Nomura truly cared for Final Fantasy Versus XIII. He's stated in past interviews that his Noctis character design was one of his favorites, tied alongside Sora. In a perfect world, he would have just been allowed to see that project to its conclusion.

Something I would like to point out to everyone. The first time we heard those words "I've been having these weird thoughts lately, like is any of this for real or not?" It was the start of something far bigger than we all expected, and it was also what helped green light the Kingdom Hearts series in the first place. It will take some time obviously, but I strongly believe using that quote, tied with "Oath to Return" is Nomura directly telling his audience that Verum Rex a.k.a. Versus 13 is not only coming back but its going to be the next big thing.
This next part is a big stretch and just a personal theory but hear me out. How does Noctis (Yozora) connect with Sora? Well Nomura said himself he see's them as brothers, and opposites. (Also art for both Sora and Noctis show them on a throne, which could symbolize that they are both heir to the throne) Sleeping was a HUGE part of the original Versus concepts and a lot of evidence in Kingdom Hearts lately is pointing to all of it being a dream. Even in the beginning we see Sora falling into the depths to wake up on Destiny Islands and starting a magical journey. We NEVER see his family not even once.
Now I want to go back to what Yozora says. He wants to save Sora and acknowledges they are not in the real world. And knows Sora's name but doesn't recognize him as the Sora he knows. And plays it off that he's just heard of him. Now do we all remember what happened to Noctis in the original concepts for versus and the FF15 anime? He was attacked and his mother was killed by a monster. He was hospitalized and would travel to his "Dream World" that we still saw in the Platinum Demo for 15. Now could it be possible, that Sora (his theoretical little brother) was also involved in this event and has been put into a coma of sorts. He's trapped in this dream world that we know as Kingdom Hearts "Like is any of this for real? Or not?" And Noctis (Yozora) all this time has still been exploring this dream world in his sleep and fate brought him back to his little brother Sora, in order to save him and bring him back to the real world. (Now that doesn't mean the dream world and Kingdom Hearts are not real at all, but more so just another universe/realm just like how there's an astral realm in Final Fantasy)
Now on the topic of Yozora being a nobody, I still believe that this is the case. After all Heartless and Nobodies show up in Disney worlds where they have no right being there. So why not a Final Fantasy world also? It could've been a heartless that "killed" Noctis's mother and turned him into a nobody attempting to take his heart. However we already know Sora is a little heart klepto and has no problem holding onto more than one. So maybe seeing Yozora and Sora in the station of awakening, very much like how we saw Sora and Roxas there, is to symbolize that their hearts are indeed connected, or Sora has Yozora (Noctis's) heart. It could even explain why Sora has a rage form, because there was darkness in Noctis's heart as he was eventually going to become an antagonist. When you really think about it, Sora is one of the sweetest protagonists ever. He doesn't have a dark bone in his body, yet Rage is still there and comes out especially when Sora (Noctis's theoretical little brother) is in danger. And yes I'm well aware that it was stated Anti-form was caused by Sora turning into a heartless at one point. But practically nothing has been said about Rage form at all, giving Nomura the creative freedom to make that connection if he wants since he hasn't given a canon answer to Rage Form as it appears to be it's own thing (Sora couldn't use a keyblade in anti form, but Rage form can). And we even see Yozora take Sora's keyblade in their fight, showing he can indeed use it even though he is a nobody. Who else did that? Roxas who was tied to Sora's heart.
Now can you imagine how epic/heartbreaking/beautiful it would be if in this new "Verum Rex" game, ends with an intense battle between two brothers, Sora and Noctis, Light and Dark, for the fate of the world? Now a theory like this, I would imagine Disney would want no part of it. So I wouldn't count on that, however we all have been following Sora and Noctis for years. And I'm sure Nomura has quite a few Luxord cards up his sleeve for this. After all he's been plotting this for years.
Now Given the fact that obviously so many ideas have changed over the years and Nomura being impossible to predict. I can't say for sure if this new take on versus will still be the bloody gothic story we have wanted. But I'm confident that Nomura already knows how to play this just right in order to work for Kingdom Hearts or else he wouldn't have left this bread crumb trail for us. And if Noctis and Versus are back in the spotlight with the Kingdom Hearts community hyped and supporting it. How the hell could Square Enix say no this time?

