  • A brand new story to see in the new year (albeit a couple of weeks late!) and to keep you all up on this cold winter's night...
    The big engines claim that only they are deserving of bells and whistles. Toby the Tram Engine decides to set the record straight by telling them about an incident from his past... an incident with tragic, yet haunting consequences...

    Does anyone still think Tristan still haunts the area even after the tramway closed? Or do they think that his spirit has finally moved on?

    that was definitely a spooky story to listen, i never knew there was an older steam tram engine that use to work on toby's old line before he even arrived. at least you did a nice job on doing the audio story.

    Toby’s Flashback took place between 1932-1939 prior to World War II.

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 2 lety +2

      Erm, actually, no it doesn’t. Around 1945-6, Toby was still working with his brothers in a harbour during the events of ‘Toby’s Seaside Holiday’, and had yet to arrive on the tramway in the first place. By 1951, the tramway had closed and Toby was sent to Sodor. Therefore, his flashback takes place AFTER World War II, specifically from 1945-1951!

  • @elirosen1391
    @elirosen1391 Před 2 lety +6

    I will say this. As your stories go, this one is very good, but also very confusing. I find it hard to understand how the subplots about Toby's arrogance and the mean-spirited lorry driver tie into the theme of how all engines deserve whistles and bells, and how a whistle is a sign of respect. Nevertheless, you succeeded in spinning a pretty chilling tale. Tristan was such a tragic character. And his end was not like others' such as Albert, 98642 or 87546 in that he did nothing to bring it on, which only made it more gut-wrenching. May Gawdry bless his soul.

      Ah, thanks! I really like a good ghost story myself, and felt it was time for a change from the ghosts being of those who caused their own fates. My apologies if the subplots didn’t quite fit in - I’ve just been so busy with work that I guess I forgot to explain their significance. However, I have an idea for a sequel which may explain their significance a little more (I don’t normally do sequels, unless I feel there is a need for one, as may well be the case here). Thanks, all the same, man!

      @@TARDIS9 i look forward to seeing it! I don't think the anguished cries of Tristan in his dying moments will ever leave my head. In your opinion, do all engines go through that level of agony when they're scrapped?

    • @TARDIS9
      @TARDIS9  Před 2 lety +4

      I’d guess so. It probably depends on how it all happens, and whether they’re even conscious at the time (considering some were scrapped after an accident that left them beyond repair). My apologies for not answering this sooner - lot of stuff irl has been happening to me as of late. Thanks! :)

      Well, actually, not deliberately. It was kinda a little bit more out of me thinking of a book character called Tristram Shandy. I just liked the name and felt it made a fitting parallel to Toby. However, I do see what you mean - it does also seem appropriate that his name has the word ‘tram’ in it! ;)
