great video, i was actually curious about this. fiji water used to be my favorite, but ive stopped drinking it since i installed my ro system
Glad it was helpful! Are you pleased you went with the RO for your family?
They had to install a RO system for drinking water out at the plant where I worked, we were on the very end of a 50 year old city water line.Even had holding tanks and booster pumps because by the time it got there it was only 20 PSI. The pumps boosted it up to 60 PSI😲😲
RO contamination has made many cruise ship customers very sick. Virus particles and other tiny organics pass right through the membrane. Switch to steam distillers with carbon pass thru to capture distillable zenes and you have a much purer product.
@@LarryButler-kp3se which kind do you use or do you have any recommendations? 🙏🏽
Icelandic is the best of these IMO. Especially cold.
That's up to you, at least now, after watching this video, you know more about that and the others.

Thank you for this video. I've heard distilled water (which has zero TDS) is not good for human consumption. What do you think is the minimum TDS for drinking water to be safe for people to drink on a day to day basis? In ppm please.
Great question! 20 ppm or there abouts would be the lower end for daily consumption.
Correct distilled water actually leeches minerals from your body. Now if you're gunna die if you don't get some water distilled is safer than a dirty puddle that'll give you the runs and vomit

What about San Pellegrino water? It is a very popular brand. I am surprised that you did not include it in your testing.
The bottled water I used is a representation. Judging by the comments there are numerous other waters I could have used which would have made for a very long video. If you watch the whole video you get a good understanding about how the types differ, what the info on the labels tell you and what alternatives exist.
I truly appreciated the information you provided in this video. But I am disappointed you didn't include aqua panna water. What are your thoughts on this one? Obviously, their option in the glass bottle would be the better choice.

Some of those brands I've never heard of. But, I live in a small town in Northeast Alabama and don't watch much TV. One of the more popular brands around here is Crystal Geyser Natural Alpine Spring Water by CG Roxane. I was a little surprised and disappointed that it wasnt on your list. I've drank it for years and find it the best for taste and it's the only water I use in my Keurig. Nevertheless, I feel very well informed about bottled water now. Thank you!
I'll check it out.
Pretty sure the exclusive use of CG destroyed a component in my Bialetti Moka Pot. When doing some research I'm led to believe this was due to high lime content, AKA high water hardness. I would be intrigued to see what CG is composed of, either way there seems to be a somewhat sketchy history of CG not backing up their treatment process and so on.

The last I heard, in recycling... you can't recycle box - type containers that have a wax or thin shiny plastic coating. So on the box type water (No names) can not be recycled. It's impossible to separate the wax or plastic from the paper box that's coated with it.
I thought the same thing. Boxed water says it is so, but I doubt it.
Can you please do a review on WAIAKEA water been drinking it a lot recently from what I’ve read it seems to be naturally alkaline and the water flows down from the Mauna Loa volcano where it then flows over porus lava rocks that filter it. Thank you for mentioning, which bottled water will clog Keurig. Good information to know if you don't want to descale your Keurig machine very often or for it to break, and be replaced overtime by using the water.
Great tip!
Which brand clogs Keurig?
@@jenniferbaptista2112 Basically brands with too much minerals like Fiji water. Simply don't use hard water in Keurig because it will clog the machine, and may eventually break it overtime to the point that even the best descaling methods won't fix it, and Keurig machine will need to be replaced. Less descaling and no need to replace Keurig machine often if you use the right water. Machine will last for years. I still have one of the OG Single serve Keurig machine working that has been discontinued. I had a second one that lasted for years before I eventually had to replace it with the updated single serve model.
I'm surprised that right after you talked about the dangers of sitting in a plastic bottle during long transport times as with fiji water, you made no point on the next water voss being packaged in glass, yet you still pointed out the long transport times. So, Is there any benefit to water being packaged in anything other than plastic, and what packaging would be best, if not simply the least harmful for bottled water?? Thank you!! And I love that ending: which bottled water do we drink? None of them! hahaha!
All things being equal, water packaged in glass or cans or boxed water are less likley to increase their microplastics level from absorbing their container as they would be in a plastic bottle.
@@GarytheWaterGuy thanks for the reply. However, all things ain't equal. I would point out that the box, being paper mostly, is lined and coated with something probably like plastic to help protect the box's form. Therefore I would imagine box water poses a similar threat. As for metal I have no clue what happens with that water trapped in metal, most likely aluminum, if that at all gets into the water after long travel times and exposure to heat. And we know aluminum is harmful if taken into our body. I see glass then as the safest alternative to packaged water. Thanks for helping me figure this out!
Can the water break down the plastic lining inside of the aluminum bottles? such as Proud Source and the new aluminum smartwater bottles. Would the best water to drink be waters like Sedona Spring water which comes in glass?
Water, breaks down everything eventually, even glass. But it will break down the plastic more quickly than glass.

