I remember exactly one line of dialogue from this movie:
"Hickory dickory dock. The spy ran up the clock."
“The clock struck one, the spy was done.”
Ironically, Spy Kids 4 was actually my introduction to the franchise, I remember watching it in theatre when it came out
I am so sorry for you. Watch 1 and 2 and forget any other spy kids exist.
did you also have those scented cards that smelled disgusting
I didn’t watch in theaters but except for that I relate
Same mine was either this or spy kids 3
Well if you watch the movies in reverse order, the movies get better and better!
"Do you think God stays in heaven because he too is afraid of his creations here on Earth?"
Welcome to the franchise that created my first existential crisis.

13:45 Its especially funny since an anagram is a code. The kid just said "Its not a code, its a code"
Bruh
All things considered, I do praise this movie for giving us a rather good villain. The idea that this guy simply wanted to get back the time he lost he could be spending with his father is kinda touching. Plus I laughed way too hard when the goons took out the kid's hearing aid and they argued in sight language, complete with a "stop yelling at me!" sign and the villain saying "why did you take his hearing aid? What are we, monster?"
i really like that they had a disabled protagonist who was more than his disability. like take away the fact hes deaf, and hes still a character. or, well, as much of a character as any spy kids character. he isnt defined by his disability, but he still deals with the struggles and limitations of his disability
If you take a shot every time they make a time pun in this movie, you’ll die of alcohol poisoning.
Is that a challenge
this deserves top comment.

“Do your worst im ready for it” Alex was in fact not ready for it.
Narrator: "In fact he was not ready." 😂
I feel like it's important to note that this movie was advertised to be "in 4D". So certain theaters had special effects and scents that matched up with what was on screen. I never heard of another movie trying this out again
Omg I remember that, it was a small scratch and sniff card and a number would show on the screen that you had to smell
I begged my mom to take me to see it in 4D and the scratch n sniff had one circle for a FART! The number would flash on the corner of the screen to tell you which one to scratch
I’m not even kidding, this movie actually terrified me as a kid. After watching this in theaters, I had such a huge huge fear of death and aging for a long time that I would be sobbing every single day. It was so difficult to keep me calm each day. I have no idea why it impacted me this much, but this movie scarred me 😭
Honestly, that's how I feel now as an adult 😂 I loved the original spy kids but I'll probably steer clear of this one just for that angle, I dont need any more anxiety on this subject.

The waiting room sequence was actually my favorite in the whole movie. It's something I can imagine a bored kid left to his own devices doing. Eating the cereal, messing with the machines, pouring it on his head, and just vibing. No real reason behind it. Just because he can.
With the little girl with a whip spinning the woman scene all i could think about is "how is this little go so strong" and then though about the Shark Boy and Lava Girl thing if "SHES GOT SHARK STRENGTH"
"Are you offended? I don't care I'm an atheist. Are you offended?"
That's literally Ricky Gervais omg 😂😂😂
Thats what I thought the second he said it
TBF it IS a lot of fun to tease those US pretend 'religious' folks. they can be the most horrible people with the worst ideas, yet they think if they go to church once a week they're somewhat 'holy'. no wonder Ricky never lets off.
Best impression of Ricky I've ever heard😂
And don't forget "you can't say anything without offending people." Even though people just didn't find his jokes funny
Fucking crying over here. 😂😂
You're not allowed to lump Spy Kids 2 in with the bad ones, it has some of the funniest lines.
"How long have we been falling?"
"I don't know, my watch doesn't tell time."
“Best guess”
“I’d say about three hours”
“Feels like four”
Spy kids 2 is the best
I quote this all the time
I like one and two 😂
And Spy kids 1 I think was a good movie, even though it was silly, but I love the nostalgia I get from watching it.
Fun fact: the weird eating scene in the waiting room with there being the 3 versions of the one kid:
This film released in “4D” in cinemas/movie theatres. On top of 3D glasses, they had ‘smell cards’ you were supposed to scratch off at the right point in the movie. That was one of them.
@12:07 I can not only confirm that I saw Spy Kids 4 in theaters, but I saw it when it was Spy Kids 4D - the 4D being that it came with a scratch-n-smell card. You would scratch a number on the card that would correspond with a number on the big screen and you would smell what was on the screen. This scene was one of them and you could "smell" everything that he was getting into by using the card.
It worked exactly how you might imagine.

