using drybrushing as your undercoat is great for armors, stones and other non living things or very dark and harsh looking living things as it's perfectly shown in this video. Brigther contrasts/speedpaints stand no chance against black undercoat. The skin looks the worse with drybrushing undercoat imo and this is why I always use a zenithal priming when using speedpaints. All drybrushed minis look like they are statues :) When I'm in a need for speed, after I did the zenithal undecoat, take my opaque white paint, go over it with my brush on the upper parts where the light would hit the mini the most (forehead, upper cheeks, nosem sholders, upper chaest) to get that extra contrast and then I use my speedpaints. Have in mind that when you use white ink over black primer, the color you get is more gray than white and adding some entra white after, will brighter those parts that you like to bring more attantion too.

This is good for a first try. I find what method works for me when I paint a miniature model I'll use it a lot. I got into stippling recently that helped me with some projects I was stuck on for years.

I never would have thought to use sky blue as a base color for painting green skin, this approach would be great for an alien creature skin. I will make note of this.

One of my favourite colours to paint is green from three colours with some stages of them being mixed. I also like the blue basecoat build up to green simular with this Orc model. I have some more favourites, it depends on the faction and miniatures I paint? Then there's the quality of the paints and colours from certain brands where those favourite colours are from.

I always first spray metal colour varnish( that thing doesn't kill all shine of metals and it's rock hard after dry) . Then matt finish. If miniature has blood and guts, I will paint gloss varnish on them.

I just received my statue. Mine was green for the body and wings, the rest is dark grey. It has a matte feeling. So my question is, is it already primed? Can I start painting directly since it is already green?

My favorites have to be Ice yellow Dark Sea Blue Deck Tan Beige red Japanese Uniform A bit of a cheat, but Game Color compliments Model so well, but Nocturnal Red and Tan are also fantastic. I think now with the revision to both lines, much improved metallics over both, I don't see a reason to dip my toes into other paint lines. I think a good mix of Vallejo, Pro Acryl and some AK should be all I ever need

What you (and other tutorials) said about oils is pretty much the opposite of what I've found after actually trying them out on two large minis this week. Watched a ton of tutorials and expected to love it. Instead I found that while they blend easy, they go on splotchy looking even when being careful to try to be thin over thick etc... unless diluted to nearly a wash. If you blend them just a tiny bit too much all the color mixes and turns to a muddy meh look and/or leaving a fuzzy texture, ruining the work you already did. This made them super stressful to work with as at any moment you could take something from good, to bad with just a touch. They stay wet for so long that this can still happen hours later or even the next day. So unless you wait a day doing, highlights is a huge pain in the ass, because your highlight color can still mix when you apply it, ruining the brighter color. Plus you might need to blend it a bit to keep it from looking like blotchy textured shit. Overall the learning curve seemed really steep for learning how you touch, paint, blend etc... without ruining them. Was expecting to love them, and had they worked like all tutorials say they do I would have, but found it a lot more work and time for a lesser result. I've got one last attempt planned to give it another try to change my mind though, so we'll see if I can click with it
