    What about gluing the surround at the bottom as well as to the studs behind and providing support until it dries? I am installing this same surround now and the instructions call for that. Otherwise it is only attached at the top.

      @@CreativeProcessDIY if you silicone all seams , can water get through the silicone if it's not kept up or done the right way? which can lead to water behind the walls? I ask this because when i was looking for a company to do mine all of them mentioned they were going to put some type of green board behind the wall surrounds. So i was confused when I saw all your videos and nothing behind them.

    Question. (Im just learning and new to all this). Do you need to add anything behind the tub surround walls? What if water goes behind the caulk in those cracks that join the panels together somehow.

    • @edlopez5768

      Don't follow these instructions. The pipes in the wall in this video are galvanized. Same as showering in rust. Not to mention he made the wall stick out away from the shower handle. The finishing ring will not hold... I can go on. Please don't do it like this. He didn't show the finished product for a reason. I'm sure adjustments had to be made to make it work

    I’d apply glue to the studs liberally and then put the walls I’m and screw the down. The will keep the walls from moving and flexing when you touch the walls.

    • @CreativeProcessDIY
      @CreativeProcessDIY  Před rokem

      it would be a great idea but because of design of the walls for this model (they are not touching the studs in the middle) you can only apply glue on the top where you have to screw the walls into place. I don't think it will make any diffrence...anyway they will flex/move a bit once fully installed.

    The gaps between the 3 walls can they be caulked shut or does it have a purpose? I just moved to a new apartment and I have seen roaches going in those spaces so I want to caulk it so they don't have a place to hide would that cause any issues ?

  • @edlopez5768

    Don't do it this way. There is a lot missing. Not the best idea to install a shower without a moisture barrier. Also the tub needs to be set properly with a cement setting underneath. Fiberglass is strong but over time it will break. Levels are a must. Level your tub to ensure flow. Caulking is missing between the panels... don't follow this guy. Your home will be destroyed. Go on this old house. You will get better info.

      Dude you’re the one that don’t know what you’re talking about. The tub comes with flow built in, as for setting it in concrete? Maybe if it was a 10,000 bath install. A few pieces of tar paper underneath will take care of these “run of the mill” cheap delta tubs. Gzz, give the guy a break…

    Call me a dunce but why does he have insulation behind the surround? I can understand to lessen drafts and added warmth but doesn't he need a backer or durock board to absorb moisture? Or just plywood to glue it to? I'm the epitomy of an amateur for any home project but to me it seems like obvious mishaps. I'm just saying 🤷

      Thanks, I've seen another video installation done the same way. I done have a kit so no instructions to read. So you're saying backer board or durock isn't necessarily needed for the surround since no grout is used. What about moisture build up for mold? I have 2 bathrooms to change. A walk in shower on 1st floor. and just surround on the bsmt bathroom that has the tub.
