@@bri-xcx nah I think joel dying pissed people off more than making them cry. Many considered it poorly executed and done too early so the emotion showed between many reactors was anger and disappointment
@@poordude2175 I was more sad than angry when Joel died. As soon as I learned we were playing as Ellie, I was certain Joel would die. I was sad it was so brutal, but that was the logical ending of twenty years spent making enemies.
I was genuinely baffled that people were angry at first, but then I got it. I think it's partly not even about Joel. In a game, the agency of the player meant that it wasn't just Joel who shot up the hospital, it was the player. And the second game said Joel and by extension the player were wrong for doing so and faced the consequences for what many players felt was a heroic rescue of Ellie.
To be sure,it is partly because people loved Joel, but I do think the TLOU2 blaming Joel (and the player) angered a lot of people.
@@Pro_Butcher_Amateur_Human I get maybe you liked it. But they literally faked how Joel looked in trailers and made it seem like we had more time with him. Regardless if it was to hide the reveal, we anticipated getting at least, shit, an hour with Joel. Instead we get 12 hours with his murderer. And yeah maybe Joel was in the wrong, it's human nature. Look at the Amber V. Johnny case. They BOTH were in the wrong, Amber for being crazy, and Johnny because he stayed, if Johnny was someone like Trump, someone who I, myself, and many others dislike, he wouldn't of had a chance. This isn't about right or wrong, it's about who we care about, if his death was done better, Ellie's gameplay was better, or we were given just a little bit more time with Joel, people wouldn't hate this game.

After all this time I still kinda get what Neil want to tell about this particular story, not gonna lie Part II isn’t my cup of coffee/tea but I can appreciate it for what is it and I strongly believe it would benefit from being adapted to TV via HBO’s second season tv adaptation.
I think Craig Mazin can fix Part 2 and flesh out its ideas and themes better.
