  • In this video, I'm sharing some of the lessons I've learned about life after cancer. These lessons have helped me to embrace the wisdom cancer has brought into my life.
    Cancer has taught me the importance of authenticity, resilience, and forgiveness. Through these lessons, I've been able to grow and become the person I know I can be. I hope you'll find these cancer lessons as helpful as I have.

    I value your words. It's real. Most can't do that. This is your journey because you can effect the lives of others who value themselves. One of the hardest lessons & jobs in live is practicing true self love in life. This is a man made system and cannot be your purpose. Most people don't know how to live. Life is about moments & being of service. The saddest lie ever told " life is random & meaningless & you are powerless" " someone told you your story & you believed it" JennaV. Have strength that you are divinely protected. This isn't a fight but yet a journey of elevating your soul

    Amen brother. We are identical in what we learned. I will add, be kind to your care givers, Medical personnel, family and friends. The fight to survive and the will to live is yours, they possess the tools and the knowledge to help you achieve it. So when someone says how you doing? Paste a smile on your face and say because of them, better than you deserve.

I’m advocating for myself, as I’m getting sicker and my throat is still burning and it’s middle April. I managed to send my doctor a photo of the back of my throat. Recovering right now form surgery to remove cancerous tonsil. Almost two weeks later, I can eat without severe pain. Swallowing food was very painful, so could only eat a few bites before I had to quit. Cancer is some type of lymphoma. Never did I think I would get cancer, a heart attack, yeah, but cancer, never. It is interesting that CZcams should be suggesting these videos to me at this time.

      Hey Man,
      My advice is to listen to your doctor and complete the course of antibiotics. I had a lot of sore throats, ear aches and swollen lymph nodes over the years that were not throat cancer related. However, if you still feel like something is not right, then ask for a referral to an Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) specialist and let the specialist check you out. Here is a link to the National Institute of Health regarding throat cancer and your chances of getting it in your 20's. I hope this helps! Keep us informed about how you are getting along. You will definitely be in our thoughts.

    I’m fixing to start treatment and I’m not very happy with the way my oncologist is handling me. I requested to see a different doctor at the hospital and was told by her nurse that they couldn’t do that and it would be a conflict of interest. They were going to dismiss me and send me to another treatment facility. I couldn’t believe it. Can they do that? Can they just send me out the door to somewhere else just cause I requested another doctor? I’m trying to advocate for myself but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere with them. What do I do?

    • @theregularguy141
      @theregularguy141  Před 5 měsíci

      Wow, I really don't understand why that would be a conflict of interest. In my experience any time I have asked to get a second opinion, the doctors were never offended or concerned. The only issue was whether or not insurance would cover a second consultation. If you are truly not happy, maybe address the doctor directly and see if it is a simple misunderstanding. Without knowing your details it is hard to say what you should do. But if you are not happy with your oncologist or the staff then a meeting with the facility patient advocate or administrator may be in order. If it doesn't improve then a new facility may be the best for you and your health. Please let me know how this plays out.

      @@theregularguy141 here’s a little background information. I was diagnosed back in November of 2023. I was told by the doctors that I would have to remove all silver fillings in my mouth before proceeding with radiation. That became a $9000 dental bill as well as having to have all four of my wisdom teeth cut out. As you know that’s a lot of money and takes time to get all that done. I live by myself, and I’m the only provider of my home. During all this, I am trying to work, go to doctors appointments, and earn a living. I had to push off a couple of appointments.(the swallow evaluation, and the chemo class) as well as my radiation appts due to not having all the dental work done yet. The doctor is making it seem like I’m not cooperating with them and delaying my treatment. That is not the case! I also has the flu and Covid during that time that prevented some of this as well. I spoke with the doctor on Friday and her statement to me well at this point, I just don’t think that we can treat you. You have delayed your treatment this far and I’m not sure what we can do. It made me cry, it made me nervous, and it left me with no hope. I found myself begging her to please work with me she said, I don’t know, I really think you need to see somebody in behavioral health due to your anxiety and fear of treatment. It left a very bad taste in my mouth for this doctor and I wish I had somebody with a little bit more compassion and understanding. I’m not sure what to do, as I don’t want to rock the boat and have her dismiss me from the hospital. I have already asked once to be transferred to a different oncologist and she was ready to send me off to another facility and I had to beg to stay. The other doctors that I asked to be transferred to are in her same practice. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you.

    • @theregularguy141
      @theregularguy141  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Hey Michael,
      That is a tough question. I think it really depends on your relationship with your oncologist and how far along you are in the process. Due to some other research that I have ongoing, I discovered this second opinion program at Univ. of Colorado Cancer Center. Basically it is a remote consultation that does not require travel etc. Take a look at the link and see if this is for you if you still have questions. If you do opt for the remote second opinion, let me know what you think and how it went.
      Good Luck!
