Flooded Railroad In Wisconsin & Street Running Steam Train In Iowa, Empress Steam Locomotive Sample!

- Railroad Line Completely Under Water In Wisconsin & The Empress Steam Train Street Running In Iowa. My First Visit To Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin To See The Flooded Mississippi River & To Chase The Canadian Pacific Railway Steam Train As It Runs Down The Middle Of The Road In Clinton, Iowa. This is the special CPKC train that ran from Canada to Mexico and back. I caught it on its way back.
First we see the flooded Mississippi River as I drive from Marquette, Iowa to Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. This is my first time to ever be in Wisconsin. I wanted to film a train there but the tracks were under water. This line runs up the river a few more miles and then dead ends. I filmed it under water at West Lockwood Street at the sewage treatment plant. After that I drove to Bloomington, Illinois where I spent the night and filmed trains the next day there. That video will be posted soon.
Next we see the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Southern Railroad steam train. This is just one of my samples from the chase. I chased it from Davenport, Iowa to Marquette, Iowa. This video shows a clip of it street running in Clinton, Iowa. That was awesome seeing a steam train running in the middle of the road! The locomotive is 94 years old and burns oil. The tenders are for water. Look how long that train was! I will have a lot more video of it soon. I just wanted to use one clip as soon as possible and chose one of the street running towns.
The last train is a long coal train running southbound just north of Green Island, Iowa. The train has a DPU on the rear. The train is empty and has Union Pacific Railroad power. When I was chasing the steam train I noticed this train and knew the steam train would have to stop for it since the line is single track. So I got an extra train for my video! That was really awesome. I was blessed. I also got to meet a lot of railfans. Interestingly, most if not all of them already knew me. Lol.
Make sure you check with my channel for videos of the steam train. I am going to start posting them and other trains that I filmed on the trip. I will have trains such as Iowa Interstate crossing the Mississippi River, Amtrak trains in Bloomington, Illinois with the new Amtrak paint scheme and trains in Danville, Illinois at the railroad diamonds. This video also has the usual slide show that comes from the video and it will include Lillias new kitten for those who haven't seen him yet.

I see it when it comes through utah up in Ogden at the train museum. That's a pretty cool place. Ya can take the Trax Frontrunner train from there to Murray Station and places south. If you're in Utah again, let me know, I'll point ya to some other cool railfan spots too

Too bad the 2 locomotives behind the CP steam engine weren't the ones where the logo from '68-'86 was nicknamed "the pacman logo" (due to the popularity of PacMan in the early '80's).

That is such a beautiful train, I don't have words to do it justice! On a side note, if I were an engineer, I wouldn't take my train over the flooded rails. Also, I'd hesitate to cross the river from Iowa to Wisconsin! Great catch of the steam train! 😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤

The crowds were huge! The trick was trying to find spots where the crowd wasn't. I chased it all the way to Marquette

The rail line at the beginning is owned by the Wisconsin Southern.
Coal train is an empty heading back to the coal mines of Wyoming. CPKC 852 is the symbol.

A lot of interesting variety in this video! That flooded Mississippi River reminds me of a couple of “100 year floods” we had in southwest Washington and northwest Oregon back in the winter of 1996-1997. It was crazy. I was driving from Longview, Washington to the coast on the Oregon side of the Columbia River (a shorter, faster route) and at one point where Oregon Highway 30 is at least a mile from the river, it was flooded on both sides of the highway for a couple of miles. Two “hundred year floods” just a few months apart - November 1996 and February 1997.
Anyway, I digress. Great footage here Jaw Tooth! I enjoyed every second of it! Lilia’s new kitten is adorable. Looks exactly like our cat Sandy when we rescued her as a kitten. Sandy is 16 years old now, and she’s still going strong.

You were heading into Prairie du Chein where years ago there was a Milwaukee Road sideways floating swing bridge that linked up with Marquette Iowa. North of Villa Loise many old passenger cars, a wrecker and old cabooses are stored. Great area, liked it much. Thanks JT!

Beautiful locomotive, just returned to excursion service this year. Similar story to UP's 4014, complete rebuild after being on static display for many years, to preserve CP's steam legacy

You finally made it to . Y native state. I grew up not far from Quad Cities near Muscatine. Iowa has had an over Abundance of rain and this is not normal. Whole state is. That way as are Minnesota and Wisconsin. Love your videos.

You are just south of where I spent 4 years in the late 60s and early 70s. LaCrosse, WI. My step brother was an engineer on the Milwaukee Road.

Canadian Pacific bought KCS and now runs through our town but the steam train went through Shreveport south and didn't come our way. Every time I see the train I think of the song "Canadian Pacific" by George Hamilton IV. I'm hoping they continue the Christmas Train and would pull it with the steam locomotive.
There Mississippi is indeed flooding as a lot of the upper midwest (South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Nebraska) are all getting a lot of rain. On the US Hwy 18 bridge from Marquette to Prairie du Chien (pronounced "Sheen") you went over the main channel on the Marquette side, then an island (which was flooded) then a side channel on the Wisconsin side. A lot of that ground along the CP tracks are naturally marshy ground.

Interesting how the Kansas City Southern passenger cars were repainted to match the CP cars but kept the Kansas City Southern lettering.
I was surprised how long the train was. I got a room in a motel next to the tracks and I was able to get the window open a few inches. I didn't take a chance on missing it and got to see some freight
PDC has Milwaukee Road cabooses in fenced yard. The signal is to cross the BNSF. Empty coal train from portage Wisconsin. Power plant just south of portage
Mississippi River is a good area to watch trains in Wisconsin especially in West central Wisconsin couple nice towns to film trains in Alma wi and fountain city wi

JT comes to the Father of Waters and got a wet welcome. @1:25 you finally got over the main Channel as the Mississippi backwaters here are extensive. The tracks with all the water over them is former Milwaukee Road trackage now the Wisconsin and Southern. In the distance was a transload facility for Frac sand that is trucked in from Iowa. Beyond that is the collection of older train cars and at the end is now a loop with two grain dumping facilities into barges Great view of the train on the street in Clinton and then the coal train out in the country. From La Crosse to the Quad Cities starting with the big floods of the early nineties virtually thousands of cars of rip rap and ballast have been poured out on this route to raise the track level. That unit train over the years has seen at least four different routings to the Wisconsin Power and Light Columbia plant near Portage WI and is smaller in car count (this was 114) and additionally only has two units most of the time. Looking forward to the next installment and sorry about the sogginess and just a note that PD Chien is pronounced like Charlie Sheen
