All mental, like eating was a comfort for me and the lack of self love led me to going all the way up to 508 pounds. I am currently down to 438 pounds, been uploading just for an extra layer of self accountability to be honest. Dieting isn't hard. Working out isn't hard. I used to weigh 326 pounds. I became unhappy with my appearance as I looked at myself in the mirror, feeling depressed due to relationship struggles. When I visited the doctor, I received the news that I was prediabetic. Realizing the need for a dietary change, I decided to eliminate animal meat from my diet. This change worked well for me, and 98 pounds later, five years down the line, I no longer consume meat. This transformation signified a shift in my eating habits. My next goal is to address dairy consumption, as I aim to eat cleaner, less inflammatory foods. I don't identify as a vegan; my focus is on improving my diet. I appreciate your content and the topics you discuss. Keep up the great work, and you have my unwavering support.

      Don't wait to get "motivated." You have to ACT FIRST and then the motivation will come. Just do one small thing in the direction of what you want and watch how the motivation comes. And if you keep doing that enough it will become a habit and you won't require any "motivation" because the habit will form and that is what will get your mind working for you, instead of against you. Most people don't realize their mind is working against them because of the habits (bad subconscious habits) they have. Get your mind working for you and then there is no motivation required. Find an image of how you would like your body to look....look at that image multiple times a day.....once that image is "etched" in your subconscious mind, your mind will then push you in that direction to achieve that. I promise you it works! The language of our subconscious are images. I used that to my advantage when I learned that. I wish you well on your journey!

      I truly understand the emotional toll that weight gain, especially after a big life change like moving, can have on your well-being. It's not just about the physical aspect, but also about how you feel inside. Remember, it's okay to feel disappointed, but don't let that be the end of your journey. Your acknowledgment of wanting to make a change is a powerful first step.
      Motivation can be elusive, especially at 45, but it's never too late to start. Think about setting small, achievable goals. Perhaps start with a short walk each day, gradually increasing the distance or intensity. Remember, the hardest part is often just getting started. Each small step is a victory.

I love sweets! I’m ok with cheating here and there because I never want to completely deprive myself but don’t want it to slow down my progress. I’m trying to find the balance between having a joyful, enjoyable life and a disciplined one.

      First off, congratulations on your incredible progress! Losing 40 lbs is no small feat and speaks volumes about your dedication. Your approach towards seeking balance is admirable. It's essential to remember that perfection isn't the goal; progress is.
      Allowing yourself the occasional treat can indeed be part of a healthy lifestyle, as it's about making conscious choices rather than restricting joy. To navigate this balance, consider planning your treats as part of your diet rather than seeing them as cheats. This mindset shift can help you enjoy sweets without feeling guilty or derailing your progress.

    This is perfect Brix! I agree that starting small and manageable is how you build momentum. When you start, the motivation will come and it will defeat that feeling of being defeated. Whenever I felt overwhelmed or defeated or like I just could not do this and this thing was bigger than me, I just took ACTION and every single time it banished that feeling of defeat. After doing that enough, it then became a habit and is now engrained in me! Before I managed to get myself started, I was convinced that food would kill me but I just kept trying and eventually it stuck. I prayed and cried alot too asking God to help me please overcome my food addiction because I felt and saw the effects it was having on me. I overcame it and we ALL have that same thing within all of us. The bible says "we are overcomers!" And that is the truth!

    @BrixFitness I just watched your video about easing into intermittent fasting so I will be trying that first.
    However, wondering if you have tips (of your own or others experience) for those of us with intense late night cravings for sweets?
    Lastly, for us new to fasting (planning to eat 12-8) when do you suggested having workouts?

    • @BrixFitness
      @BrixFitness  Před 4 měsíci

      It's great to hear you're taking the first steps with intermittent fasting! Managing late-night cravings for sweets is a common hurdle. One effective strategy is to ensure your meals are well-balanced, incorporating enough protein, fiber, and healthy fats, which can help keep you fuller longer and stabilize blood sugar levels. Also, consider healthy sweet alternatives like fruit, or a small serving of dark chocolate, to satisfy those cravings without derailing your progress.
      As for workout timing, it's generally best to exercise within your eating window when your body has fuel. If you're eating from 12-8, an afternoon workout could be ideal, allowing you to fuel up beforehand and recover with a balanced meal afterward. However, some people find they perform well fasting, so feel free to experiment with what time feels best for your body.
      Remember, discipline and consistency are key, but so is listening to your body. If you're looking for more personalized advice and support, check out my group coaching program at www.wearegodswellness.com. I appreciate your honesty and courage in sharing your struggles with binge eating and body dysmorphia. Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Facing these challenges is tough, but the first step is acknowledging them, which you've bravely done.
      A practical strategy to start with is mindfulness. Try to be present during your meals, eating slowly and savoring each bite. This can help reduce binge eating episodes.
      Additionally, consider keeping a journal to track your feelings and eating patterns, as it can offer insights into what triggers your binge eating.
      Body dysmorphia is a complex issue, and it's essential to approach it with kindness towards yourself. Try to shift your focus from appearance to functionality - appreciate what your body can do rather than how it looks.
      Remember, your worth is not defined by your appearance.
