- We are going to find out if we got scammed buying this 2003 LB7 Duramax dually I purchased last week. There are some underlying issues I had no idea about until I brought it home.

Definitely going to be following this build. I just picked up a 2004 GMC 2500 LB7, and it needs some a bit of TLC, but it is still in a lot better condition than most of the other midwestern trucks of the same year.
Dude love this truck it has such a great stance. Once you fix some cosmetic things it’s gonna be one of the nicest around
That picture at 3:00 is my truck!
Can’t wait for the lb7 content.
Being that it’s 2wd that makes it an easier candidate for a solid axel swap. I think that would be a bad ass build with a Dana 60 up front!
why is a 2wd a "easier candidate" there is no transfer case... 🤔
Because you don't have to deal with all the IFS sensors and what not. Pick up a HD manual tcase and slap a 60 up front@@thomasstott527
I have a buddy who has a 2007 Silverado LBZ Dually and that thing is gorgeous yet simple
My 03 had the same issue with the windows and locks, I replaced the driver door module with all your buttons, and it fixed everything
How about getting rid of the captions all throughout you videos?
Why’s that?
Why does that matter lol
Just annoying to me it not like we can understand what your saying, or maybe I’m just being nit picky I’m not sure
@@patricsturm5473 🤦🏼♂️
I agree
It would be cool to see you do a solid axle swap on this!!
Convert it to 4WD. That would be awesome
Just picked up a very similar truck myself! Early cateye LB7 crew cab dually. The crank position sensor decided to go bad on first drive home 💀 old trucks are fun
Hey man, I’m looking to buy wheel and rock lights from you. But I need them relatively quick, I was wondering how long it normally takes to ship. I only live like an hour out of Augusta.
You should get my man from diesel Enthuziasts to partner up with you, and build this truck. I think that would be a great collaboration.
I’m having the same window issue on my 05 duramax 2500 the front and back passenger side windows will not row down. Even when I got new motors installed in the window and it still won’t tow down.
I’d have to fix all the cosmetic issues as well but that being said it is 20 years old so it’s to be expected
Nices what kind of tires are those on the back of the truck
A weird thing about electric windows may not involve the electric shits.
The window is able to feel an obstacle and reverse direction. The dog was barking out the window and I closed it from my side. The window touched the dog and reversed.
Perhaps the window is rubbing on the track. Or the track may be bent.
If the tint interferes with the channel the window will be too wide and the motor will be trying to reverse itself and go up too causing the window motor to stall
Mine doesn’t turn the glow plug light on either it turned on today cus the check engine light came on
the grill is the 2005-2007 2003-2004.5 had the "first gen cateye" grill
go crazy make it a 6x6 monster!
I'm curious to know what you paid for it
Where is Truck master when you need him 😢
Did u check for blow by
I always wonder if someone hacked everything that you can see, how did they maintain the stuff you don't. "Allegedly" wouldn't make me feel good on this one. I will be following along on your progress.
Trust me, I have plans to fix er up 🙌
Debadge the tailgate 1st so if it’s just painted over u don’t got a huge eye sore til u can get it redone
There are ways to fix it and it’ll be fixed sooner than later
My lbz was repainted too and needs to be fixed. Whoever had that truck must've been real cheap
Never knew looks mattered so much for buying a truck for good use
I personally do bc I like to have nice things. Not everyone feels the same way but it’s okay.
What’d you pay for it?
I'm sure you'll be fine with 2wd
Just have to be careful not to get in a spot where you'll need 4wd.
Where’s the trans temp gauge
Can that transmission be converted to a 6 speed?
yes
That’s a gasser cluster, there’s no trans temp gauge either
The real question is how much did you pay.
8:09 not all duramax trucks had the transmission temp gauge mine didn’t because it was a manual
Yeah but mines not manual and the lift gate message
@@JWMontoya i wanted it to be known though thats all because based on what I heard it made seem like no one knew some of them didnt have it but I cant blame anyone since not many were made
Lower it or 4x4 swap it
If I were you I’d take advantage of it being 2wd and do a SAS 4WD conversion on it
Cool idea! I personally don’t like SAS though
why is it an advantage to it being a 2wd... the SAS swap is identical on a 4wd... and you have the transfer case already...🤔
@@thomasstott527 because he already has this truck in his possession instead of going out to look for a 4wd but it doesn’t matter anyway because he already stated that he isn’t going to do that
@@thomasstott527 he can take advantage of it being 2wd with a manual transfer case instead of running a harness and tccm.. all he would have to do is reflash the Tcm to work properly when in low range
@Duramax_LSX_DenaliL5P ok... but it being a 2wd is no advantage.. had it been 4wd there would already be a transfer case.. so certainly a disadvantage...
The only way I would not hate everything about a truck I buy,is if it were free
That’s true
No trans temp gauge cluster either…
I believe it was mentioned
The 2wd isn’t that big of a deal
4x4 swap it. Be pretty cool build.
Outta curiosity who here has had good luck with 2003 chevys and gmcs ive had 3 on number 3 now first was a 2500hd gasser second was a 1500 gasser now a tahoe each of them had really bad wiring issues
I’ve had 2 99-07 Chevy 1st one I sold at 220k miles still running strong and my cateye rn has 250k miles still strong
I own a 06 Duramax 2500 no issues ever so far. 05 Suburban knock sensor keeps going crazy still trying to fix that, 99 Silverado 1500, 1st to 2nd shift it would kick, replaced shift solenoids problem fix. That's the only problem I have had with that truck.
Seems to be just a 2003 thing for me had a 99 one time rough old truck but never gave the first issue my dad had a 01 1500 and a 01 2500hd gasser both were phenomenal trucks
Why’d you buy it then?😂
It helps if you watch the video!
Truck looks clapped out bro
Keep the down words style tip just new
That’s absolutely crazy you overlooked such obvious things being you have owned so many duramax and driven so many. Smh
It happens. You live and learn
@@JWMontoyayup it is what it is. It’s just a cluster. Not a blown transmission
Can’t agree more!! After Sooo many videos and videos on what to look out for when buying a used truck. Lol that is a lot of big fails!
“mAkE iT 4xfOuR”
Wut
Dam bro but is nice tho
She’s not bad 🫣
You bought an absolute POS 😂😂 you bought someone’s project, which is a BIG no no. You’re fixing to be DEEP into this truck.
More content though 😬
Next time i sell a truck can you come give me $10k more than what its worth?
Yeah, let me know
Sorry to tell you but you got screwed bad on this truck haha
Haha
At this point just interior swap it
Dude I don't want to be that guy but the grille an hood have nothing to do with whether it's first Gen or not. Your truck has an HD grille with a normal 1500 style hood. If you want integrity. Get an HD hood for your HD truck. Tell us you know nothing about the cateye without actually telling us 😂
Well it is my first cateye, but there are 2 different hoods on cateye HDs. It’s kinda embarrassing for you to own one but don’t know 🤣
@JWMontoya I literally just told you the other style hood 🤣 it literally looks like a 1500 style hood only its raised it hair more whoppy fuckin do you're the guy talking in video that has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to a cateye 🤣
The captions are obnoxious… Do you think I can’t speak English? If I was having trouble understanding I think I’d be smart enough to turn them on.
Is it about as obnoxious as this comment?
make it 4x4
Shock the world and slam it on the ground since it's a 2wd:)
