I'm loving the comic book style in the illustrations, as well as the eye movements. A chilling, but also rather lighthearted start to this season. Will be interesting to see how things escalate from this point onwards.

This is a nice little story. Not much scary but in the middle.
Nice to see that Toby's old tramway Branchline is connected to Thomas' Branchline. I actually like this in canon. So Toby doesn't just leave Thomas Branchline and stuff like in the TV series.
The artstyle here is definitely something you see in a magazine. And this makes sense in a way since for this year's Tale from the Scrap Siding, it's formated into a comic book. Like the small effects in it.
Overall a good slightly scary story for a start. Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us for this year's Tale from the Scrap Siding's stories.
Yeah, a tame start, but hopefully the next stories will be more in line with what ya'll are liking
I think my only negative with this story is the voice the person playing Toby is putting on. He makes Toby sound more like Charlie from the CGI era (or something along the lines of that) than what Toby would normally sound like. But besides that though, I still think this was a nice tame story to start off this years Tales from the Scrap Siding story selection. And I can't wait to see how much darker things get from here :)

@@MickeyFan1909 Oh I see, that's makes more sense now. We'll in that regard I'd say you did a pretty nice at capturing that type of Toby voice, even if I'm not the biggest fan of that version, you still did well. Don't take what said earlier personally (if you did anyways idk)
If you don’t mind, I have a story idea for next year if you want.
Title: “No Rest for the Weary”
Synopsis: When Percy hears the boulder heading towards his direction, he whistles loudly to alert the workmen which clears the area.
The boulder comes into view and then turns towards Percy where, whistling in horror, he’s then crushed by the boulder.
Everyone is devastated by this and a funeral line is made to accompany Percy’s remains to the smelter’s yard.
Two weeks later, Gordon is taking a late night express through a heavy fog, all the while grumbling about speed restrictions and missing out on a nice warm shed.
His driver tries to make light of the situation when he notices a shape in the distance. It soon becomes apparent that it’s an engine on the line!
Gordon brakes as hard as he could, stopping just inches from the engine. He’s about to give the engine a piece of his mind when he notices just who is in front of him.
There, in front of a rapidly palling Gordon, is Percy with a sad smile on his face.
Gordon and his crew can’t say anything until the fireman notices, in the fading fog, that the line ahead of Gordon is covered in a massive landslide.
This shakes Gordon out of his stupor and he tries to thank Percy, but Percy vanishes in front of Gordon.
Shaken up by this, Gordon reverses his express to the nearest station to let off passengers and try to get a good night’s sleep.
Next morning, a somber Gordon tells the others what he saw last night and how Percy prevented a serious accident.
Ever since that day, unnatural events kept occurring that kept people and engines from getting injured in accidents, on all the rail lines on Sodor.
The engines quickly realize that Percy has been trying to keep everyone safe even from beyond the grave.
This sparks all the engines to wear a coat of green with red stripes to honor a friend who’s care for others spoke from beyond the grave.
Unbeknownst to everyone, a very happy Percy sees this and, sensing another accident, slowly fades away to help another engine in need.
A sad sweet story indeed. Though I never am one for killing characters off. I'll keep it in mind, or if you wanna make this story yourself, you're welcome to it.

Loving the comic book style illustrations and moving eyes. And what a nice way to start off this year’s stories. Looking forward to seeing what comes next. :)
This is a great story about Toby relocating to his old stomping grounds after Oliver rediscovered it. I really love the comic illustrations (which somehow reminded me of the Thomas' YT World Tour videos), and how you animated the eyes to move.
The story itself also reminded me a little of Henry's Nightmare in a few parts.

The village or Marthwaite has been dealing with odd fog. It was discovered to be errant industrial smog from Arlesburgh. Measures are being taken to prevent this. Normal owls cited. No Hagsfiend.