Kirkland Ionized Alkaline purified Water is excellent. Don’t taste the bottles like many other cheaper bottles. It is a PET material and BPA free.
I have never heard of it but it sounds like if you beleive water with a very high pH is good for you it would be a good choice. I wouldn't buy it for my family thoiugh.
Kirkland water is 7.0 Alkaline
I'm surprised you did not review "Mountain Valley" spring water. I've heard it's the best spring water available and is only sold in glass bottles. That's currently all I drink but its very expensive (about $33 for a 5 gallon glass bottle) I go through about 15 of them a month, so it gets pretty expensive.
I've considered a home RO filter, however, my wife feels there is no way to get the good minerals back into the water, like you would find in Mountain Valley spring water or some other good underground spring and without those minerals the RO water will effectively leach out the existing minerals in your body like distilled water supposedly does. Curious what your thoughts are on this.
Also, you mentioned several times that high sodium in the water is bad, however, you also mention adding electrolytes to your water is ok (which is high in sodium). I've even heard some people take straight Celtic Sea Salt or Himalayan Sea Salt for their electrolytes. But again you are saying water that contains sodium is bad, can you clarify this?
I've never heard of Mountain Valley water, who has said that it's the best? I would necourage you and your wife to watch this CZcams video about Myths and Misconceptions especially regarding the mineral content. czcams.com/users/liveWJ6bRqiFIFM First of all Reverse Osmosis does not remove all of the minerals, only 90%. You can always add a remineralization filter to add back some calcium, if that is what you prefer. There is no leaching of minerals from your body, again, that is a myth. High sodium is bad and I prefer to get my electrolytes from the foods I eat, which is where 95% of all minerals we need come from anyway. IF you want to add electrolytes you can , but I don't do it for my family and don't recommend it for yours.
@@GarytheWaterGuy Hi, so you’re the water guy and never heard of the most popular water right now? The mountain valley it’s according to many people that actually care about their body the best water out there. If you can review it it would be really helpful.
I also want to get a filter to save money, but I believe mountain valley it’s the best one out there. Have you heard about kangen water filter? It’s very expensive but it seems it’s the best water filter out there, basically electrifies the water.
@@luciano8822 No, I have not heard of Mountain Valley bottled water, it is not available at any grocery store or convenience store that I checked and no one there has heard of it. You say it's the "most popular water right now", what makes you say that? Who are these people and where are they getting their information from that they beleive it is the best because "they actually care about their body"? I have found it on Amazon but at $171 for 12 x 1 liter bottles it is definitely one of the most expensive out there www.amazon.ca/Mountain-Valley-Liter-Spring-bottle/dp/B09TBJFQX8/ref=sr_1_5?crid=35ZGZLA4JXNHP&keywords=mountain+valley+spring+water&qid=1695654479&sprefix=mountain+valley%2Caps%2C147&sr=8-5 I did check their water specifications and ingredient label on their website but those tell me that the water is very close to most cities tap water, minus the disinfection chemicals of course. I don't see why this spring water is any different from a few of the ones presented in the video, like Fiji water for example. The point of my video was to caution the viewer to not fall victim to the marketing hype and believing that just becasue one brand says it is the best, that may not be the best choice for your family. I still feel you are far better off with your own home Reverse Osmsois drinking water system like this one waterestore.com/products/hum-water-saver-75-gpd-reverse-osmosis-system-brushed-nickel-faucet because they give you unlimited super pure water, they remove forever chemicals like PFAS, and microplastics as well as PPCP's and a whole lot of other impurities in the water that none of the spring waters remove. So I would think that people who actually care about their bodies would keep that in mind when deciding where to get their families drinking water.
@@luciano8822 Why do you believe Kangen is the best water filter out there? Why do you think electifying water is the best way to purify it? Kangen water filtration goes to great lengths to explain that their system is great becasue it increases the pH while it has never been proven that water of a higher ph is better for you. Do you really think that man kind was put on this planet to drink water that has a pH of 9 when all streams and rivers have a pH of 6-7? So no, I wouldn't buy into the Kangen hype and defionitely would not drink the water from their systems. this is what I recommend waterestore.com/products/hum-water-saver-75-gpd-reverse-osmosis-system-brushed-nickel-faucet
Well regarding acid reflux. I have been drinking Evian and mountain valley water since 2018 and I have been on reflux meds. I just quit cold turkey because i was tired of the side effects. Anyway, I started noticing symptoms coming back after drinking the "good" water. So I started drinking Ozarka and nothing. I guess cheaper water is the play
One of the points of this video is that not all water is the same, in fact far from it. It never hurts to experiment to see what works best for you and your family.
I’ve installed two under the sink reverse osmosis systems however when a towns water contains high levels of manganese and does not have their own good treatment process the filters clog quickly and it becomes very expensive very quickly.
The best solution would be a water softeenr to remove the manganese in the whole house including the water going to the reverse osmosis system, or as you say, changing the filters more often. waterestore.com/collections/water-softener-1?pf_pt_product_type=System