The phrase “is any of this real or not?” from Yozora is straight out of Versus XIII. In that game one of the main plot points that Nomura said was very important was the idea of Noctis seeing Stella and Regis in dreams and speaking with them. Noctis questions what’s real and what’s a dream. This was all cut from XV though.
The line is a callback to the opening of KH 1

It’s simple... Yozora is a Nobody with special skills much like Namine. He can enter the world of the dead (or close to it), and save Sora. He was trained by the Master of Masters to defeat Sora as mentioned in the cutscene needing to defeat Sora. When he does he claims he will save Sora.
Now I do think him being the Nobody of Noctis is true, and that Verum Rex is possibly some alternate reality connected by a small thread to Sora’s reality. I believe Riku is seeing into Sora’s dreams the moment Sora arrives in this alternate location. It’s possible Sora is a video game character in Yozora’s world as well.
I’d be super excited to see Final Fantasy worlds in Kingdom Hearts. It would make sense.

Here's a thought. The girl mentions that Yozora has had his heart replaced by another, and yet the Yozora we see says that this isn't what he really looks like. Now, it is known fact that when a heart takes another body (like with Terranort), not only do their eyes change color, but the hair too, as well as the voice being different. Mayhaps it's something where Yozora's and Noctis' hearts got switched?

Unrelated, I know, but I love how the vibrant colors of the Verum Rex effects contrast the dark night life of what appears to be Shibuya. Dare I say it's aesthetically pleasing.
It would make sense because they look alike. Plus this would allow Sora to finally take a step into a Final Fantasy World.

That's pretty intresting. Honestly, I kinda want FFXV's version of Noctis to still appear as Yozora's somebody, his entire mood coupled with his friends would fit the mood and they would go gloriously along with Sora and the gang.
If Yozora is XV Noct's Nobody, then that would mean that the lores of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy XV are connected with Verum Rex (Vs XIII) being the inter-dimensional bridge. And I wouldn't be surprised if Noctis became Yozora after his death (with some "help" by those damned Astrals or the daemons), which would make all of this one giant acid-tripping clusterfuck.
I love these teases and possible connections to the FFVSXIII universe.
In an ideal way, we would have a Verum Rex come out, possibly a Final Fantasy Versus XIII Remake?
SQEX would never allow a FFVS13 remake because it would be them indirectly admitting that they really messed up, instead what they could do is make another mainline Final Fantasy. I guess Verum Rex is Final Fantasy 16. There was a rumor that they will announce FF16 together with the announcement of PS5. Maybe SQEX will surprise us with this announcement?
4:26 Studios I don’t think so. Verum Rex is too similar to FF15 to just be called 16. It’s most likely a nobody world of versus 13.
It’s known ff16 is most likely going to be an old school style FF game developed by Yoshi-P of ff14.
@@CodyCoonrod So its either a new game that will tie up to KH series, or a spin-off KH game right before the new mainline KH game. But then again, Nomura dropped too many hints that Yozura is in a Final Fantasy world so if it isn't a mainline Final Fantasy game then its most likely a spin-off Final Fantasy game. Of course there will be similarities to FFVS13 since he even used an early trailer footage of it albeit tweaked, but definitely he won't be using the same character names to FFVS13 because SQEX won't allow it
Though I just can't help but think this will be FF16 because it's as if he already figured how the story goes. I think its already a hint when Yozura said that his powers are not yet needed when he was defeated by Sora, as if Nomura was telling us that "Hey, I've already got the story covered". Then right before KH3 Remind released, the wild rumor appeared that FF16 will be revealed together with the PS5 reveal. While FF7R is up around the corner, I think they still can manage revealing the new FF game since FF7 is too popular that people won't get distracted even if they will reveal another Final Fantasy game
@@426Studios I'm not so sure. FFXV uses timelines and alternate universes as a plot point, so it's possible for a spin off game. Bringing up KH3, Yoko Shimoumora produced Somnus, which belongs to FFXV and whoever else was in charge of copyright. Since it's her own work, she can still re-use Somnus. The secret ending only used a few notes from Somnus.
Maybe the Nobody symbol is like a symbol of the kingdom of "New Lucis?" Like, how original Lucis was supposed to be something like a kingdom of death, maybe New Lucis is like a kingdom of Nobodies? It also kinda helps explain Luxord's cards since we know he exists in Verum Rex.
And also as a side note, I think it'd be cool if you made a video compiling everything we know about VSXIII since