Oliver’s wreck at Arlesdale End resulted in no injuries, barely. The guard is being sent to the doctor for preliminary checks. Trestle bridge above the great wall will need to be replaced. Assign Oliver to assignment due to weight limit testing.
Oh, I see that, it’s the old tramway that Toby used to work on before the roads took over and it remained abandoned after Toby left for Thomas’ branch line until after Oliver was turned onto the old line by mistake and made a wonderful discovery of Toby’s old line
Quite a good and soft start for the third season, I really like the comic book style in the illustration, even if it was a bit spooky this was still a great story with a happy ending. Very nice job the audio story along with the voice actors that took part of it.
I’ll be looking forward on seeing the next audio story soon. 🙂👍
Not as spooky as I had originally thought it'd be, but I love a happy ending, and this story has that 😄
It’s nice to see that the psychological aspect of fear is showcased than physical horror. Everyone can get lost in their thoughts more easily until it eats them alive.
Honestly I like this first story from Jason Beech, it's a nice little breather episode with a happy ending to boot. It's always refreshing to get a not-so-scary story once in a while!
Love how the animation looks like it came out of a Thomas Annual from the 90s!!
There’s a subtle bit of genius here that I don’t think people have noticed yet.
The story’s clearly got a different vibe to it- Toby being like his HiT era self, the horror being psychological rather than paranormal, the happy part going on for longer than expected. It’s not the usual ghost story we hear on Tales from the Scrap Siding.
This starts to make sense when you remember it’s Beech, the new guy, telling the tale. Of course then newbie would have a different sort of story telling to the rest of the spirits.
This, along with the next story having something to do with Fiddle Yards, makes me think that season 3 is an experimental season. But, hey, that’s just my opinion.
Odd music choice for the last part, but pretty good besides. Excellent visuals, really captured the artstyle of the old magazines and drawn VHS tape covers.

Not a bad story! Not really a fan of the voice of tony though, but its still a decent story. I did like Toby's nightmare .

while the writing and voice acting could have used a few more preruns before being published, the story concept and artwork certainly helped it work as something interesting enough

Now Toby's fear and wimpiness makes sense like a nightmare. weird to make Toby like the Hit Era but its good Toby see happy about the old line.

I gotta say, having a happy ending is quite a nice change.
I love the premise of this story. Being about the rediscovery of tobys old line and toby qorrying is an interesting dynamic.
Only crtique i would have would be the voiceing of some of the characters , toby honestly is alittle to whiny, like if it was toned down refectling his age it would work. Another one would be some of the music choices just dont vibe with them , plus they feel very out of place.
Otherwise great story , truly an interesting concept. I really do love the rediscovery and reclaiming of ones past. Especially love the idea of making tobys shed a museum , very great idea there , plus the interaction woth oliver . Great stuff

This story sure worked to its intended purposes. I felt Toby's feeling of impending doom through out. I'm glad It was just a dream however. I mean surely Toby didn't think the Fat Controller would send him up his old line in such a wretched state?
True, but then again, dream logic doesn't work with actual logic.

So far a happy start and end to the first story of 2023 Halloween, but the next 5 will probably not be having any happy endings....
The artwork looks beautiful!
The little dots makes it look like it's in DC illustrations like how the DC Minis are designed!
The faces look like S17 and 18 lighting and how James A Williams draws his engines.
Thomas' face looks like his "Down the mine" model.

As for making the eyes move,I animated them on a different layer separate from the first layer and third layer (which was the white of the eyes)

I do like the new comic book art style makes the stories feel unique, but I don’t think this one was really that scary. I don’t mind a story with happy endings especially ghost stories but I think the happy part just went on a bit too long, this story kind of peaks with Toby‘s nightmare and that’s about it. Still it wasn’t horrible it’s a nice story just one I don’t really feel like belongs in a ghost story series. So yeah not my favourite but still looking forward to the next one

Toby is so out of character in this, I’d say the pacing is also off. It could have been improved via another engine being the main focus, and them actually finding something interesting. Alternatively a short mystery plot line could have been nice, possibly the discovery of something that was left behind. Maybe Toby’s old manager hung himself or something. No offense though to the people that worked on this. Last year I really enjoyed this series and every who made it is very talented, however I guess not every story can be perfect. Ps if you want a script writer that would work for free please let me know (I have been technically published and am focusing on making writing into a career someday, so I would be well qualified)
