  • Sometimes the top of a Megahome water distiller can get junked up with dust, here's how to clean it and improve the function of your distiller.
    If your distiller top is looking a bit dusty try hoovering it out from the outside. If your distiller top is still dusty after hoovering follow these steps.
    Step 1: Take off the distiller head outer casting. To do that, turn the top over and remove filter housing.
    Step 2: Grab a Phillips screwdriver and remove three screws located by the seal.
    Step 3: Once the screws are undone, turn the distiller head over and the head will come off.
    Step 4: Now that you have full access to the distiller's head, hoover it.
    Step 5: If you can still see dust under the fan blade you need to remove the blade (ask for someone to help you). This will give you access to the whole area beneath the fan blades.
    Step 6: Hoover it again.
    Step 7: Take the cooling ring off by gently pushing it off the base with your thumb and hover the area. You can run the cooling ring under the water, but keep the rest of the electrical components in the distiller's head absolutely dry. Ensure the cooling ring is completely dry before you attach it back to the distiller's head.
    Step 8: Reassemble the head by putting the cooling ring back on first, then the fan blade and lastly the top.
    Step 9: Put the screws back in.

    Gotta love how solid the Megahome distillers are built. Excellent engineering and craftsmanship. Got two of them myself. They dont even require a f***ing APP and WiFi connectivity to run. 10/10

    Can't even express how much I appreciate this video, thank you so much! I also sometimes remove the rubber ring to clean underneath it as well, I hope that's ok, hasn't seemed to cause any trouble. I just examine closely first to make sure I get it back on the same way. I love my distiller!

    Mine started making a screeching noise when I switched it on, which initially subsided, but then screeched for longer and longer. I assumed the fan spindle might need lubricating so I removed the case, cleaned up the dust, incl. around the fan spindle and sprayed a little WD40 into the tiny gap around the fan spindle, both above and below, which worked like a dream.

    why not use compressed air? its what we use to clean out our PCs it does a much better job and its perfectly safe.
    the hover will only suck up the primary layer and you need to go deeper its the stuff thats stuck on there that reduces the efficiency not the lose fluff.
    exellent video by the way we need more stuff like this.

      Hi you can see the dust in your top? Ours looks clean I don’t see anything? I am pretty sure no one cleaned it yet? The inside is the hard part. I scrub it and use vinegar to soak n scrub and it really doesn’t take much off? We have well water. But the clean water is clear and we love it. Definitely would recommend anyone to buy this machine 👍💕

    • @gwenkilby
      @gwenkilby Před rokem +1

      @@bettymacallister3475 I put about 2-4 tablespoons of vinegar in the pot, then tilt and rotate it sideways to get it spread all over. Then let it sit about 15-20 minutes and come back with a scrubber sponge. There's a bit of discoloration, but otherwise that softens up the deposits and I get it pretty clean. I clean it about every 3-4 uses, though I know many people who wait much much longer than that to clean it haha.

    How to cleanthis
    But I would rather use an air compressor
    Or an 200ml? air duster spray
    I think the vacuum cleaner is a bit of a risk
    reason the cooling fins on the tube bend at the lightest impact
    and the result is faster with air
    but this is about how to clean it. further for everyone own choice my choice how I do it

    Unbelievable, that a company Megahome whose products are so expensive, does not respond to requests from people who want to purchase directly from it its most expensive water purifier. I'm just thinking about what happens to those who have already bought from Megahome a distiller, and they need the company's service: do they answer inquiries? I'm in Doubt.

    The instructions are written for someone familiar with the ins and outs of the unit - not for the first time user. More details are needed - just a little more consideration as to the purpose of these steps, for example. Also - conflicting instructions in the manual and cleaner label. But able to put everything together with this video as well.

    Thanks so much for these very helpful videos (I subscribed!). In 2016 we bought a “Tinton” Water Distiller on amazon. When I linked from our purchase on amazon, it doesn’t appear that company exists anymore, but the unit looks almost exactly like yours. The silicone doesn’t appear to need replacing. Are the replacements on amazon ok? We haven’t used it much in the past couple of years, but now I’ve bought a steam cleaner and will use distilled water in it. The filter holder looks a bit different on yours, but thanks to your video, I figured out how to remove it and behold, there was an OLDE carbon filter in there (YUK). I could probably use our new steam cleaner on the fins of the fan unit although our fan unit doesn’t look dirty/dusty at all (yet). We don’t use the water for drinking anyway as we have an RO system. Would it be worthwhile (less sediment?) to use RO water instead of our Kinetico softened tap water for distilling? RO TDS are much lower. We use sodium chloride in our Kinetico in lieu of potassium chloride. Thanks for helping! We’re in mountainous central WA state forestland on a well water system. I do have the capability of fetching water that hasn’t run through the Kinetico if that, too, would make a difference? Sorry for blasting with so many questions! Happy Thursday!

      To clean the coils hold under a running tap or over a bowl of soapy water and use a sponge or brush. Don’t immerse in the water. Then rinse and dry.

    • @MegahomeWaterDistillers
      @MegahomeWaterDistillers  Před 2 lety +5

      It’s not possible to clean inside the condensing tube. Only steam goes in there so it shouldn’t get contaminated. You can try to run a distillation with a couple of tablespoons of cleaning crystals in the water. Don’t drink the distilled water. You will be left with an oily residue which you can rinse out.

    • @Shloopy420
      @Shloopy420 Před rokem +2

      @@MegahomeWaterDistillers my condenser pipe needs cleaning too just after 5 uses. I can see it coated with hard-water build up. Thanks, I’ll try the cleaning crystals and then rinse out any residue remaining.
      As for mold: steam goes in there, but when the cycle is over, there’s lingering condensation in the tube. The air is not sterile, so that can and will lead to microbial build up. Cleaning of the metal condenser tube should be part of the manual
