- How to remove the turbo silencer ring on a third gen 5.9 24v cummins in a dodge ram 2500.
I removed the turbo silencer ring from my truck. Do you guys think it will actually be louder? Watch and find out!

Change your intake you’ll hear it a lot more the stock intake also muffles the turbo sounds it’ll also give you more power by reducing the airflow restrictions
It’s definitely on the to do list
I have an S&B Air box and pulled the ring out and it made it way louder
LOVE THE VID BRO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
Thanks! 🙏
Went through 4 videos to finally come to your real and honest opinion. 🤘 thanks bro!
Thanks for watching!
"If it doesn't have a Cummins then you shouldn't have a Dodge" 🤣🤣🤣 I didn't notice a huge sound difference either though...I even rewatched it and couldn't decide
I feel like it didn't change lol. You should put a cummins in your dodge!
@@Teysik I would take a Cummins with a manual transmission any day!
Kelsey Gittings the question is if it would fit!
What is the percentage of cummins is really s cummins? What percentage is fiat ?
You can really hear the difference when you go like your about to do a boosted launch.
This dude is so laid back I liked The video at 2:03 of the video… 👌🏼 gonna suscribe cause my truck is the same year model!
Thanks dude!
very helpfull thank you i just removed the silencer in my hx35
Haha, nice! You’re welcome
Quieter exhaust definitly helps, my truck had an open downpipe, which made it easier to hear the exhaust turbine but after building a quiter exhaust setup, and swapping to a temporary cone filter directly on the turbo, it definitly made it alot louder on the intake side. Im in the process of building an intake for it hence why its just the cone filter atm.
I think the intake would make a big difference to mine too
Slap a cold air filter on that bad boy. You should hear a significant change in volume if you do that!
Greetings from sweden btw:)
I’m tempted to do that
marscars here love the bmw build and love the RAM silencer ring delete keep it up
Thanks man I appreciate it!
Look inside you Air Box and intake tube coming from the fender, you may also have a Baffle in there to help silence the sound. My 99 24V did w/ the HX-35, also has a K&N Filter .
I believe I did check out the intake tube and didn’t see any restrictions in there
The only difference I heard was "if you don't have a Cummins then you shouldn't have a dodge"...
The sound that you got when you took that ring off its what mine sounds like with the ring on, I wonder how loud it'd be...
If you have aftermarket intake then it should be a lot louder
All stock :) except its a 91 first gen w250
@@mentlegen8187 ahh, nice
Get rid of stock intake tube and you will hear it. I have a cool hose straight through tube
Possible the turbo bearing are on their last leg and it's not spooling up as much as it should? Mine is louder than that but I'm not sure if it has a silencer ring in it or not but I'm gonna check tomorrow. Nothing like the sound of forced induction
Do you have an aftermarket intake or exhaust?
@@Teysik stock intake and exhaust
@@Teysik only thing on it is a bulldog triple dog and torque dog fueling box
@@jamesjackson4224 interesting. I really need to get a boost gauge so I can see if I’m building full boost
@@Teysik pulled my intake off this morning. The silencer is off and the intake is gutted
Remove the intake baffle as well.
The slanted side of the retaining clip is on the top and I’ve tried for a hour and I can’t get the clip out
It can be very frustrating, that’s for sure. Maybe try a good pick
what are some major cons about removing the silencer ring??
Your turbo is louder… that’s it. It literally does nothing else
It causes turbulent airflow before the turbo. You may lose 1 mile of range across a whole tank of fuel.
The Advantage of removing the Silencer ring you remove an intake restriction on the compressor side. It uncovers the slots along the edge of the turbo. They allow the turbo to draw in a bit more air. thus cooler air going into the engine..
I was thinking about doing that same thing to my 01 model but I problaby won't now.
Maybe try an intake first. I might do that next
Are there any negatives too this, cheers
None that I’m aware of
Can we have update on this truck?
Not much to update about it. I rebuilt the trans. Other than that it’s the same. Good ol reliable Cummins
New intake and exhaust you will hear it
Have a custom exhaust, stock intake though
My second gen turbo is loud AF
Do you have an aftermarket intake?
Mine sounds like a ricer with it out I don’t know how yours isn’t loud like mine
Lol, do you have an aftermarket air filter?
Yes
@@Fowlerz14 yah I think that makes a big difference
The only sad thing about my Cummins is it is deleted
That’s a bummer
Anyone gonna talk about Garage door being closed and carbon monoxide?
Haha, I always open it if I’m gunna be running it for more than a minute or so. It’s a big shop though so it’s not bad generally
@@Teysik Haha from what was shown I was just alarmed because of the inclosed area, my intention was to never make fun but only to bring to attention for your safety friend. Was just curious on the sound difference, saw this done on TikTok and wanted to research work done
@@blueskidew9935 no worries, it does look like a normal garage lol but it’s actually a big Morton building that could fit at least 6 cars
@@Teysik sheeesh that’s awesome
@@blueskidew9935 it’s not perfect but I’m definitely grateful to have it. When I started I was in a tiny 1 car garage
