3 DRAWBACKS TO DAILY DRIVING A DIESEL TRUCK

- These 3 drawbacks become issues when your daily driving your truck and driving thousands of miles each year. Take these into consideration when choosing gas or diesel for your daily driver. These apply not just to this 2nd gen Cummins but all diesels such as Ford Powerstroke and Chevy Duramax

1st Drawback: 1:09
2nd Drawback: 2:46
3rd Drawback: 3:54
Diesel price is a deterrant for non commercial use.
None of those are reasons for me not to drive my 12v all day everyday. Granted I don't live in commifornia but still maintenance is important to any vehicle and I'd rather drive my 98 12v than a gasser any day.
Exactly man that why I’ve daily drove my 24v for four years!
Commifornia😭😭😭 as a texan this got me in tears
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who calls it commifornia
Stop buying 50/50, you're paying 8-10 dollars for half a gallon of distilled water.
3 gallons of pure antifreeze = $57, 3 gallons of distilled water from Walmart = $3. Saves you $40 and is literally the same thing as buying 6 gallons of 50/50.
Good call!
I never understood why people do this.
Sometimes It feels like extreme overkill and I am wasting the truck by daily driving a vehicle that is designed to tow 20,000+ pounds just to go get a candy bar
If I got a dollar every time I heard “damn” 😂
Fuckin smiles per gallon boys. Makes it all worth it 👌🏻🤙🏻
Can't wait bro I drive a family van now but I want a daily diesel SMILES PER GALLON 😁💪🏾🔥
25 years ago Diesel used to be cheaper than gas. Bring back the good ole’ days of fuel prices.
Exactly man!!
Lol it depends on where u live diesel was always cheaper where I live
Yeah Diesel is cheaper than gas where I live
The Creator hit it on the head: Less money to refine diesel, so why is it more than regular gasoline??
Everything he said was practically cheaper than the hell maintenance I gotta do on my 07 jeep wrangler
Love your drive. Don't say it is a damn thing. Love your drive. It will love you back. It will want to deliver you into tomorrow. Love.
Well damn, damn, damn, damn, McDamn
Simple. Well spoken. Thanks!
Another thing you have to worry about on newer Diesels is the emissions equipment. The idiot greenies that have overtaken governments all over are somehow completely oblivious to the fact that countless Diesel owners who run newer Diesels are having to pay a googolplex squared dollars to repair things like clogged/cracked EGR coolers, DPF plugging and regen systems failing, and SCR system (DEF system) faults that detract greatly from the advantages that Diesel offers over gas. At least here in Michigan we don't have smog checks so if I bought a Diesel I could get away with an EGR and DPF delete, but if you live in a state that has smog checks, then... yeah.
Somewhere on YT there was a guy who said that he got a SEVENTY PERCENT INCREASE in fuel economy from removing the EGR and DPF. It is the restrictive nature of EGR and DPF systems and the fact that they choke your engine down that I'd take an Adblue system over an EGR + DPF setup any day of the year.
After seeing the ugly side of the emissions systems on modern Diesels, I'm getting a gas truck.
What gas truck did you end up getting?
@@techti8792 I'm looking at a Sierra 3500 Dually with the 6.6 small block or an F350 Dually with the 7.3 Godzilla.
Mods: Lift, bigger wheels, bigger tyres, shorty headers -twin turbos, Whipple supercharger, X pipe dual exhaust.- single turbo (Y pipe before the turbo), single exhaust.
Fuel cost is only really a downside if you run anything bigger than a 34” tire. Speaking from personal experience 😂 and mine being a manual and putting upwards of 50,000 on it in the last two years I honestly haven’t had to do much maintenance because of everything that’s gone out, I’ve been 40,000 since the coolant flush/replaced radiator and been fine. I go about every 10,000 miles on each oil change. And run 6oz of 2 stroke oil every 3 full fuel ups to keep the injectors lubricated. Honestly from the 20-26 mpg to the amazing power and finally all around reliability, I love daily driving my 04 24v
What kind of performance mods do you have? What tire combination are you running to get 20-26?
