Watched the video, and it’s full of inaccuracies to what the Greeks saw Apollo as. Apollo’s origins are very simple: he is believed to be a foreign god from either Crete or Anatolia, or he is of Greek origin but has had a lot of influences of various foreign deities. The Hittites had their God Aplu, who was the god of plagues. In Wilusa (Troy or Ilion) they worshipped a deity named Appalunias, and in the Iliad Apollo is the patron god of the city of Troy, and is not recognised as an Achaean deity. Apollo had a lot of functions in Greek society, but his primary roles were as a role model of the Greek way of living, representing the Oracle of Delphi, as a healer and protected deity, but also a patron deity for herdsmen and shepherds. He was worshipped as “Apollo Carneios” in Sparta, and that epithet was depicted with ram’s horns. There are a lot of myths regarding Apollo’s I’ll behaviour by modern (and old standards) but most of them are written by the Roman poet Ovid, who got banished by Augustus for writing ill about the gods.

as I said myths are not meant to be taken literally for example the myth of marsyas is not real it was written by people of Athens who disliked flute music (music instrument of marsyas) and preferred lyre music (Apollo's instrument) so the myth is indicative of likes and dislikes of Athenians other myths maybe like pan challenging him and midas getting donkey ears (the myth of pan was written for mere entertainment by ovid) pan basically replaced marsyas myth as to paint Apollo in a better light. So you see he ain't a jerk
