It always fascinates me to see people be so angry and hateful towards Abby. If you didnt finish the game then I understand but if you know her story then I just dont understand how you can still hate her. Shes literally the same character as Joel and Ellie. She lost someone she loved dearly which created a trauma that completely changed her and from that she made horrible decisions. Joel and Ellie both have done this. No one in the situation is a bad person or good person, they are all extremely grey.

Oh dude I love that joe as soon as like Neil says he’s not guna give Abby the satisfaction of begging or suffering but just accepts that hey this is how I’m going and you fucking get on with it! That’s a bad ass man to look death in the eye and not blink.

  • @quayrice3729

Joel always knew he'd have to pay for his decision in Part One - whether it meant being hunted by Fireflies or Ellie hating him forever. I like to imagine he made peace with that.

The most painful thing in video game history -

  • @ninjarob187

That just goes to show you what kind of person Troy Baker is. Here he is getting brutally murdered in game and he's more worried about how Ashley feels in that moment and what she has to endure. You can hear it in his voice. He almost lost it just talking about the scene. Thats genuine parental love. You never want someone you care about to have to endure anything painful and when they do, even though this had to happen in the game, he still feels responsible for causing ashley this emotional pain even though he didnt write the script for this scene. It just really speaks to what kind of person he is in real life.

One shot is the best technique to make us feel tension. Plus that bass in minor key which starts at the start also indicates danger.

Thank you so much for uploading these! I've been searching the whole CZcams to watch director's commentary since it's actually the most interesting part of the remaster for me. Hope you'll upload scenes from the Abby section, especially her confrontation with Ellie. I'm dying to know what they have to say. 🙏

I hate the joffrey baratheon level hate laura bailey got for this role. Like how dumb do you have to be to hate someones portrayal of a fiction character so much you trash on a real human being with a life and feelings? I get it, the revenge bad thing is forced and doesnt even come close to the emotional impact of the first game, but have some critical thought. Poor woman did her job and did it well.

what troy says about filming this scene makes me cry every time i watch the commentary.

  • @thebacklogisreal

This is such a powerful scene. Even now, it still does not pull a single punch.

  • @Djninja97

Seeing Joel die like this makes me angry but I’m crying at the same time 😢😢😢

  • @MrBen-zv1ip

I feel like people like me who have finished the game still hate abby because she made joel suffer when joel killed her father rather quickly. Like joel was saving someone where abby was just guning for revenge. And idc about Elle tbh

  • @MrEnklave

I hated this, I hated Abby and playing as her was so difficult. But in the end, it was so unique and after all that you understood why she was doing all the things.

  • @anthonywalker-browning4432

While I love the game my biggest issue with the story was its told in such a way that the devs make it AS HARD AS POSSIBLE to show any sympathy towards Abby. Other than Owen none of the group show redeeming qualities in any capacity. Nora,Jordan, Manny - gave me nothing to latch onto to sympathize with. I wonder if they had switched to Abby after Elle and Dina leave if it would have helped. Especially after riding the high off the island sequence and being as shocked as Abby to finding Owen and Mel dead. Love the game and get what they were going for but still

  • @jeffghant4760

I had the pleasure of not knowing what was going to happen in this scene. It was really intense.

  • @artheals8869

I’ve always been somewhere in the middle with how I felt about the story, but I’ve kind of come to love that wherever I look there’s people that absolutely hate the story, and then there’s people who absolutely love it. I’ve come to the conclusion that the story accomplished exactly what it set out to do. Yes, I think the pacing is off and I think a little adjusting to the sequence of events would’ve made the story more powerful, but I can’t say that the story is horrible, I think there are elements that are absolutely note worthy.

  • @kal6957

As someone who knew Joel died before playing, the build-up was just as tense as they were going for. Every camera movement it feels like there are more of them. Truly felt like our two horses, Joel and Tommy, had walked right into a wolf den. Can't wait for this sequence in season 2 of the show.

  • @cameronhitz3509

The fact that joel died night after ellie and joel reconciled is kinda thematic call back to future days song. The dark twist is that there wont be future days with them together ellie has to imagine what life moving forward would of been like, this connects to her looking back to better days when they were happy and vibing

  • @samuelrangel9483

I was one of the ppl who hated the game and didn’t want to play it after I learned how Joel died. But I needed the closure so I bought the game and after finishing it, it leaves you w that same feeling Ellie feels at the end mostly because you get to see Abby’s story and how she gets the relationship w Lev just like how Joel and Ellie were in pt 1.. all in all it’s a sad game but it’s a great one nonetheless
