Mr Farmer, Thank you for posting this. I have been watching a lot of yt vids on the Ram 2500 diesel for help with my problems. You are the best! You have a natural talent and are kind enough to get good camera angles, talk through certain issues we may have, and remind us not to skip certain steps. The qualities of a great teacher.

Thank you for being one of the very few content creators that does an oil change correctly! You are indeed, per Dodge factory service manual and per Cummins Operation & Maintenance manual, supposed to prefill the lube oil filter. Too many meatheads spew nonsense and say not to do so.

That's how you make a how to video. Clear, non jumpy well lit camera shots. To the point with clear instruction and why things are done this way, no babbling, no monotone voice, tips and tricks. Everything you need, nothing you don't. All done without the whole " smash the like and subscribe buttons" speech. Not that I need to know how to change oil but would definitely refer to your video as best explanation. Good job!

Glad it helped, ur gonna love that truck....fyi...if it's an automatic..and you start having transmission shift issues...like jumping from overdrive back to 3rd...there is a silly little wire that comes off the alternator that somehow gets interference on it...strap or zip tie it up behind the tube that feeds the air cleaner..some have also wrapped it in aluminum foil...this will solve the issue for a while....it's a known issue on every automatic gen 2 5.9 if ya don't have the problem...you will! Don't get raked through the coals by a trans shop!

Great video, when i change the fuel filter i use the drain pit cock at the bottom of the filter housing to empty out the fuel, then out comes the filter sweet and easy! that will allow the empty housing to be available for a nice wipe down inside, install new filter and top off canister with fresh fuel and close her up.

    Fumoto valves are awesome..no mess
Use a puppy pad under drain pan.when draining oil remove dipstick and oil cap..it will help oil drain faster.I always use a fuel filter from the 03 to 05 Cummins, because they are a little tighter in micron versus fuel filter for a 98.5 to 02.when adjusting the valves..i always set them at .07 and .017..the turbo will "light" a little sooner! Good video!

Truer words were never spoken ... "By this time you've got plenty of diesel fuel on your fingers..." I always change my fuel filters outside, with old clothes and rubber mechanics gloves. That stuff is strong and smells a good long time.

Positive feedback I get a large piece of cardboard (like an appliance box) to lay on. Makes life better

I looked up oil drain plug torque recently and found 37 - 40 ft #'s.. Sounds like a lot but really only a slight pull via 3/8 drive snap on torque wrench.

Manual says 37 ft-lbs for that oil plug. Just got my own 5.9 yesterday and was looking for a video exactly like this, thank you!

U forgot to mention about usually when changing oil An filters that it’s also important to get a grease gun an grease all the fittings on front end parts an driveshafts etc.. a lot of ppl always forget about greasing .. some are sealed but some are greaseable an will help to keep ball joints tie rods etc last longer .. I always give mine a check when I do a service on my truck..👍

    Good tips.
You have to be gentle with plastic or fine threads.
    Treat them like glass.

This is not the first time I heard about the aluminum around that wire I know a guy who instead of aluminum foil used metallic duct tape(ac duct tape) with great success and never had to change it
