- The perfect food for camp depends on our individual taste, camp circumstances and weather. However with so much choice all one really needs is to be adventurous. Plain easy and out of the packet foods are great for lite hiking trips but if you doing a weekend camp in one location then why not make the most of the experience and cook to your heart content.
You will be surprised at the meals you can make over a fire.
We don’t always need heavy Dutch ovens to bake bread or cook that perfect stew.
A Dutch oven is awesome for cooking and baking but I have made bread over a fire without having to rely on the Dutch oven.
For me cooking has to be one of the main skills needed in bushcraft and outdoor wilderness skills. It’s the heart of any wild camp boosting moral and enhancing our experience outdoors.
The smoky flavours any food get infused with has too beat any other modern living cooking.
In this video I made a simple Dutch oven roll filled with crispy fried bacon salad, the perfect meal for a hot summers day.
You might have reservations in your ability to cook a meal and for sure you might fail a few times but so what! We all fail and that’s the whole part of learning. You will get better and your confidence will improve only to result in success and that feeling of achievement is worth every failed attempt.
Bushcraft is all about learning to survive and strive in the wilderness so cooking a meal is not only vital but essential for long term living outdoors. You need to be more creative to be able to cook food with less ingredients but still achieve a palatable meal that you can enjoy even though the ingredients you will have to hand are limited. Obviously here it was not the case but best to practice meal ideas that can give you more experience.
I do hope my videos inspire you to be adventurous and cook outdoors.
If you feeling generous and want to support the channel i would really appreciate it.

To be honest, I enjoy just about almost everything made and eaten outdoors! For those mosquitoes I use pyrethrin that I spray on my clothes and hat...and have a soaked scarf that I put around my dog, Otis, to help him out. Beautiful bread indeed! Take good care now and hope you have a wonderful week! Bruce and Otis
Thank you. And some awesome advice I’ll have to check pyrethrin out. ATB Alex
Now your showing off. Nice food.

Thanks Gray, I’ll defiantly be doing them again 💪
@@BeeOutdoors cheese scones were one of the best things I cooked in the Dutch oven.
Man! Now you talking, that sounds awesome. I’m pushing myself to do more baking in the Dutch oven, I’m thinking of getting a potjie pot just for the stews and a bigger Dutch oven for baking
@@BeeOutdoors u gotta try cheese scones. The recipe is in the description of this video. czcams.com/video/4BU22ak4snU/video.html don’t mix it too much.
I have mixed my own mozzy concoction and I have to say it works admirably. Avon skin so so soft, with sun tan lotion 50, citronella oil, lemon grass oil and peppermint oil....
Thanks for that tip, I’ll try anything that keeps them as far as possible 😅
I used to be digging trenches in Spain in +42 degrees. Now 15 degrees is unbearably hot😂. Lots of mosquitoes here, taken to using Avon skin so soft. Nordic Summer is a popular one round here if you would rather smell like a tree than a tarts handbag (pine pitch oil). That food looks amazing, but then again I expected that having experienced your camp cooking first hand.
Great video Alex
Thanks buddy, yea I think winter camp if more enjoyable
In your own words Alex I bloody love it 👍👍 cracking video mate the food looked amazing really enjoyed this one I use skin so soft but just ordered some Smidge atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
M8t you made my day, thanks buddy 💪
Just found your channel over on Adam T Outdoors' channel. Just subbed to support a fellow CZcams vlogger and outdoor lover. I love cooking with my dutch oven both over the campfire and with charcoal. I just made Dutch oven peach cobbler one night and chicken and biscuits the next night on my last camping trip. Both turned out so good! Can't wait for the weather to cool down a bit more on the east coast of the US to its a bit nicer to be by the fire. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thank you, awesome to have you here, we got a dedicated group on FB for outdoor creators should check it out. I’ll take a look at your videos when I get back home ATB Al