Out of all the waters I drank smart water is probably my favorite. Something about the taste is nice but I wanted to see what water is actually more beneficial for our bodies so this was enlightening. Well technically you really shouldn't drink Dasani water. It's pH level is acidic.
Dasani water has a pH similar to lake and river water which, if polution free, is perfectly acceptable for humans. Your body automatically compensates for the pH of whatever liquid you drink. Lte's not forget that coffee has a pH of around 3.0, tea 4.2 and grapefruit juice 2.9 which is far more acidic than Dasani water.

As physicians, having a history as water specialists - NO ENDORSEMENTS and NO AFFILIATIONS - we recommend only Mountain Valley Spring water. Interesting you never mention it. And for those using or considering R/O water, it is dead water, with low pH, no mineral content, and the systems cause a process that allows for bacteria build up that can make you sick. We’ve treated many a patient sick with a R/O source of drinking water. Good luck everyone, do your homework!
I will check out that very expensive Mountain Spring Water. This is the first time I have ever heard of a Doctor treating a patient sick caused by RO source water. What was their sickness? How do you know it was caused by RO water? Why do you call RO water Dead water? It is lower in pH than most tap water but about the same pH as lake or rain water. Do you not think mankind was originally meant to drink lake or rain water which are both low in pH and mineral content. RO water has mineral content, not no mineral content as you state. RO systems do not "cause a process that allows for bacteria build up that can make you sick", as you state, where did you get this information from? You might want to check out this video czcams.com/video/JOuE2U_oCPc/video.html I do agree with you that everyone should do their homework and carefully consider the source of the content they listen to.
@@GarytheWaterGuy Gary, I bet you’ve also not heard of reversing osteoarthritis which we’ve done for 30 years as physicians. We’ve not heard of a lot of things until we have heard. R/O has never been natural to the human body. Water naturally wants to concentrate. When you reverse the flow, it deadens it. We have treated many patients (not just one patient but hundreds) who were sick from R/0 water. How do we know? We take them off of R/O water and put them on MVS water and their many health issues turn around rapidly. Skin lesions, colds, low immune, fatigue and other issues that plagued them for the years while they were on R/O clear up quickly. Not everyone would associate illness with the water they drink. Understandable. That is why I made the comment. Humans built communities around springs of water from aquifers. We no longer have many of these left as humans having become more and more ignorant about earth’s resources and how to utilize them, have destroyed most aquifers. Dew in the morning, rivers, lakes and streams were not the primary source of human drinking water. It was the source of water for land vegetation and animals as it is now. Humans have a very different process of cellular activity that requires water that has moved through rock and sprung from it with vitality. Most spring water is not drawn from sources that are healthy any longer and the treatment of the water is often lacking in sustaining water vitality. MVS uses only ozone and filtration. They monitor for bacteria (always a concern with any water) and they are in a pristine area. You have incorrect information about cost. If I go to a local health food store, I can get MVS (not mountain spring water as you called it, it’s Mountain Valley Spring water) for less than Icelandic or Fiji or Voss, just as examples. And delivery is even less expensive even though no plastic is used, glass only. We all know that water can make us sick if it’s not clean but cleaning it with point of entry systems and purification systems in general does not cause the mineral content to be good or the pH to be what our bodies need or the water to be able to flush out our cells and make our cellular pumps work optimally. The source of water is the primary key. Of importance, I’m saying that any source of water cannot simply be purified to be healthy. We focus on the source of the water itself and the use of methods that do not destroy it. An example: The common complaint about R/O water of those trying to choose healthy water is that 90% or more of the minerals are removed. Our concern is not the removal of minerals from water but that the source of the water is unhealthy to begin with. Mineral content, pH, purity and so on can be manipulated. The way the water effects our cells cannot be manipulated. The best sourced water will have the