a heads up. If you take a long center punch and punch a hole in the bottom of the filter, it will drain into the pan, then pull the filter, no mess.

      Also fill your filter with oil before putting it back on the engine. Putting a dry filter on is not good for start up!

      Punch a hole.. nice way to take an oil bath😅. But all you need is WalM’s #4219 Hyper Tough 3-legged (knurled) oil wrench. Use an extension and off she comes and doesn’t spill oil on being lowered down.

    i found that using your ratchet, long extension, and a jaw tool under the truck is really easy for the filter

    You’re correct, the toughest part of the job is the oil filter.

    If anyone doing a oil change use a funnel also add oil to the filter and remove it from the bottom these videos everyone makes it more complicated than it is I’ve seen some people remove wheel wells that’s crazy I guess they have time I’m new to diesel trucks just bought one did the oil change and didn’t take me long it was fast

      Yes the only thing I do up top is dump the new oil in these guys take air boxes and inner finders off cracks me up I can change the oil in my 2006 less than ten mins long extension oil filter socket bam you’re done 🇺🇸

    Your '03 looks a bit "busier" under the hood than my '01. I change my filter from up top. Almost straight up and down, requires a small, quick tilt but no spill.

    Did you learn like I did the first time using that oil pan that it needs bigger holes in the top!?

    • @MiloFarms
      @MiloFarms  Před 2 lety

      I did indeed. I made another small hole next to the original and always make sure the air vent is open.

    your coolant overflow bottle doesn’t appear to have a hose connecting it to the radiator. in the video it looks like it’s missing but maybe it’s a weird angle and I can’t see it.

    Methinks you had that filter loosened up before you got started. And possibly had removed a wheel well shroud? Anyways, as the guy said in Crocodile Dundee ll.. there’s a better way! All you need is WalM’s #4219 Hyper Tough 3-legged (knurled) oil wrench. Use an extension and off she comes and doesn’t spill oil on being lowered down.

      @200130769 Před 2 lety +3

      There are 4 quarts in a gallon. 3 gallons is perfect in my truck. 12.5 would pry be past the top mark on the dipstick.
