We see best mates and i am grateful to see, that James and Louis have a connection to have such important deep conversations. Much love Louis, much love James.
I feel like you took my thoughts and feelings and put them into a video. I deeply relate with this and all you've said.
What Louis said at 12:25 about not seeing his friends posts all it is - is adverts is so true. I have a love/hate relationship with Instagram, it was brilliant a few year ago before so many adverts appeared.
Great deep stuff. There is so much more to life than bodybuilding. Thank you guys🙌
Totally agree with what you say here James! had this conversation a lot recently also, in this day and age we all get caught up in social media especially if it is your job there is a bigger pressure that lingers over you and then it just feels like bodybuilding 24/7 all day long which is needed some times of course to progress in this game however scheduling time with your partner or people who take you away from this world is key and ultimatley time away from your phone / social media going for walks in nature helps and trying to do regular things that doesn't include numbers, macros etc etc a battle I am still trying to find balance with as I always want progress and get better but taking time away is almost like taking a step back to go two steps forward so that you don't burn out. Great to see you raising awareness on this brother!
This was valuable. Pros and cons in all areas of life. The pro here is the privilege of seeing into a world uniquely lived. Much respect James. Thanks for sharing.
Former competitor here
What i have noticed in the last 5-6 years in the fitness industry is an enormous amount of unhappiness, anxiety, emptiness
In my opinion its multi factorial but Social Media is the #1
I think if you took a poll of mental health in our industry and asked anyone whos been in 5-10 years if their mental health is better the same or worse
It would be telling
My advice James as someone who has watched you and happen to like you the person much more then the physique
Is set an exit strategy from competition
Thank you for sharing this. I think these are all thoughts many of us are thinking, but nobody is saying/talking about so it's great to see highly recognised and respected bodybuilders like yourself discussing this matter.
Everyone is touched by these issues at some stage in their lives, they just hide them
Much love James, stay strong bro.
Well done James for talking about pressure of every day life of everybody in life suffering...
Good stuff James. This is an important topic and so little people talk about it. Comparison really is the killer of joy and not great for the mental.
I Totally understand where james is coming from and what he is saying I grew up in the 70s I was bought up to be a better person in life enjoy my personal journey enjoy the things I love doing not give a BS about what ofter people think. I enjoy your content they have certainly helped me along the way in the gym and away from the gym. It helps to talk about it for sure. One thing that gets me through life is Motivation enthusiasm Yes I have crap days day's where I feel is it worth it. But Now since training from a young age and now in my 50s I am proud of myself my achievements work and personal stuff I love training it's in my blood and I pray and hope to be doing what I do at 80 😃 Keep doing what you do bro 🙏 💪 🇬🇧
Living in a Digital Age, I get to come on here and say you looked amazing in the Arnold pre-judging. Inspirational stuff!!!!!!!
I totally relate to that feeling you had I go through that daily I rarely see much point in anything just a monotonous treadmill of life
Mate you’ve hit the nail on the head… the pressure that social media has put on everyone to be exceptional has left us in a situation where average is not enough and you have to be part of a rat race that most people would be happier not to participate in at all.
Its not just social media though, the fact that we live in a constant barrage or marketing and advertisement from ALL angles adds to the pressure.
Incredible video lads. So true and so relevant. Well said.
Strong video. Excellent topic.
Great video/message James
Really like this video lads. I honestly fill men’s mental health particularly isn’t spoken about enough. Linking that now with social media and the damage it’s causing. I personally don’t post a lot not due to negativity but due to not wanting to get fixated on the high of (likes and comments)
I started training because I just enjoyed training. Sadly I see a lot of younger guys trying to get thing’s perfect or film stuff perfectly for what it will bring.
On the other side if it’s for memories and business I understand the differences.
Thanks
James and Luis
I feel this so much - that's why I have removed myself completely from IG. Started focusing on being more present with family and friends
This is wild, to see you in the comments section of a video randomly 😂Not sure if you remember me from IG because this'll be awkward if you don't, but hope you've been well!
@@anitabazHey Anita - It has been a very long time, how's everything going? - you keeping well.
@@williammcintyre4623 I’m getting better, tbh I’ve been very much over social media and social media life (as in being a content creator and educator) so I’m taking a long break and just posting what I want, when I want with 0 pressure. Might get this CZcams thing underway or start a podcast, just going with the flow tbh! How have you been?
This is hevy, but i like the cnversation and honesty, reding up on how we can manage dopamin is my tip for the day its easy to get a too hige from gaming and social media, i can fel it to when ever i over do it
“I'm bad, and that's good! I will never be good, and that's not bad!”
