Taksh shila aur Nalnada do sabse purani Universities hain, jahan par students ke liye padne, sone ke liye bhi jagahe bani hain, jiska jikr Chinese tourist Phahiyaan, Whensaang ne bhi apni kitaabl me kiya hai 😊

The biggest school in Taxilla university was Martial and administrative school for future kings of various kingdoms, followed by Medicine, religion, astronomy and arts. That is why Chandragupta Maurya was there when Alexander of Macedonia visited.

Sir I think Takshashila as rock cut does n't matches the Philosophy grown in that region.
University there was known for higher studies and was considered a step above Nalanda. There is mention that scholars like Panini have visited Magadha.
Even princes of ancient Royals like Kashi have been in Taxila for studies.
Taksha : Sanskrit meaning leads to sharpen or master.
Sheel : Means "Acharan " or behavioral skills, Gyan.
And the place has masters of economics , Grammer, etymology. So I think fits better.

If you say so. But I have heard that Takha or Taka (cut) and Shila (stone) was the origin of the name. On all other points I agree.

Once again, another beautiful qist wonderfully deciphered by you.
I find so many bites from your narration. Tasqala being one in this episode.
Salman Uncle, I am not able to find your books here.
    1. From Landikothal to Wagah
    2. The Salt Range and the Potohar plateau
I would love to read these two in particular.
Till then your lovely Safarnama stories will suffice.
Requesting again: Something on Multan. Mool-sthan as it was called in ancient times and any remains of the huge SunTemple there?

    • @salmanrashid8880
      @salmanrashid8880 Před rokem +1

Okay for Multan. Will do it though my friend Adnan Moiz (our producer) now lives in Germany for his degree. But I was introduced to his parents before he left and I'll see what I can do. Meanwhile, whenever someone travels to India, I'll see that I send copies across of both books. We can talk about the money later.

Its taksh shila, very easy to pronounce, don’t understand why Pakistanis find it difficult to read and pronounce it properly.

Sir, I also went by this route 2 years ago. I tried going past the phatak area, but must have got lost because I ended up only climbing the hill on the left. At the top there was nothing. Returning to the caves, a local told me not to go that way anyway. He was trying to scare me with stories of security personell being present because of some nuclear power plant in the area. But he did confirm that route lead to Taxila. Instead I climbed the hill that led to the starting point of the margalla ridge trail. Couldn't see a clear trail there and got lost. The local villagers were quite hostile and abusive. The local young ruffians provoking me and eyeing my backpack to steal it. Weird day all in all

Very strange. But more and more believable nowadays. I think all solitary walkers are under threat. All my life I walked alone and never felt threatened, but it's now getting bad.