It's interesting theory. But the girl that Yozora tries to rescue is even more curious. She looks more like Lightning than Stella from VS XIII. And, as planned from beginning, both FFXIII and FF VS XIII were one part of Fabula Nova Crystallis Universe, along with the Type-0. So, maybe we can expect some tight connection between worlds of FFXIII and FF VS XIII (or both VS XIII and rewritten XV) in KH4 or in some other project that Square develops.
And one more curious moment that Yozora has different colored eye pupils like Yuna.

My theory is; that Yozora was hired by an individual to find Sora. We are led to believe that its finding Sora after his "death" in KH3 but what if it was wordplay again because (Nomura)....
And instead it's someone who hired Yozora because he is fit for the job since hes ....a commander. And the reason why he was hired was because sora was simply missing, not dead to that person's knowledge...
And this person ends up being the one character in all Kingdom Hearts History that can bring the series into an entire loop.
That person is Soras Mother....
She technically exist, sora left without saying a word to save the raft. What if she hired Yozora to 'save sora'.
The reason why Yozora asked him "you're sora?" Is because she described him as a young boy which is the last time she saw him... and has no idea of the keyblade and anything like that. Or how he has matured and gotten older...

@@Emi______ Versus is Alive Pt.4 was a thing but with the cancellation of Dawn of the Future the video would not have made sense so I decided to cancel it. However I wanted to make a Versus XIII Documentary based on 2006s concepts and with what we now know in terms of Verum Rex.

Bonus points if Magia and Aegis were merged versions of Ardyn/Prompto and Gladio/Ignis. Bonus, bonus points if FFXV Noctis was his heartless. Would be such a brutal commentary from Nomura. Who know’s? Only time will tell and Ray Chase is involved in both 😎
a Nobody only gets the Recussant Sigil if they're recruited by the Organization 13, the same is for their name being an anagram of the Somebody's name, Naminé wasn't so she doesn't have any of this, instead, her name is *derived* from Kairi's, so the same could be for Yozora, assuming of course, the series would directly address VS13, which COULD happen I guess, but oh boy...

(Just a note, I wrote this about 3 minutes in, so a lot of the concepts were addressed or alluded to in the actual video afterwards. But I did touch on a lot of stuff that I find kind of fascinating, so I wanted to post it all as-is.

