    A cheaper option (by Megahome, made in China): amzn.to/3yLlZQv.
    A higher-capacity option (by Durastill, made in the United States) : amzn.to/3FECiBw.
    This is the TDS meter I use: amzn.to/30TVzQI. While I am not an expert regarding TDS meters, this one seems to work fine and give results consistent with what one might expect.
    Clean water is fundamental to health and performance. As I deepen my marathon training, I have bought a top-quality, US-made water distiller. That is the Mini Classic CT, and after a few weeks with it here is my review. I have sought to be as thorough and balanced as possible, but please do not hesitate to ask questions in the comments, and I will do my best to answer them.

    I bought one of these distillers about 4 years ago....NO REGRETS. I make and use about 2 gallons a day for drinking, coffee, and cooking. I do lots of camping and hiking with a hiking group in Houston. We often travel throughout the state and to other states. I take all my water with me in stainless steel containers. One thing I have noticed is that tap water has an odor you can discern after drinking distilled water for a while. This odor is especially noticeable after being in a container for a few days, but distilled water i as pristine and has no odor even after several months storage in glass or stainless steel. Health benefits....This is just my opinion, call it my personal anecdotal evidence, that I drink more water that is distilled than water that is not distilled, due to the pure taste of distilled water. Even fresh tap water has a slight unsettling taste to it and due to that fact, I never could bring myself to drink enough of it. It does not benefit to have tap water, if you don't like drinking it. I do not have this problem with distilled water and due to the fact that it has no bad odor or taste, I drink it all day long. As far as the question about not having minerals in distilled water, one should not try to get their minerals out of water anyway. When you think about it, our hunter gatherer ancestors got most of their water out of lakes and streams, not from deep wells. Rivers and streams are natures "distiller" as that water has been evaporated and condensed just as these water distillers evaporate and condense water. Well, water has been sitting underground with whatever contaminants are present in the soli contaminating it. I get my minerals from the vegetables I eat, in which nature has already provided the minerals (in the plant) in the form that my body can more easily absorb anyway.

      You're welcome, @FishTalkFish. I am pleased I could help with your decision. Almost two years has passed now, but I still use mine every day, and I will likely buy a larger one when I get my own place. I hope yours proves fruitful for you too. Cheers (now from Colorado).

    Perhaps the most important question ... what health benefits and changes have you noticed by drinking distilled water?

    • @fergrunning
      @fergrunning  Před 2 lety +4

      Good question, Paul. I feel healthier now than at any point in my life. However, there is so much noise in personal anecdotes, with many factors at play. My recommendation is that people look into the rigorous research regarding the problems of contaminated water. Cheers.

    I have a 7000 ml original mason jar with the spout on it that is used for lemonade. I initially fill it to the top and as I use the water, I Top It off always keeping it filled. Where you overcome the problem of running out. I put a small silver quarter on the bottom as an antibacterial caution. You could also put Himalayan sea salt in it, but be careful not to put too much. just put a very slight sprinkle so it doesn't affect the taste of the water.. Clean water is the first step to good health and everything else comes after it,

    How's the taste? Still drinking distilled water? I think I'm going to order one of these.

      G'day Seeker. Thanks for your comment. Yes, I still use this machine every day. Regarding the taste, I have become accustomed to pure/clean water, which I love, so I mainly taste the opposite. That means whenever I am away from my home I can tell/taste the water is not at the same standard.

    I noticed that this is not available. Do you know of another that isn’t made in China?

      Hello Susan. Yes, that appears to be the case. A comparable US-made one is the Durastill Manual-Fill: amzn.to/3FECiBw. I will also add this one to the video description.

    I’ve had my mini classic CT water distiller for years but lately it has been leaking from the boiler tank. So I realize it’s time to change the O-ring in the boiler tank. I have watched their videos on how to change the O-ring, but it is not as easy as they make it out to be. Matter of fact, it is impossible to change that O-ring I feel it’s ridiculous. Look at where it is located and try and change it. they must have special equipment at the factory to put that O-ring in. i’d like to know if anyone else has put an O-ring in successfully and what’s the secret? right now my distiller is useless.

      G'day Marie. Thanks for writing. I have had mine for two years now, and that has not been a problem, so I am not sure how to answer your question.

    Has the coil on your machine rusted? The shiny part on the coil came off on mine.

    • @fergrunning
      @fergrunning  Před měsícem

      It has not. After a few years, the timer and element can wear out. If you are no longer under warranty, you can buy them directly.
