The game begins with Claire Redfield raiding an Umbrella Corporation facility in Paris in search of her brother, Chris. During the infiltration she is captured and imprisoned on Rockfort Island on the Southern Hemisphere. Soon after arriving she is knocked unconscious. After coming to, she is freed by Umbrella security guard Rodrigo Juan Raval who releases her from her cell in the aftermath of a T-virus outbreak on the island. Trying to escape from the contaminated island, Claire teams up with inmate Steve Burnside, at the same time being confronted with the island's commander Alfred Ashford. Alfred Ashford is shown to be a highly unstable character who has developed two personalities; himself and his twin sister Alexia. Meanwhile, Albert Wesker is on a mission of his own to retrieve a sample of the T-Veronica virus developed by Alexia. His unit is also responsible for the outbreak of the T-virus on Rockfort Island.

The music that plays during Alexia’s reformation scene is just beautiful and epic. This game literally has the best soundtrack. I hope they retain this aspect of the game if they do remake it.
They probably will remake it but make the original soundtrack optional with a deluxe version, like the last three remakes. 😅

2:11 Chris is pretty jacked already in that cutscene, body mass wise.
He had muscles even before RE5
Chris was muscular even in RE1. Look at his character model in Deadly Silence which has sharper character models. You can see his physique clearer.
Another brilliant idea. A funny skin where Chris is a huge muscular body builder. Like the size of Mr. X but 20 times bigger. That would be hilarious.
The motion capture for the cutscenes in this game are pretty damn good considering it came out 20 years ago

Chris's design, voice and development in Code Veronica is the best, (Claire also did it better), but talking 'bout Chris, here's where Chris Redfield remains as an excelent character. Here's where we can see him being the best bro towards Claire and yeah, here's where Capcom gave Chris the chance they didn't do in RE1 and REmake. 10 out of 10, Capcom, hope you can give us quality just as you used to do sometime ago

Besides, I didn't mention RE4 or RE2R. When it comes to tell a story, RE2R is the most inconsistent and RE4 story is stupid. If you only count the gameplay, there're other games that did it better than those you mentioned before.

Please, no. Those fights with him in RE5 are so unbelievably stupid. Fist fighting someone who dodges bullets and throws heavy aircraft missiles like paper airplanes, it's just absurd. I absolutely hate that they even gave the player the option of fighting him like that. If they're going to do that, he should fight the same way he does in the cutscenes, not some lame nerfed version of him so the player can feel cool beating him up.

Remember how claire started the game, trying to find Chris. so WHY at 11:35 when she found chris after 3 long months and 2 Biohazards, does she look like she's about to EXPLODE into tears?

@@TheBengalDragon basically I believe she didn't want him to leave because she did go through a lot to see him and when he did come she was unconscious. She was also happy to see him earlier. But they both had to survive to truly rejoice. She didn't like the answer he gave in the ending because she didn't want him to leave again.

I thought the wesker ending was changed in newer versions of veronica x instead you just get the cutscene of christ and claire flying away in the harrier
That FURTHER proves my point. The purpose of this game was mostly CLAIRE. Chris and Wesker, their story is supplementary, and even in that, they enhanced Claire's story.
@Nick Forest You're referring to the original Dreamcast version. This is the scene that was added in CVX.

@@paulbell3682 I know, and even in this added scene, the game enhances CLAIRE'S character story. So this scene not being in the Dreamcast version does not change much. The purpose of the game is still Claire's character story... and ... this game started to give Claire so much more depth than EVERY OTHER RE character, that I now say she is too good for RE. She should be in BATMAN!

I came here because I cannot defeat Alexia with my 4 gun bullets, 6 buckshots and my knife. It's just too hard for me...
Too bad, I enjoyed the whole game a lot, and really liked it overall. I'm just a bit frustrated that I couldn't eventually beat it.

