This is just a slight addition to how Artemis was regarded in Spartan society. While you highlighted that she was regarded as Spartan goddess of warfare, she held equal importance as the goddess of childbirth. In Spartan society, a woman who died in childbirth (creating a new Spartan) was given the same honours and respect and funeral rites as a Spartan man who died in battle.
I don't want to detract from your excellent summary here - I just thought it was an interesting point to make.

The only quality that makes her stand out from most of the gods is the fact that she wanted to remain pure and be independent from men. Unlike her other siblings like Aphrodite who started a war and her step-mother Hera who tried to make every women who Zeus slept with miserable with these horrible punishments and killing off the innocent children. Yes, Artemis is very protective over her purity to the point she would kill a man who sees her exposed, but she can be merciful. Like that myth about a little boy who saw Artemis bathe in a lake by mistake, she couldn't kill a child so she gave him the option to die as a boy or become an immortal girl who will join Artemis in her hunts.

What’s really amazing about this series is that one can see the commonalities across cultures’ deities. For instance, in the Yoruba pantheon, there’s a deity named Ochosi; he basically represents the same concept as Artemis. Hunter, deer are sacred to him, synonymous with magic, killed his mother by acting too hastily, etc.
These commonalities make me think of Joseph Campbell’s “Hero of a Thousand Faces” hypothesis - either something happened globally and we interpreted the phenomenon based on our culture/location or we’re all the same so we create the same stories. Thanks for the series m8!

I currently got approved to have a book I have written to be published in the UK. It's not typical facts instead it's a fantasy novel but I base the origins heavily on Greek mythology. Although my first book is already in publishing I'm pleased to note that alot of my pervious content stems very closely to origins you have explained already so thank the heavens for that... Oh? Have you really counted them? In the oldest surviving version of this story, the one who changed Kallisto into a bear was definitely Artemis. As for the much later accounts, there are other two in which Artemis did it, two in which Zeus was the one who changed the girl and two or three in which Hera was responsible for the transformation. So, there is an equal number of versions where Artemis and Hera changed Kallisto into a bear, with the added bonus that the account of Artemis is older by more than half a millennium and the account of Hera doing it appears mostly in Roman sources. Besides, even in the versions in which Kallisto is metamorphosed by either Hera or Zeus, Artemis is still almost always the one who kills her.