I feel like Yozora "just" being a nobody is kind of... a cop-out somehow. It's hard to word exactly, but that pin is clearly meaning something. I actually do think he might be Noctis' nobody, but only a conceptual level. He's what was left behind when Versus Noctis became XV Noctis, and in that way he's a conceptual Nobody though not a literal one. I would imagine that is the pin's meaning, but it did give me an utterly insane idea.
We know world's have hearts, and we know they can fall to darkness. So... can an entire world have a Nobody? Like, could Verum Rex be the Nobody of a Final Fantasy world or something? I don't think it's the case either, but man that would be cool.
Though I'm still not sure how Luxord ties into all of this, given him sharing a voice and lines with the driver. Hmm, assuming this is going to be part of KH going on, and not it's own thing, I can't really see them having Insomnia (or whatever it's called now) worship a Goddess of Death. But Nobody's represent non-existence and nothingness. That's not such a bad stand-in for death. So perhaps Nobody iconography is a thing, heck, if we are going literal maybe high ranking soldiers and what-not actually willingly become Nobodies as a power boost. Normally heartless aren't sapient so the whole Sora/Roxas thing is a very unusual circumstance, and we know that Nobodies will eventually reform their hearts on their own. And if this has gone on long enough than they probably have therapy and conditioning to get them back to normal at record speed. So basically it has no downsides and I could totally see a military using "Nobodification" to make super soldiers.
You don't need to be a Key blade wielder to have a Nobody that looks humanoid, the person just needed to be stronger then most when they "fell into darkness" for that to happen. Noctis would fit that description and if he's like Sora his Nobody could have survived on it's own(past his death in his own game) or having another's heart inhabit what is now Yazora.
thinking back on Ardyn's dlc, would Ardyn's nobody be MoM and that Ardyn spent most of his time sleeping during captivity and him waking up would correlate to MoM disappearing?
I have two hopes either they let Nomura run wild with his ideas in a verum rex game or they let him finnesse nd fuse it into the next kingdom hearts idc how long it takes hopeful Disney doesn't fck us

I agree. I always looked up at this channel first to find much better information on Versus. I'm a FFXIII series and Fabula Nova Crystalis lore fan that it's hard to find one who does actually do research with added info too.
Giving a Final Fantasy character a Nobody would be monumental for the KH series. Maybe this was part of Nomura's original idea for Versus, to tie into Kingdom Hearts? People forget he had an entire trilogy in mind when he was still on XV!

Yozora has the cross bones sign, a symbol that was also shown in Final fantasy versus 13 due to the themes of cult like reaper worshiping. Yozora's Shibuya also looks like the shibuya seen in The world ends with you, in which neku sakuraba had to play a twisted and dark reaper's game. Coincidence?, i think not.

Hear me out on this. What if this has been the plan for a while, maybe since he left XV as the director. Nomura may have found a way to tell the story he wanted with Versus XIII inside of the KH universe and so him AND his team broke away from XV to focus on how to weave Versus into KH. Maybe he's not bitter in any way, but planned for this outcome anyway.

I have a wild theory that Noctis is actually in KH and that he's really the MoM in disguise. He seems to be able to travel to Yozora's world like we saw in the secret movie. Also he mentions being a "Lost Master" In remind. His character model was recently discovered and the face shape looks eerily similar to Noctis. Which only makes him more sus to me. Plus having Ray Chase's voice doesn't help hide it either. I'm prob reaching tho lol.
It even makes more sense if you think about the original Insomnia battle that was planned in Versus 13, where Odin, Insomnia’s champion, was supposed to fight Bahamut, Nilfgaard champion, above the city. So a Bahamut boss fight was probably planned.
Square Enix will be back on track, when they actually finish final fantasy XV. Im still depressed, a bit sour and hurting from not have any clousure from final fantasy XV. I mean they could've at least finish the rest of the remainig episodes season 2. And released episode dusce, demo platuinm and the chocobo moogle festival as acessable dlc. I love ffxv, i supported it even if it wasnt ff versus xiii. I want to cry.

4:43 Nomura wasn't the director anymore, but in the trailer video with all trailers of Final Fantasy 15 from 2006 to 2016, every trailer names him always as the main charakter designer.

Maybe Yozora as a nobody doesn't need a "X" in his name, because he already has a "Y"..... I don't know, if this leads to somewhere, but Demyx (as the only other person) also has a "Y" in his name..... so possibly he also has something to do with the Final Fantasy world.....

