    An old manor house stands by the shores of Lakeside, on the Skarloey Railway. Most of the engines remain respectfully silent whenever they pass it - except for Duncan, who is unaware of both the true nature of the house, and the tragic lives of its inhabitants…

    I do not blame Peter for what he did. He and Jane did love each other so much.

      I know, right? Honestly, if anyone I cared for was made to suffer like that, I’d want to see to it that those responsible were brought to justice myself.

      @@TARDIS9 that's what true justice can be. I've been impressed with your story series that I've grown to inspire you. Clearly you and me share something similar in how we tell our stories and our own canons in the NWR or RWS universe of Thomas & Friends. I see further potential in you.

      Aw, thanks, man! That really means a lot coming from you. Believe me, I've got quite a few things in mind for this channel (can't say when they'll be ready, though. Still gotta put my Masters Degree first, but then we've all gotta be Really Useful after all!). Hope you're doing well. Again, sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. All the best, m8!

    That love story was so sad that it gives Romeo And Juliet a run for it’s money. But I have hope that the couple would reunite, despite the fact that their encounter with Duncan knocked the plain-speaking engine to sense.

    Damn........ Jane and Peter's story would put Romeo and Juliet to shame with what they suffered through and which lead to their sad fate as well as Jane's heartless family's demise as well as the downfall of "Sir Frederick" (I'd say it was her family's own fault and "Sir Frederick" that they ended up being star-crossed lovers in the first place).
    But, at the very least, Duncan is now humbled by what he heard about their fate and petrified beyond belief to the point that, even for a little while, the others kept a solemn silence whenever they pass Montague House.
    However, I'm mixed on Jane and Peter's final fate as Skarloey detailed. Sure, they may be destined to never find each other again on one hand, but on the other, it's often known that love will always find a way even for star-crossed lovers. As much as I don't want to bust Skarloey's words and burst his bubble about Peter and Jane's sad fate, I deeply and fiercely hope/wish that they WILL reunite and they can be happy once more just as intended.

      Well, I am thinking of maybe doing a sequel to this (though I just need to figure out how this can be done, as well as find a railway event I can use in the story), but maybe not for a few months, to avoid it being too similar to 'The Bluebell Ghosts', you see.

    What do you think would've happened to Lady Jane's family and Peter if he hadn't gone on his rampage?

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 3 lety +6

      Considering they were killed around the late 19th-early 20th century, it is likely that Peter would have been arrested, put on trial and either transported to the colonies or executed for killing Sir Frederick. As for Lady Jane's family, it is possible that word would have got out about her relationship with Peter, and they, while having significant influence to cover up their daughter's death, would still be the target of scandal in their social set.

      @@TARDIS9 Two more questions:
      1. What would've happened to her family if the public managed to find out the truth of what they did to their daughter? Would they have been punished as well?
      2. What do you mean by the colonies? Do you mean the early United States after they gained their independence?

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 3 lety +4

      1. No, since they had enough influence to hold some sway over the court. Likely they would have blackmailed the court into letting them go. But public opinion of them would certainly have plummeted.
      2. No. I meant Australia or New Zealand! Peter and Jane's story takes place in the 19th Century, when prisoners were still sent to Australia and New Zealand, both of which were part of the British Empire, and Sodor is a part of the United Kingdom. So, in all honesty, sending Peter to America at this point would be out of historical context, and inaccurate, which would be against Gawdry's writing style.

      @@TARDIS9 I see. The reason I asked the second question was because I thought the tragedy took place much earlier before Skarloey and Rheneas arrived on the railway in 1865.

    Just like lwp’s out of sight, I can see some slight, though more direct inspiration from shunterproductions’s horror at ballahoo manor.

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 11 měsíci

      Not really. In fact, the story Skarloey tells Duncan was originally its own standalone thing, written for a challenge during a meeting with my university’s Creative Writing society when I was doing my undergraduate degree. It was meant to be reflective of the sort of ghost stories you’d tell around a campfire (as was the challenge). The bits with the Skarloey engines were added much later when I thought it would be fun to make the thing into a RWS-style story as a wraparound. If anything, the fact that it may feel like it has drawn inspiration from ‘Horror At Ballahoo Manor’ is just pure coincidence.