right pH, about 7.4, and good mineral content that assists the water as it moves through our cells electrically, clearing debris, and this causes all of the factors to coalesce to a level of vital energy required for the human body. Our brains and guts particularly require it over what plants and other land mammals require. We see a seething malaise over humanity, its not just the food and air negatively impacting us, it’s also water. When I was young I was interested in many varied areas of health. When I was 14 I read the seminal work Silent Spring, which along with a great number of health interests, led to deeper and broader understandings about human health. Much more to learn and implement, water being one of them.
MVS water is extremely expensive to most families. Period.
@@Surrealist_369 I do agree water should be healthy, from the source, and free. But we have destroyed our present day access almost entirely. Even municipal water has costs to the consumer as does well water. And cheaper bottled water than MVS is an option but how healthy is it? R/O and distilled is UNHEALTHY for drinking water. So it comes down to your priorities. I don’t know you but I know our patients and others. What do you value? Do you “need” new appliances, furniture, a motorcycle, electric bike, a new car, new toys of some sort, electronics, a vacation? How much do you spend on beer? Beer is much more expensive than water as is wine and whiskey. How important is your health? There is not one single area of immediate health that is more important than healthy water. If you think some filtration system on your tap water is sufficient, it is not. If you think your well water is good enough, it isn’t. Do you drink water put into plastic? Is your water from the source, barely touched other than ozonation and filtration? It really depends Surreal on your priories. If someone is on food stamps, get off the computer and internet and spend that money on your hydration. As someone nearly 70, having helped human beings in the capacity of multiple professional titles, I can tell you that those who succeed in health are the ones who set their priorities, empower themselves and their families, and become healthier - by leaps and bounds. Period.
@@ToddDouglasFox what's a practical solution? A filter that removes pharmaceuticals, metals, fluoride and bacteria is markedly better than tap water (I'm not referring to cheap pitcher filters or RO systems). I also use neodymium magnets to structure mine and try to drink from glass or stainless steel only. There's only so much you can do outside of living near a spring.
fiji is my favorite
Good to know.
I filter my tap water with Zero Water filters, I enjoy Montellier lemon flavoured too.
Good to know. Did you check out my new bottled water video? czcams.com/video/lBq-z9Xu4Rc/video.html
Thank you !

I’ve been drinking pure life water for awhile now, to me it tastes the best especially for the price. Also I’m from Florida and the pure life here is from Lee FL from a deep protected well. It’s also purified by reverse osmosis or distillation. What you tested is obviously different from what we have here.
I also love Topo Chico sparkling mineral water, I love drinking this over soda with food.
I would check that if I were you. Nestle Pure Life is not Reverse Osmosis water, it is spring water
@@GarytheWaterGuy that’s what it says on the label.
Pure life is Nestle. Nestle basically steals (pennies on the dollar) water from many bodies of water. It's basically tap water in a bottle.
To become the largest food distributor in the world is not based on morals and truths.
@@MrMoonMath nestle are complete oligarchic grifters and scum

So what’s the best bottled water? The title of the video is misleading
It really isn't. The best bottled water if the reusable water bottle you fill at home from your Reverse Osmosis Drinking Water System and take with you. At the end I share what the best bottled water is that I buy when travelling and I can't refill from my home system.
Thank you for the deep dive. Have you assessed Deer Park?
Not yet! Is that your favourite?
@@GarytheWaterGuy as a child I loved natural spring well water but with parasites etc and for budget reasons I drink filtered water. I have had water from Germany, Perrier, Evian, Aquafina, Fiji, smart water, and alkaline water. I think my favorite would be Fiji but that gets really pricey. I’d love to hear your opinion about deer park and Poland water since those are readily available at Costco and Wegmans.
I will check them out.
I really like Dasani. I hadn't given much thought to what might be best for health, I just think it tastes better than other options.
Dasani is a good choice. Check out my new bottled water video here czcams.com/video/lBq-z9Xu4Rc/video.html