I'm honestly just hoping KH is using these new cool edgy-looking characters and settings to start to move the franchise more in the Final Fantasy direction rather than the Disney direction. The franchise needs to grow up and evolve with its fans if it wants to continue to be as relevant as it has been in the past imo.
Noctis disappeared in FFXV for a long time before reuniting Ignis and the others. During his time missing, he met someone from another world and found out Luna was still alive but this woman’s name is Stella who is the nobody of Luna. He met a person who ended changing his recognition and his name. He then later met two guy name Aegis and Magia who agree to help Noctis. There problem solve ahahahah!
Lol, no. FFXV is not under Nomura, most FF characters that appeared in KH is somewhat linked to Nomura as the creator. Noctis here is from Versus, Luna doesn't exist in Versus.
I hope this will be the way Nomura brings Noctis into KH. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way for Nomura to just make another one with a KH paint job and different name while he could just bring Noctis in. I mean he has access to all FF characters but Nomura has been so hesitant and unwilling to bring them in like why.
The Verum Rex concept and world itself being nobodies are kinda poetic, since in kh 2 the organization xiii members Said something about nobodies not existing but still being there, ir you think about it, the same can be Said about ff versus xiii, it doesn't exist, but its still there.
Nomura is doing what Kojima did in P.T. but way more forward and direct about it, while Kojima was being sneaky with hidden references about his treatment at Konami. Check TheGrateDebates video on the matter.
God I wish we got the original version of Versus XIII
The creators of FF and Kingdom hearts could start to intertwine stories to make an even bigger universe. Basically since characters are already involved it would make it easier. For example how the kingdom hearts series could have began from the end cutscene of final fantasy 7 remake. When sephiroth explains to cloud that "our world will become part of it one day" where sephiroth could be the original heartless when he states " But I will not end". The concept of time and alternate worlds could have changed thanks to that fight and moment. This could explain cid either being younger or even another cid from another world entirely. Then when coming to final fantasy xv the death of Luna and Noctis could be how they turned to heartless and their nobodies appear in the remind cutscenes when he's trying to save her. I mean Yozora's weapons also look like the royal arms bow of the clever and sword of the father / king regis sword. All in all the world of vex looks like city nobody of insomnia. If people want to know back stories and how they got there then, new Final Fantasy games could be a lead up into what will be the Kingdom Hearts. At the end of the final Kingdom Hearts after Sora with the help of the main characters Cloud and Noctis or Yozora in this case fight off Bahamut and Sephiroth to end the sequel. They all fade off back into their worlds forever closing that story line. I believe including Bahamut's story properly along with sephiroth and being he can only die from the keyblade would be a great inclusion. But that's how I see intertwining the stories to a point.

I am purely saying this out of my own experience as a published writer but it actually is likely. I have done things where I incorporated the lore and characters of my old cancelled projects into my new works. I do it all the time as I have more cancelled things than published. With all the little details, which my game designer friend confirmed is extreme for just a nod, I believe that Verses XIII or what it was meant to be will play a large role in the new games.
Well given that in the game summary of Verum Rex it says that Yozora no longer has his heart then saying that he is a Nobody a very likely thought jump. Though I am not sure that his somebody will be Noctis. I am pretty sure that Nomura is going to be avoiding FFXV so Yozora's Somebody is likely going to not be Noctis who was greatly changed in character form how Nomura first dreamed him. Really I can see two ways that this could go. First the somebody could be a bran new character or the somebody could be someone we already know form Kingdom Hearts but don't know the face of. We have somewhere between six and ten of those maybe more that I am not thinking of. Still I am leaning towards the Somebody just being someone new. Someone that may as you are saying fill the role of what Nactis couldn't be from a story is maker couldn't being to life.
However as a writer myself I tend to believe Nomura when he says that Yozora and the things that come with him are very different then his Versus XII story. When a story doesn't work you have to change it. Characters backstories, whole worlds, and the plot line all have to be thrown away but the ideas themselves stay in the back of the mind. Yes Yozora seems to be a character that has been rewritten form old ideas but he most likely is made up of mostly new ones. He is his own character not a ghost of someone that died before he could be born in the first place.
Nobody of an entire city, characters, and story. That is an ambitious way to not only make this scrapped project going and within a KH title, but also because this is a great idea to keep the KH hype going for the next game.

Hey I just replayed FFXV for nostalgia, and would like to point out that towards the end of chapter 13 there is a VERY kingdom hearts-like scene where Noctis is in the HEART of a crystal and floating with his eyes closed the way Sora floats with his eyes closed when he is in the representation of a heart........

