    Its a very sad reality of our nation with which we have to live till don't know how much time..... Vandalism of national heritage is a tragedy happened to us not only because of ill-education, but due to the Zero Concerns & Culprit State Authorities..... May ALLAH Kareem bless us with the aqal-e-saleem and tameez, so we can become a civilized nation. Ameen Sum Ameen
    Thanx Salman Baba for highlighting the issue.

    Sir but why railways is not given preference w.r.t. Road transportation? It's much cheaper, comfortable and safe. Here in general coach it's around 50 to 75 paisa per kms ( Depending upon local , express , superfast trains ). Whereas by road it goes above one rs and in luxury busses its more than 2.5 rs.., I think logistic also much cheaper than road.
    I think I hv read in your blog only ..is NLC who had priortised road w.r.t. railways initiated this ?

    • @salmanrashid8880
      @salmanrashid8880 Před rokem +3

      NLC was created by dictator Zia in 1977 with the sole purpose of bleeding the railway while the army made a nice packet hauling goods by road. But even earlier, Ayub Khan had encouraged the road transport mafia which is today big business. One railways minsiter, chap called Bilore, owns hundreds of busses that ply between Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Karachi. He is famous for having said if Afghanistan could survive without a railway so could Pakistan. The road tpt mafia is very powerful. They are behind the shutting down of most of our lines.

    بابر نامہ میں بابر نے بھیرہ کا ذکر کافی دفعہ کیا ہے۔۔۔کیا اس وقت کا بھیرہ یہی علاقہ ہے؟؟

    • @salmanrashid8880
      @salmanrashid8880 Před rokem +1

      مقامی روائیت ہے کہ پرانہ شہر بھرہ دریائے جہلم کے مغربی کنارے پر تھا جب کہ موجودہ شہر اس پار ہے۔ ایک جگہ بھیرہ کے بارے میں بابر کے الفاظ کچھ اس طرح سے ہیں کہ اس بات کی تصدیق ہوتی ہے کہ واقعی بھیرہ جہلم کے مغرب پر تھا۔

    Another nostalgic episode with beautiful flowing narration which is your hallmark. Yes, it is indeed very unfortunate that we have destroyed everything inherited from the infrastructure the British gave us to the different archaeological sites which could not escape geography(unfortunately).
    I remember visiting Moen-jo-Daro in the 1977 and recently wherein it was simply "destroyed" with so-called repairs, plus the local vandals aka visitors.
    With regards to your observation about Sindh being more caring of its Railway Network, I have to dis-agree. I have seen the virtual dismantling of the Rail-siding from Keamari Zero Point getting shifted in the East Wharf to the Loop-line from Tando-Muhammad Khan-Hala-Moro-Nowhsera Feroz Branch which used to run parallel to the National Highway on which I saw Steam-Engines pulling Passenger & Freight Bogies, which are now replaced with Agricultural Land.
    And you should see the BBC Series, "Great Railway Journeys"...........amazing compilation.
    Looking forward to more, especially on "The Grave-yard of Empire Theory" & why you left the "Army".
