Here's why a 500hp Manual LB7 Duramax is the PERFECT Daily Driver

- My manual, lifted, and wide LB7 Duramax is an interesting truck to daily drive. From the 22X14s, to the 4-6" lift, to the high HP tune (stage 5) to the clunky ZF6 and aftermarket clutch, it makes it a unique experience for sure!

Lmao I drove a 10k pound 7.3 dually zf6 as my very first vehicle. I single handedly seal coated my high school parking lot with oil leaks and diesel leaks. Biggest pos on the lot but boy did I love it. C clamps to keep the utility body closed because the latches rusted out of it. Then pulled up in the cleanest e46 bmw the next year no one really knew what to think of me😂
🤣 sounds like my high school!
All the ford guys love the 7.3 not me had 2 as co vehicles in so cal. oil leaks on my concrete driveway never went away
We fixed a Cummins at our work to get it running and damn. I’m in love. I want a manual diesel for fun now!
; I got a 2001 2500 LB7 92,000 miles, actually my truck runs fairly quite, stock exhaust. K&N breather and a tow tuner. I bought a quite smooth riding fuel efficient all season road tires for it . City and around home 15 -16 mpg , highway 23+ mpg. I also have 2004 Chevy 3500 8.1 and a 1999 Chevy 2500 6.0 and a 1999 Nissan Frontier 4cly 5 speed 26 mpg hwy.
Love this video because most of the points you hit were the exact reason I love my truck. The On Star part was the only dud, lol. Most city slickers wouldn't understand!
OnStar is a weird gadget lol
I realize it is kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good place to stream newly released movies online ?
@Major Trace i watch on FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
@Grayson Hamza Definitely, I've been watching on flixzone for since april myself :D
@Grayson Hamza Thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I appreciate it !
I've obsessed over buying a zf6 for years but too much money and problems. Glad I never did!
Mine hasn't had problems but the shifting leaves a lot to be desired
Right on point 👍👍
👌
This video was hilarious haha! Quick question though! I have a 2003 chevy 2500hd LB7 and I'm running 37s. I'm on my 3rd red head steering gear in less than a year. Do you have any advice?? I can't tell you how many shops I've been too and no one knows what to do
I never replaced my steering stuff, but it didn't turn very easily with the 14 wides lol. I thought the red head stuff was good?
@@matt13ross that’s what I thought. But all of them have come with a crazy amount of play in the sector shaft. All these other guys on 14-16 wides and here I am on my 3rd gear already. I don’t know what to do haha
That sucks! I'd reach out to some of the Duramax Facebook groups and see what they think.
Upgrade the pitman and idler arm and idle arm bracket to the kryptonite and your front end parts and it should help your red head. Or get the red head HD version
@@zacknelson8918 I’ll look into that but when I had the first red head gear installed I literally had a brand new pitman / idler arm / idler gusset wielded to the frame
Level those mirrors brotha! Nice ride 👊
They are leveled! Didn’t go crazy though I’m sure they aren’t perfectly level but they are better than OEM.
@@matt13ross Hard to tell in video but nice man, cool truck 👍 got a lly that’s semi built, love it even though it’s a pos haha.
Thank you sir!
Shit love it!!!! Bow tie till I die!!!!!
That's right!
I dad drive a 6.0 gas engine as a daily driver and he loves it
Nothing wrong with that at all.
I really want to know the part number for the transfer case. I’m looking to turn my 03 3500 dually with ZF6 into 4x4. So far you and one other guy on CZcams have an 03 with zf6 with 4x4
Not a clue. I sold the truck
I have a rare Duramax. 2002 single cab dually Duramax/ZF6. I have more people interested in my dually than my 69 Camaro.
If you cut up the clips and take out the word truck it sounds like your talking about a prius 😂. I am always jealous of your truck though, it definitely has a place.
True story lol!
Where did you get those headlights?
I built them! Have the build video on my channel
The owners manual says one may let the LB7 idle all night.
04 lb7 zf6 cc lb 4x4 stock suspension HSP trac bars airdog 150 45% over sac injectors 64 mm turbo CAI up pipes down pipe MBRP 4in straight pipe no tune. Im getting 14.5mpg. In shop now for ARP head studs head gaskets super stock CP3 pump. SBC dual disk clutch and tune next.
That's a solid list of mods!
@@matt13ross not cheap either. I've got about 25k in it so far.
If I would have kept mine I wanted to do a larger turbo or a compound setup. Never got around to it though.
@@matt13ross the injectors, turbo, and cp3 are from Lincoln Diesel Specialties.
Can’t you believe you sold this 😭
More coming!
Nice 😍😍😍😍😍
Wish you didn’t sell but on to bigger projects!
What's going to be next??
Fuel economy really isn’t even bad 🤷🏻♂️😂
Probably the highest of any 6.6 Duramax
I get 24 mpg highway it ain’t bad
My stock 03 stick gets 17mpg, no highway driving. 13ish pulling hopper wagons, combine head, hay wagons. .. good ass trucks
Love my Honda hybrid, my Duramax sits at home on a charger.
That's ideal
What does honda and duramax have in common, both made in Japan, "isuzu motors" is duramax.
hey if you don't want it, I got a, "mint," 2013 prius we can trade.
Outstanding deal
Good sell! 😂
😂 I know right
😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I'm here solely to make myself laugh lol
Why complain about a truck if you chose to own it
Because I like to complain. And I don't own it anymore.
That wheel setup is horrible. Great truck, but thin rubber on the large negative offset rims makes it look like a joke. :(
To each their own
Emotional damage
😂
Can I have it
😂 not cheap!
Here’s why a 500 hp diesel is the worst daily driver**
But it’s not a long bed not impressed.
I don’t like long beds
@@matt13ross well I don’t like you LOL.
LOL!
