I enjoyed every bit of this story because I had 2 or may be 3 chances to visit this rest house. I was a student at Military College located at Sraialamgir so my first visit was a organized class trip in 1969 or 70. It was indeed a mesmerizing place with the banglow dominating the whole landscape. Second trip was after 1971 and the last was 1977 or 78.
Gen Yahya remained here under custody after 1971 war as told by Rest House staff.
Thank you for making me re-visit the place embeded in my memory.

British built real sturdy guest houses or Dak bunglows even in India one of which in our town was preserved and made functional as some government office.

Thanks for sharing your memories, atlest our generation can claim that here was once the most beautiful rest-house "which the invaders had destroyed"

Turns out that he kept getting kicked out, made a fine habit of it. Never could learn anything, so dull. His lineage hasn't learnt a thing either. Those who dont learn from history are codemned to repeat it.

    Greetings
My family has been living in kharian and gujrat since 13th century
And one of the most recounted stories in our family has been the one in which a huge water tank was built in the area to accommodate and replenish armies going to Afghanistan
I contacted you on email a few years ago with regards to a story of a great money scam that rocked the british government during the second world war as well
