    Hi all, I have also HPV Cancer in 3 areas around the base of the tongue, lymph node and tonsil, It started with ear ache 6 Months ago. I had the CT, MRIs and biopsy which found the Cancer. My mask was made and I began treatment just 2 weeks ago and is ongoing, 10 sessions of Radiotherapy down and 1 Chemo. Weekends off for good behaviour, already lost taste, and ability to swallow anything other than liquid, shakes are Ok but difficult with real food, I did batch cook lots of soups, I know there is worst times ahead, just want to be over, start session 11 tomorrow and next week my second 18hr Chemo, just hope we are able to get through that with not much pain, just wanted to share my thoughts and wish you all well.

    HI LEE ITS JACQUES. This Friday my Chemo Oncology Dr wants me to start fluids this Friday for three weeks because I’m getting towards to the end of treatment,but he says I am doing fantastic. Still eating through my mouth chemo Tuesday, 26th radiation too. HPV/DNA profile study NAV/DX blood test was taken from me this past Tuesday. I’ll have the results Monday to see if they can cut back one chemo and five radiations and the last five radiation at 60 gray instead of 70 I’ll let you know how things go. I meditate every single radiation session and chemo session. It does help and I do meditate in bed at night and in the morning not for long , 5 to 8 minutes. Keep up the good work, my friend!

    Good vid Lee, thanks. I'm slated for updated imaging and bloodwork next week. Question for you about during your first year of recovery (i'm about to be in my 9th month and having some weird/tightening ache throughout the main lymph node they radiated, started happening about 2-3 weeks ago). Did you have a/any weird things creep up on you in your first year of recovery that had you in that dark space of thinking something was wrong?

    • @theregularguy141
      @theregularguy141  Před 4 měsíci +2

      I definitely had some tightening in the neck and throat area and that was attributed to muscle fibrosis, caused by radiation treatments. In all honesty, every time there was an ache or pain that seemed to linger would make think that "it" was coming back. At least 2/3 times I went to the ENT for an exam to see if something was going on. Thats a very real and valid fear.

    Hello. Stage 3 HPV positve SCC at the base of tongue. I finished my last treatment a month ago. 70 grey over 35 sessions and 6 chemo sessions of cisplatin. Had my first CT this past week. Results were encouraging. My problem is eating and drinking. I can somewhat taste the food or drink, i just cant bring myself to swallow. Im lucky if i get 30 oz. of water a day snd i haven't eaten a meal in a couple of weeks! This has left me week, dizzy and lethargic to say the least. The meal replacements make me sick to my stomach. Do you have any advice? Thanks!

    • @theregularguy141
      @theregularguy141  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi Bohemian,
      Hmm, that is a quandary. Have you tried the various kinds of replacements? I'm pretty sure there are dairy, non-dairy etc. It could be something easy to fix like that. You may also get a referral to a dietician and explain what is happening. That person may have some more insight. Are you eating through a PEG tube? The swallowing will come.You are only 4 weeks out of treatment. My first sip of water (attempted) was at 4 weeks and I thought I was going to choke to death. You NEED to get calories in as soon as possible. Your body needs that. Definitely discuss this with your doctor as well.

You need to start moving yourself, but get some PT to get yourself going and get yourself moving safely. The more you lay around, the more you will need more sleep. Start your sentence with "I" will walk 25 steps next day and increase it steadily until you can proudly tell your mom thank you mom for love and support but lets try it without the wheelchair. Set daily goals to help fill the long hours of loneliness, keep a daily journal of everything you have experienced, how it made you feel, daily accomplishments, people you have met going through cancer treatments.
