I find Speedpaints better and better. And medium makes them behave like oils which os great too!
I totally love this chieftains Indian tribal look and the brown underpainting is something I have to try because I did very much enjoy your sepia technique.
Amazing video! Well done and a great tip.
Funny, I tried something similar for fun when I was testing my new primer and airbrush. Can't wait until the fanatic paint set releases, just using speedpaints was fun, but I want to push it a bit further now. :D
Ive been painting Knights of Gryphonne 40K Space Marines and they are orange so I have been using something like a brown slap chop undercoat on them because I heard browns make a good undercoat for oranges and it has worked quite well.
There are lots of terms applied to different underpainting, using brown for the underpainting/majority of the piece is "brunaille". Underpainting in general a great way to add unification to a painting before "getting started", takes advantage of semi-transparency in layers, and I believe does a much better job than a wash in uniting the colour scheme. Your method here shows how effective of a step it can be when used with simple painting techniques. Great job!
Always helpful videos and beautiful work. Awesome job, Don
Amazing Don. Every video you make is a masterpiece! What did you use for dry brush clean? Normal towel? Texture palette?
Amen brother for spreading the gospel of coloured underpaintings!
Another interesting underpainting video. Waiting for a video on using complementary underpainting like some artists who do it to get maximum contrast with their drawings and paintings; glazing over the complementary base.
Slapchop? It's Brownchop Time 😎
Inspiring vid. I might try this for my next project.
Sir don! basically in this video hindi po ako nalasing... Ala na shots sa word na basically... Kala ko pa naman ✌️😁
actually medyo matagal ko nang ginagawa itong brown undercoat para sa slapchop. :) depende sa gusto kong final look, pag mas maraming yellows and reds sa finish, then brown is better than a black undercoat.
Thanks Don!!
Did your AP Wet Palette come with a small plastic card on the lid, under the strap? I think this is intended to help smooth the palette paper when applying.
I looked on creature caster and I could not find this mini. Cool though!
I'd use an airbrush, though. DB leaves too much chalk on smal details. Good tutorial nonetheless!
That's not brown though.
