The paper clip missing one major fact and that is the turning tool. As most kids just do know that or yet to discover that you need a turning tool. All the movies just show you the picks yet never really the turning tools. So for kids not knowing about the turning tool will yield them in almost no results and will then resort to damage to gain entry if they really want it. Now I wonder if this box can be opened with a mallet. He did say spring tension and that makes me think of a hammer. So you never know.
I used to make a paperclip into a squeezable device that would depress both side at the same time and it would open most simple wafer locks like this with a simple squeeze and twist.
Usually the gun safety stuff seems to make him angrier when they turn out to be cheap trash, and you can especially see it in the police gun locks he's done.
I think it’s a fluke that companies don’t just enlist LPL in their design process as a consultant to avoid the humiliation of being opened “by a curious adolescent”.
Consultants exist, and the engineers in those companies aren't stupid. They know what they are selling. They care about amazon reviews, not about one bad review from an expert that noone will see. Well, maybe this will change going forward thanks for LPL and his audience.
You know sending locks to be tested by LPL isn't actually a bad idea not only does it mean you can improve existing designs but it also means you can get an entire audience who may just buy your lock if it's considered decent

Flemish froze as a distinctive language in 1914, with no real cultural drive to keep up. The language drift from the German Atlantic Coast, along the Rhine, and as far as Lille and Calais is considerable. The Dutch mutation of the G is far harder than the Flemish, for example. I'd better stop or I'll be imitating my boss, a qualified Flemish legal interpreter!

LPL, you should consider doing a series where you recommend a type of lock for a certain use case. As in, “for a school locker, considering the value of objects it’s trying to secure and the skill and toolset of an average person in the building, I would use this type of lock”. You wouldn’t have to recommend exact locks or even brands, but just give us an idea on the type of lock you would use.
I wonder if somewhere there are restroom toilet roll holders locked with abloy protecs, as there was just a mixup at the factory and the locks got switched. That’s the only explanation I can come up with for the existence of terrible gun safes like these.
As matter of fact, I was curious about. I went to restroom at work, toilet paper lock has extremely crazy keyway. If I were to pick it, I would need a custom tensioner. Even so, the warding are so crazy, I’m not sure I if I can slip a pick in there.

For anything that he uses the rake method for, after you spend 60 seconds figuring out what that means with the tools hes using, you can probably do it about as fast. He could probably pick this lock with a paper clip or a Bobby pin in less than 30 seconds
In this case it's pretty clear that anyone who's just received their very first wave rake and understands how to use the tension tool would open it in seconds, just by randomly raking the lock.
I've been watching LPL for awhile and finally bought my first pick set. The first lock I tried to pick was easy. Bought a better lock and picked it easy. It all depends if you watch this channel.

The idea of a mechanical backup is in case a flat battery stops the electronic lock from working, so you would not be able to get at the keyhole with a flat battery.

In this channel I learned that the bare minimum real security is disk detainer lock guarding a tubular pin tumbler lock wich is guarding ANOTHER disk detainer lock.

I use a similar trick on semi trucks that we don't have keys for that a customer will drop off at our shop. We have a few spare keys for most makes. Put one in the ignition and rake it back and forth while keeping tension and it eventually turns. Kind of satisfying.

As children we had homemade tools we used regularly to test every lock we encountered.

If i made these safes i would put a fingerprint sensor on the safe that would open a little door revealing a keyhole for it to be unlocked with a key
