I started watching Elvis Presley movies in 1962 and I played a lot of his songs on the piano. I have almost 5000 friends of Elvis Presley on Facebook.

Good grief, the first time I've watched this video, there are different versions which I'm used to, just after the beginning there's the full view of him, took my breath away, the most handsome man to walk this earth, he was an adonis here.
I've loved him for 61 years rediculous really but there are still hundreds of millions of women and men who feel the same way still and always will.
    Thank you from the UK
THE KING IS GONE, LONG LIVE THE KING ❤️

Gotta love it!! If you haven't heard it, you should listen to the studio version of this that Elvis recorded in 1956. Over the years the the "little darlin' " changed to "toenail darlin' ". Elvis' original band had only two members besides him. Then a drummer was added early on. The bass player had died in '65, but Elvis requested that the other two members join him on the '68 Special. They hadn't been together in about ten years and came in last minute. They had no time to rehearse, but when the director heard them jammin' in the dressing room he told them to just do that on stage. There wasn't enough room for the drums so you might notice the drummer was using a guitar case.

That show the colonel sold only a limited number of tickets, elvis wasn't happy so had his bows go out into the street outside the studio and asked who wanted to see elvis, they then went to the next studio where they were filming something like the price is right and interrupted that doing the same thing. I believe they had to rotate the crown in and out so they all got to take part and that's why they are all the way up to the stage.

If you had listen before he started singing this song, they were talking and one of his band members asked him to sing this song for one of the band members. Elvis made the commit that this guy was always quite and shy, hardly ever said much, at first he said No he wouldn't sing it for him (just joking) So when he says Good Bye Tornell Darling, that was the guy that wanted him to sing it. If you watch, when he sings it, he looks at him and grins ! I've got the whole concert, but it's on VHS, I recorded it.

Once read that it was the name of a female - Ternell. It does sound like Elvis says toenail but he did sometimes change the words to songs for a bit of fun.

Yes, he was saying "toenail darlin'"! Lol! I believe he was making a subtle humorous inference to her name "Miss Clawdy," with the emphasis on "CLAW"! Haha! Elvis had a wild, lightning-fast sense of humor! :=D

There are lots of great songs from this jam session. A couple of my favorites are: Elvis Presley - Baby What You Want Me To Do (1968 TV Special) (3:54) and Elvis Presley - Tiger Man ('68 Comeback Special) (2:40). I hope you'll react to these. I think you'd love them too.

Supposedly the gal's name was Tornell & he changed it to toenail; compare this to the 1972 version at czcams.com/video/lCZys7JDYyY/video.html & at which concert he does How Great Thou Art at czcams.com/video/XlfcvUtUoOM/video.html; thx for your nice reactions.

You cut out a good part of the song: the way he drags out the "we-e-e-e-e-l-l-l."
A little trivia about this show: Elvis didn't want to do it. At the last minute, he refused to go onstage, too scared that he "didn't have it anymore." The director Bones Howe had to go backstage and talk him into doing. And then The King comes out and gives a performance that good!
