I love that Forest Gump's first memory was meeting Elvis and now Tom Hanks is playing his manager and the villain. It's almost like Tom Hanks is establishing himself as an immortal icon like Elvis.

King Creole with his favorite from what I understand it was also my favorite and I loved Follow that dream! Wild in the country Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas and I do believe he had acting chops but from what I understand he was not given the opportunity after the movies became formulaic movies. That was conflict between Colonel Parker and and Elvis and he was disappointed he was not able to go abroad

I like your authentic reaction I do believe Elvis Presley had some acting chopped if he had been given the opportunity and I believed that in Follow that dream... was a an example of how Elvis's acting chops using using his wittiness played up the comedy scenes so well that it was Elvis revealing his range and left us with memorable moments noting that he could have gone on to exhibit and share more Talent with us hadd he b e e n given the desirable roles that he wished for later on in his movie career.

He said that he spent more time in the makeup chair, than the apes in Planet of the Apes. LOL
This makes me smile so much, that younger people are finally learning about Elvis.
I have read so many false statements about him from young people.
I am a senior and lived through all of this.
I have adored Elvis since I was a toddler.
It is impossible to begin to explain to those who were not there, how huge he was.
Movie after movie, records consistently, and you could not go anywhere that you did not see his face on magazines.
It warms my heart that people are learning the true story of who he was.
I raised my own children on his music.
Now their children know.
He literally changed the course of American music and was a legend in his own time. ...and he was such a caring soul..... always helping others.
All this is quite authenticâŠgirlsâ reactions, costumes etc..).
The cinematography is exceptional.
I think what most young people do not understand is that in the fifties , we had never seen anything even CLOSE to this!
Our music was country, gospel, swing, blues, Lawrence Welk, Perry Como, Dean Martin and yes Dinah Shore with her âDoggy in the Windowâ ! All rather tame..... our parents music....
We young people felt excitement with music for the first time....and WHAT excitement it was!
I've had young people today tell me they were so shocked at these reactions, because his gyrating is nothing by today's standards.
It was another world then.
We felt excitement down to our soul when he danced and sang.
Some parents thought it was vulgar ..thankfully not mine.
They knew there was no need.
The local record store called me every time a new record was in.
I would jump on my bicycle and rush to the store. LOL
In the seventies at his live concerts, the reactions were still the same.
The first time I saw him in person, when he walked out, I was turned to stone.
He called my friend up to the stage! (but that is a whole story in itself. LOL)
Everyone was screaming and I could not even move.
He had charisma that permeated through, right down to your seat!
We were not allowed to camp out for tickets.
We had to mail and hope we were given good seats.
The minute it was announced, we jumped in our car and drove 30 miles to mail our money order, (they did not accept checks) from the city in which he was appearing.... in hopes that it would arrive there quicker.
I once bought a second row seat from a scalper.
Still one of the best nights of my life...
We would stalk the airport :-) ...try to get off the elevator on his floor of the hotel.. without much success. LOL
Such fond memories. I have a huge 'storage' of Elvis memories.
For those who do not know⊠when they announce here, "Elvis has left the building'âŠThis was what they announced repeatedly at the end of every 70âs concert.
They knew we young women were running all around trying to find him. LOL

He really made that statement .."I'm going to be forty , and no one will remember me.â

I would like for you to react to each song in King Creole because I think they were really great and I enjoyed his acting ability in while in the country and now this was one of his best also. And I thought Follow that dream was wonderful wonderful and I loved Viva Las Vegas because I'd love to see them together there was chemistry Talent and a lot of love and this movie was cute. T-shirts and great acting Talent and those few please especially Follow that dream and King Creole and wild in the country and Jailhouse Rock

Some idiot thought the Captain Marvel & lightening bolt on his clothes a pandering or grab for the superhero fans, like theyâd see it then go maybe this movie about a real person will be about fictional comic book characters, but that was his real childhood hero. He really wore that and even his friends teased but in the loving way friends do. However, he was terribly bullied by his peers in high school because he was so different as you noticed. The director talked to all of the people who knew him, who were or are still living, and he wrote the movie based on those stories so it will be as true a story about Elvis as possible and he didnât fictionalize the movie but if you know the real life of Elvis then you know his life was full of triumphs and tragedies that Shakespeare himself couldnât make up.
The Myth of Elvis is made up from the Truth... The Reality of the Man is his own to endure...

This is true that we do not know that he wore the lightening bolt though it could have indeed been possible, as the paper would not have cost much to make it.

Elvis' family was so poor, that comic books were the few things he enjoyed.
In 1970 when the Jaycees presented him with the 10 Outstanding Young Men of the Nation Award he said this....