Tip. At the beginning use the Knife on the Zombies and dogs a lot to save bullets. The Knife is damn good in Code Veronica
the best tip i can give you is to use the normal bowgun bolts and the dual pistols against zombies
only use the knife against downed zombies and dogs
use the bow rounds and two acid rounds against the tyrant on the plane; that's the safest and quickest way to defeat it, period
You can run away without fighting from bosses like the giant spider and electric fish man. Dogs and bandersnatches are easy to avoid once you know their routine.
If Claire has any grenade launcher ammo put it and the launcher in the box before you check up on Steve. You never play as her again so Chris can use it. Use the shells on Alexia get close and aim up at her torso

I don't think I'll ever finish the game though : I deleted my former saves to save some space in my memory card. I canno't restart from a point where I would be able to save enough ammunitions (for instance, I stupidly missed the handgun, which is a huge loss, and Chris has the grenade launcher...)
As I said 9 month ago : that's not a problem ! I still have a ton of other games and survival horrors to do, and I'm happy with the experience I had with code Veronica :)

This is the extended version of the game
I'm facing this boss with 9 shotgun rounds and about 35 handgun rounds. Have 2 healing items at hand. MEANWHILE CLAIRE HAS THE BOWGUN, ASSAULT RIFLE AND GRENADE LAUNCHER. She could have given it to Chris but no, I have to replay the last quarter of the game just so she can place her shit in that stupid item box.
Yeah game is a bit broken. I just used the glitch on the green herb

If Re4 remake can make a Golden knight boss, we definitely deserve a "Devil May Cry 1 Nightmare boss" version of the Bandersnatch. Dude. Even if Capcom is lazy and copies the remake Bandersnatch final boss exactly like the "Devil May Cry 1 Nightmare boss" I would still be perfectly happy and satisfied. In fact, I welcome it. The Nightmare boss is one of the hardest boss in the game. Gotta wait for his orb to reveal? Really?
Only useful weapons are the Uzi, Magnum, or explosive arrows.

To bad darkside chronichles never remade this scene in the code veronica parts.
dArkside Chronicles told the story that the fans thought Code Veronica told. That is, Darkside Chronicles made Code Veronica EVEN more irrelevant to the main story arc of resident evil, as the Ashfords or the Veronica Virus never saw PROMINANT mention in anothe canonical resident evil game.
BUT, that was not the intended story of Code Veronica. The intended story of Code Veronica was MAINLY to develop Claire's character. And... Code Veronica did something so unique, that I am still shocked that NO ONE ELSE caught it. Didn't see any youtube videos highlighting what Code Veronica did, that I didn't see in any other game done with a female protagonist.
Since EVEN AFTER Revelations 2, when fans didn't understand Claire's story arc (coupled with horrible execution by Capcom) I feel that Capcom rewrote her character in RE2 remake.

@@paulbell3682 Re Remake happened canonically before the events of Code Veronica, so it sort of doesn't count. After the events of CVX, I don't recall in a canonical game, any prominant mention of the Ashfords, maybe a word here and there, but nothing of significance.

Yet it released for the Sega Dreamcast as a launch title or exclusive if I remember and yet that console ended up dying off worhint 2 years. Shame because the Dreamcast was a cool console wish Sega would make a Dreamcast 2
It was an exclusive and was made due to not being able to port RE2 on Sega Saturn without affecting the game in a negative way. so they came up with a new game for the Dreamcast. Then they made CVX that would come out on PS2 and Gamecube (Imo they saw that the Dreamcast was a failure and had CV jump ship while it could)

@@paulbell3682 Well, you can dodge in RE3, something that is VERY nice to see from a ps1 game. Considering the superior technology, to have that feature removed in CV/CVX was a downgrade for me.

@@paulbell3682 Well, if they went through the trouble of adding additional cutscenes and dialogues for CVX, wonder why they didn't add the dodge feature and the climbing the stairs by running into it feature in CVX.
Anyways, I enjoyed the game on a completely different level though, on a psychological level, something that NO OTHER RE game has done BTW.

The final 15% of the game was POORLY executed, but it does something unique, that I never saw in another game done to a female protagonist. People ALWAYS get this WRONG. The main purpose of this game is CLAIRE. Chris and Wesker are supplementary elements to Claire's story.

How the hell was I supposed to know that Chris would be the one fighting the last boss? Claire kept the grenade launcher and fucked me up.
Capcom learned from this and implemented the partner weapon swap in RE 0 and forward. This game was a mess when it came to bosses.

This game suffers from a coherent item sharing mechanic between 2 playable characters and yes, RE0 fixed that horrendous mistake. Not saying it's better story wise, but gameplay wise it's pretty bad.

As a resident evil fan I have been playing these games since they was released and I can tell you that RE Code Veronica is by far the best of the franchise. It has the best plot, soundtrack and horror atmosphere. You simply doesnt has taste for videogames that is all. I know you'll keep telling me otherwise but that won't change the fact that Code Veronica is one of the best in the franchise whether you like it or not.