I'm surprised Alex doesn't like the second. Like, after that it was all downhill but I thought The Island of Lost Dreams was a solid followup to the first with tons of creativity that didn't come at the expense of a cohesive plot (also, compared to all the other big names in minor roles that just phone it in, Steve Buscemi legitimately played his role like he was trying to win an oscar)
the second one is the best one he's tripping
Yall are tripping if u didn’t like the mega race and mech fight in 3. Have some fun guys

While media does tend to be pretty inaccurate about how long birth takes, that time is pretty all over the place. When my mom had my older brother, she was in labor so long she ended up falling asleep between contractions, but when I came along it was over in just a few hours.
I was born in like 12 minutes or less lol
My parents said that my mom went in, my dad went to take care of the paperwork and stuff, then the nurse came back to talk to him. He was like "Will she have to spend the whole night here?" and the nurse said "Oh, no need. The baby is already born" 😭😭😭

-Pregnant step mom at the beginning of the movie
-The fact that the robot dog existed
-The time theme for the bad guys
-“That’s not due until Friday.” “It *is* Friday.” (I don’t remember who was talking, but I remember that exchange for some reason)
-A “sad” moment of time speeding past Jessica Alba while she holds a baby and a tear rolls down her eye
-Bits and pieces from the trailers
-“Baby’s first steps!” *baby flips over a grown man* “Baby’s first bad guy!”
-The scene of Juni putting Carmen’s finger in her nose and taking a photo (which is honestly something a brother would do in that situation)

I'm pretty sure that before, he had one of the musical abs
Fun fact about the actor for Juni. He actually voiced the main character from one of my most favorite show Generator Rex, Rex Salazar.
Created by the same studio that made Ben10, Man of Action and based on the comic series M.Rex ......in my opinion, its much better written than any season after Alien Force. I honestly think its because the Cartoon Network boardroom were foaming at the mouth about everything and anything Ben10 and left the Studio and the original writers tf alone to make Generator Rex.
Hope his VA knows that people are out there that fucking loved what he and the studio brought to Rex and his story.
Dont worry, we remember.
You did good guy.
No way! I knew he had a cameo in _Machete_ but I didn't know he voiced Rex. That's so cool!
How do these movies exist? Robert Rodriguez comes up with an idea for a kids movie, calls up his friends, they film it in his back yard with a bunch of green screens, and then he edits and scores it.
I remember watching it in the cinema. It was in "4D" which meant we got scratch cards with numbers that you were supposed to scratch when the number appeared on the screen. It then revealed the smell in that scene. All I remember were the candy and the dog's fart
Had the same, and what I remember was a lot of puke
Me too! In hindsight, no wonder this never took off.
I don't recall the smells, I feel like dirty diaper was one of them? It was so long ago, purged it from my memory lmao
Wasn't Hollywood first crack at Smell-o-vision. Scent of Mystery from 1960 released to an abysmal reception with people complaining about the film's underground sewage sequence for obvious reasons. The fact this was first experimented with on an Elizabeth Taylor movie and then attempted a pathetic comeback in Spy Kids 4 of all things is hilarious!

Spy Kids 4 was the first movie I ever saw in the theaters, and it felt like a fever dream. The movie had scenes with numbers on them and we had to rub the number on the scent cards we were given before the movie afterwhich you could smell whatever was mentioned in the scene.
The smell of farts and candy still rot in my brain to this day.
I saw spy kids 4 playing on Disney channel
how the genuine fuck did they get away with that
Like I’m commenting again because what
Who what-
Why did anyone think that was a good idea????
@@peterwilliams2887 well, it was unique and that already could make more profit from the movie because people were curious how it works out
I’m sure someone mentioned it but a major part of this films marketing was the “4-D” experience. So in addition to being a 3D movie, when you went to see the film you got a sheet of scratch and sniff paper which was numbered and those numbers corresponded with what was going on in the scene. So for example, at 12:00 the scene in theatres had numbers pop up on the screen that went with the snacks he was eating.
I vividly remember that because I was so pumped for the movie for that reason, but then a lot of the smells were so dull that you couldn’t get anything and it just took me out of the movie. Left very unsatisfied.
You need to track down I'm in the Band -- it was a DisneyXD show, which made it a little "edgy" for the kiddos. Tripp Campbell (Logan Miller) becomes the lead guitarist for an 80's metal band. Crazy goofy, but we loved it! (And for the record, I was in labor for 50 hours -- hence our daughter is an only child.)
I don’t know if this was the case in other theatres at the time, but they advertised the movie as a 4D (I think) and the gimmick was they’d hand you a little scratch card with scent, explaining all the barfing and weird “yucky?” stuff. From what I remember the smells were not pleasant 😅😂
I couldn't even work it correctly 😩

That would have been an AWESOME twist, actually. I was expecting that too while watching this review but unfortunately CZcams commenters are way more creative than the writers of this movie :\
I remember when this came out. It was supposed to be a "4D" movie. They gave us a little card with numbers on it and when specific things happened in the movie, we scratched the numbers on the card to "smell" the candies or the vomit smell at the appropriate times. To make it more immersive I guess lol. There were like 10 different smells. Crazy times, dudes.