Sure thing, this is the one in my house for my family waterestore.com/products/hum-water-saver-75-gpd-reverse-osmosis-system-brushed-nickel-faucet
What is ozonation process? And is water taken to where it is bottled or is the water bottled where it is processed?
Ozonation is when ozine gas is added to the water to make it taste "fresher" and to kill bacteria. Some bottles are bottled at the source while others qre bottles elsewhere. Check out my new bottled water video here czcams.com/video/lBq-z9Xu4Rc/video.html
So which water should I use if I make coffee for drip machine
Reverse Osmosis water like Dasani or Aquafina
Brilliant video Gary, you've obviously put a lot of hard work into this and it's appreciated 👍 I'm in the UK and we can get most if not all of these waters here, so I can definitely decide which is best for us, after watching the video, it seems a shame that we can't just collect rain water, boil it, filter it, and drink that instead 😇, or can we? 🤔
Sure you can!! But that is a lot of work because you would alos need to disinfect it. You might want to check out this newest bottled water video here czcams.com/video/lBq-z9Xu4Rc/video.html

Evian is my favorite if you can afford it. I splurge every once and a while on it and love its clean taste!
What is your second choice?
@@GarytheWaterGuy I think it is called Eternal, I had it once and it was my second favorite. Everyday to drink would be regular old Dasani :).
Update: I would have to say after drinking all the more expensive waters, Icelandic is the only one that does not upset my stomach after drinking it in quantity. I would now rank 1: Icelandic, tied for 2: Fiji, and 3: Voss, and 4: Evian.
I heard you today on Rude Jude show on shade 45, appreciate all the info I now look at water in a totally different way! Keep up the good work!

Does the filter work when ever the water suddenly turns brown idk if it’s common but super rarely at my house the water will turn brown hasn’t happened in years but it does happen
Yes, when we lived in town that happened at our house too. This will remove the brown so you'll never have that problem again. waterestore.com/products/hum-water-saver-75-gpd-reverse-osmosis-system-brushed-nickel-faucet
My family currently uses a reverse osmosis system now but we are concerned about the fluoride and heavy metals in the water. We were under the impression that the only way to remove the fluoride was through a distilling process. My question is will reverse osmosis remove fluoride and other heavy metals from the water?
Reverse Osmosis sure will. By the way if you want to check out my newest video on bottled water, it is here czcams.com/video/lBq-z9Xu4Rc/video.html
Can I send you a water sample for testing? I recently installed a pentair filter system. Now my water tastes great. I am curious to know what difference there is before and after the filter.
Yes we can but we only test for a few parameters, see waterestore.com/pages/free-water-test-evaluation-the-water-estore

What would you recommend if you didnt have money to install an expensive system in your house what would be the next best recommendation thats affordable and the most safest to drink which is too accessible ?
Reverse Osmosis water like Dasani, Aquafina or Smart Water
@@GarytheWaterGuy Yet those are all the junk brands…
Just educate yourself on building a water filtration system, people over here in Netherlands used to drink from a wooden barrel catching rain water from the drainage pipe system around the roof of the house! They even had a species of fish in their barrel, as long as it lived the water was good too drink, if it died, you better found out what caused it & get things fixed! Hahaha
You can make water seep through different layers of fabric sheets that contain pebbles, sand, moss, carbon etc. from rough to finest material, 1 each sheet, to filter out a lot, then you can boil it, store it in copper (antimicrobial) vessel, test with a pendulum etc.
We are such helpless creatures since hardly anybody still has some ancient survival skills in their memories...
It's not that hard to study & experiment a bit!
Ask around to the elders in your communities how they dealt with stuff! There is treasures to be found there!
My go to are Icelandic water, pure life, liquid death (only sparkiling water) and Topo chico Sparkling water. Do you recommend those?
No, I recommend Reverse Osmosis water, none of those are RO water.

Liquid Death? Lol how are you gonna drink water that’s named that, the people that make that water are witches also smh