There's also the fact that the man in Yozora's car seems similar enough to Luxord that many people think it's him. He's one of the few Nobody Organization members (maybe the only one besides Demyx?) we don't know the origin of, and ReMind seemed to give him a little more intentional mystery and spotlight. How did he become a Nobody? Maybe the same way Yozora did
The X in the nobodies name are given by Xemnas, If Xemnas has nothing to do with Yozora, then he could just be Yozora. as somebody and nobody. We could probably assume that the reason Yozora has two different colored eyes is probably because if he is a nobody, he was created in a different way, possibly with a 2nd heart like how Roxas took Ven's appearance, that's why he wouldn't have his original form or why he doesnt normally look like this.
I don't think the game will be too meta, and say he's V13 noctis, but a new version of V13 noctis for KH. Also interesting, Yozora's driver is also a nobody, aka Luxord.
Maybe Yozora's heart was stolen, and the person who stole his heart, has his true appearance. This would be a direct opposite thing than what Xehanort does. So I wonder what taking someone's heart would do.
Yeah idk why everyone is thinking it's literally noctis, Kingdom Hearts has always had different backstories and traits for final fantasy characters.

Since Riku was a dreameater in KH:DDD and it was always hinted at by the big X on his clothes I wouldn’t be surprised if Yozora turns out to be Noctis‘s nobody because of his earrings. 😅
The silver-ish hair and brown eyebrows point to the character being some kind of mish-mesh clone of different people. Imo, the next section of the game will be about simulations within simulations, and what the person making all the clone tech is trying to achieve.
So since the driver is Luxord, I think it begs the question of how, when did they become nobodies? Did they know of Nobodies and Heartless before? How did Luxord get into another worldline exactly, and did his becoming a Nobody happen before or after?
If they need Soras powers, and if they're Nobodies, then maybe their hearts are captured by a form of darkness in their world? If not Heartless, then what? Do they need Sora to free their hearts? And I wonder what exactly Yozoras "power" that isn't needed yet is?
I also wonder how Yozora knows Soras name. Did he have a friend or enemy named Sora in his world? Or is Sora from a video game in Yozoras world, as referenced by FF15 and Young Xehanort in Toy Box?
Imagine the Noctis we got in FFXV turns out to be a Heartless like how Ansem is, and Yozora is his Nobody.

Yozora is Brain, Brains body was stolen by Luxu who changed to Braig as he aged and to trick Xehanort, Yozoras body is Luxus digitized original a la Wreck It Ralph world. Ava is Stella or she was and dies in Ux, hence why she's missing.

Hmmm that could be a possibility, but I thought about it when my girlfriend shared this video to me with us being Kingdom Hearts fans.
But I'm willing to believe that Yozora could be Riku's nobody given they look alike and their outfits are almost similar and like you said they also look like Noctis so he can also be Noctis' nobody, and well yes Riku didn't become a heartless but he did technically fell to darkness you could even say his dark form could be a sign he's a heartless considering it has a heartless design but that's not enough evidence.

A few things:
1) I'm wondering if the intention of using Yozora and his world is actually meant to relate to the scrapped Versus XIII world/characters, or if it's meant to be a stand-in/substitute for what it is mean to represent (like "Cyborg Ninja" characters harkening to Gray Fox from MGS). I'm leaning toward the former because of Sora going into crystal stasis in the bad ending, much like l'Cie who complete their focus.
2) If that's the case, I am hopeful that this would also bring along the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology, and subsequently the other titles in the series. We never really got any sort of meaningful connection between the XIII titles, not that it was ever promised, but it would still be cool to see.
3) As I was typing the above, it occurred to me that Verum Rex's world is closer to Shibuya than it is Insomnia from FFXV. Considering this AU Shibuya stand-in, is that Kingdom Heart's link to a stand in of Japan? Possibly the biggest stretch: would this open the way to connect with that Type-0 secret movie that never really seemed to go anywhere?
Idk what's actually theory and wishful thinking anymore, so all this probably doesn't actually mean anything.