@@pwgervais I was getting that mileage on just 20x10s and 33’s. The kid that owned it before me put 40% injectors in and I put a smarty jr on it. It helped that it was a manual too
I daily a 7.3 but my commute to work is 6 miles 😂
another reason reason not buy a newer diesel is if your commute is not at least 50 miles or more, the emissions equipment only operates correctly when its hot. If you never get it hot if will eventualy clog this system. 50 miles or more I think unloaded. Might be different if opertating it loaded.
Lol great video all true lol one of my downsides is going threw fast food drive threws i have a 99 f250 with the 7.3 powerstroke and that thing is loud i need to shut my truck off most of the times
Exactly is the worst when it echoes off the menu 😂
Good info. Gracias amigo
Nice vid good things to think about
How about a beefy ram bumper front n back.? Mudflaps?
Great Video, Beautiful Truck especially dem Rims, look like youre in the Central Valley somewhere
If you have a lb7 duramax which I own and mine has only 96k on it and its got the factory injectors which are well known to fail and be a major pain to replace
I know this video is old now, but the maintenance costs are not much more than a gas. I have a 2016 Silverado now with a 5.3 and the oil changes cost the same, the only extra expenses my duramax had over the 1500 was doing fuel filters every other oil change and the more expensive fuel
You won't be saying that after you have to replace a turbo, clean a clogged DPF or replace an EGR or SCR component. I could have put a new gas engine in my truck for what I've spent just maintaining the exhaust system...
Awesome truck
Is it mostly a street truck?
Sounds like you need a new truck. I just bought a 2021 gmc 1500 with the 3.0 duramax. Smaller engine = less oil, coolant = less cost. As far as letting it warm up. Remote start takes care of that. And finally mine has been driven 400 miles and used half a tank of fuel. The def tank is still full. The only down side is the maintenance cost. I will only let the dealer do it. I don't trust anyone else.
Can u do a interior n exterior review
I was gonna give this guy a hard time about these minor issues that happen with any daily drive vehicles, but he told me his problem… He’s from california
Add some videos of your Cummins interior.
This kid should be doing a review on a Prius .
Now are there any dam questions? Yeah, where can I get some damn bait?
You change your oil every 5,000 miles? You must be using shitty oil bro. Batteries, get deep cell batteries last twice as long. Coolant, Evan's coolant never change your coolant again. Gas costs, use an injector cleaner, that will help with gas usage in your engine
That's it!? Not bad at all. All vehicles should be maintained well. I just bought a 01 2500 cummins 4x4 5.9LHO 6speed.. I fuckin love it. But my duramax is still way faster 😂.
I know that’s why I have no problem daily driving this Cummins I love this thing too much!
A factory 6 speed is rare.
Yes it is! Its fun to drive and keeps me awake in traffic😂, looking to put a 5" straight pipe, and other shit as well, just gotta save up a little more, but even bone stock its very powerful 🙌
WHAW WHAW WHAW. Comes with territory that’s all minor stuff
i see no drawbacks to driving a 98 24 valve
Diesel is tech cheaper then gas when you compare it to a gas second gen. I have 4 gasser second gens and they get 9mpg city and 10-1.8 highway average my cummins gets 17 city and 24 highway
Diesel where I live is a lot cheaper then normal gas lol
All good except choice of adjectives
Shit regarding how he said diesels only 20-40 cents more than gas around him, most gas vehicles the average person drives take 87 , including my 318 ram, 87 around me (FL) is about a dollar or so cheaper than diesel at most places
in bc diesel is 20 to 30 cents cheaper a liter
Let US see inside
Duramaxes have glowplugs
Changing coolant every year? Seriously? Put in Semi coolant practically lasts forever.
Learning to do your own maintenance can make diesel maintenance cheaper than gas maintenance if you're paying someone else to do it
10-20k miles a years lol that’s cute
You say dam alot eh
Taxes on diesel suck balls
How?
@@SvoBrianRoblesbecause the federal government makes it so
This guy has really no clue about the maintenance on a cummins..must be his first and only diesel...