“There's no one I'd rather be, than me!” - Bad Guys, Wreck it Ralph.
I feel like that right now, I feel so under pressure to show, perform etc that it makes me question so much about my life
Raw af video, we love to see it thank you lads
Hope you are both doing okay
Deleting instagram AND video streaming services AND stopping video games saved me so much time and mental space. If I want to see a movie I go to the theater or rent it online. If I want to see friends I call them or go see them in person. If I want to binge a show I get the subscription, watch the show, then end the subscription. If I want to know what’s going on in the world I listen to podcasts on Spotify. I don’t tend to get hooked on YT shorts, but I do audit my YT subscriptions once a month to make sure there’s no bs. I really only watch bodybuilding/fitness, comedy, and educational content on YT. It’s become easier to weed out time wasting content bc I’ve just used YT for so long, but even then I’ll occasionally delete the YT app and block it on my web browser.
Class video James well said
Great video ✌️❤
Hope you find what makes you happy again. ❤
Making eye contact is always difficult
Bodybuilding gets treated like a job and when the job is not fun anymore. it is good for the body and mind to step away. gym will always be there but stage is not forever.
Completely understand what your saying James. We need a normal life away from Social media etc. Or else it can take over too much.
yet they want the income from it
Completely agree James. Respect for posting your thoughts and opinions as SM can be such a toxic place
Take action. Your trying to figure things out. We don’t know and that’s okay. Find peace in the unknown let go lose control
Nah James I wannu see you train!
Reminds me of the movie The Green Mile with the magic mouse appearing. 😂
Is there anyway we can see your before and after gyno pictures or videos? So we can see a clear difference?
The word is MANIPULATION! We are getting manipulated....
MATE. KEEP MAKING UTUNE BROTHA. UR MY FAVOURITE BB ALONG WITH BRANCH AND HUNTER❤AUSTRALIA
The green Mile and the mouse think about it bro. You have your powers too .
Bodybuilding is a very extreme sport, chemically, and physically. You’re also taking all of these risks to be compared. It’s been said - “Comparison is the thief of joy” this entire sport is based on comparison. People basing their whole life on an annual competition. I love bodybuilding but this sport is killing people both mentally and physically. There is a reason why so many of your friends are passing. If you’re in the sport nowadays your a ticking time bomb. Most don’t bow out till they are about to blow. Social media is great in my opinion because it allows you guys to live a life beyond competition. You can show your personality, something that you will always have. CBum could quit bodybuilding and people would still love him regardless of who he is compared too.
❤
✍Social Media is the Beast driving the hate Train! It's all part of their social experiment to teach AI! Give the people what they don't expect, keeps them and Big Brother on their toes!💪🤳
......In some(many) ways, life and bodybulding was much easier, less pressure in the 90's 80's. The time when social media didn't really exist, only flex magazine, muscle magazine, etc and vhs/ dvd training.
Chin up Jim
Louis got the sam sulek look Goin on haahhaa ;) don't worry no homo but ur the better lookin version so don't feel bad mate
Defo does hahaah! I said that to him
@@hollingshead89 haahahha did u?!! That's jks bro
😂😂😂 a few people have said that hahaha
@@louismoylan266 lol
But it all goes back to caring about others peoples views on your rather than yourself. You learn to cut that out 90% mental health goes stay in your own lane focus on your own race and don't be a spectator. My views anyway and social media has created that thought process in peoples minds
Been to New Atlantis yet bruv?
How about interviewing former UKBFF champions. What happened after they turned pro and why it is so hard to progress from that point. Stay classy.
Chaps, if there's something on your IG that pops up that's you don't want to see more of in future, click the 3 dots at the top right hand side of the post, click "not interested" Hope this helps. 😊
Honestly it hardly does anything. Ive clicked that on so many posts it just shows you a slightly different post / page to follow. I wish it wouldn't show any suggestions.
We are all so far removed from nature it's not real....people are unhappy because they are slowly understanding this.we crave positive feedback from shit that artificially gives it and what nature gives....Ian might get a better grip on this if he has a family...like nature intended.
You only become truely awake to this world when u realise u are living a lie ✊🏻 #free
I dont pretend to know all the detail and challenges in your life, but! Focus on the feedback from your friends and family and the people you respect, evrything else is just opinion and noise so let it bounce off, great that you did this talk well done it must have been hard to take that step, very refreshing and honest. Keep going you are a fantastic individual, life is good, do what you want to do……..once you work that out you will be the first to know
