  • My very first #slapchop with all ‪@TheArmyPainter‬ paints. Featured miniature is Vaelach by ‪@claycyanideminiatures‬ . Painting here is all The Army Painter Warpaints Fanatic and Speedpaints.
I am not a fan of slapchop in most cases, and in this video, I will tell you why.

using drybrushing as your undercoat is great for armors, stones and other non living things or very dark and harsh looking living things as it's perfectly shown in this video. Brigther contrasts/speedpaints stand no chance against black undercoat. The skin looks the worse with drybrushing undercoat imo and this is why I always use a zenithal priming when using speedpaints. All drybrushed minis look like they are statues :) When I'm in a need for speed, after I did the zenithal undecoat, take my opaque white paint, go over it with my brush on the upper parts where the light would hit the mini the most (forehead, upper cheeks, nosem sholders, upper chaest) to get that extra contrast and then I use my speedpaints. Have in mind that when you use white ink over black primer, the color you get is more gray than white and adding some entra white after, will brighter those parts that you like to bring more attantion too.

You do amazing work! I don't use an airbrush, this video was very helpful. I'll be painting an Old Dominion army soon and this aged bronze look is what I'm looking to imitate, so thanks!

This is good for a first try. I find what method works for me when I paint a miniature model I'll use it a lot. I got into stippling recently that helped me with some projects I was stuck on for years.
