The Rodriguez children’s film genre is so unique bc his children were a part of his process… he wanted to make films that acknowledge and empower children, and if that’s the theme of the genre… I’d say he killed it. Fun Fact: This wasn't originally going to be a Spy Kids film. Robert Rodriguez initially didn't want to do a 3rd movie. He instead had come up with an idea for a science fiction movie about a group of kids going inside a video game, getting stuck in the video game, and it being in 3-D. However, he realized that setting up the characters and the world of that film was gonna be a nightmare. So he decided to instead make it the 3rd Spy Kids film as he figured that concept would've fit perfectly in the Spy Kids world

Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn also made Clooney and Hayek big stars so they said that they kind of owed it back. Rodriguez also had built a studio in his own home, allowing good box office returns. There was so many scheduling conflicts, that Antonio filmed everything by himself and others were paired off for the same reason. And the reason Grandpa looks janky, was because the actor is in a wheelchair irl, so they made a rig to fit the chair and lift him up and down so the actors could pretend he was standing and have an eye line. I think Robert Rodriguez has a lot of respect in the industry. One big reason that apparently he’s a really nice guy, and is really passionate about movie making. Apparently he was offered a bigger budget for spy kids 2 but actually chose to go with a smaller budget as he felt he was more creative with less money because it meant he was limited with ways in which he could make the process easier. It helps him think outside the box. It’s a big reason that the first Saw movie did so well, as James wan (and Leigh whanell) had such a small budget that they had to come up with creative ideas to make the movie work.

The Toymaker realized he would rather let Grandpa Cortez come to meet him and face punishment despite his mental instability and emotional conflicts, and helped the players reach him in the end.
Demetra was able to break free from her programming and help Juni and his team...well because she liked him I guess, I dunno

The Elijah Woods cameo is the only part of this movie that I still find funny as an adult.
Also, fun fact: There's a channel called DinksterDaily that uploads the same clip of Bill Paxton saying "Did somebody ring the Dinkster?" every single day, without fail. They've been at it for *seven years.* They're currently up to 2,758 uploads.

This movie has amazing actors because it was stacked with a bunch of Hispanic!/Latino actors. It was being a kids/family series of movies that also had minorities as the leads. Something Disney just shoehorns in to their movies, but spy kids did it way before them and made it feel natural. The small budget is also why a lot of it was filmed in green screens, the behind the scenes of how they did the shots is really interesting.

i mean it's also just Robert Rodriguez asking for his friends to be part of a passion project meaning it's way more chill and for fun than serious buisness. a lot of these stars are taking home smaller paycheck than they usually would even for just a cameo.
i don't get why people look so down on these movies. yes they are stupid they are intentioally stupid for the jokes. and it's jokes that work for kids who as it happens are the audience.

Best part of this is realizing that when I watched this movie in theaters I had _no idea_ about practically any of these actors or why it would be a big deal for them to be in a movie. When I was a kid this was just a fun silly movie they made for kids to have fun with wacky 3D movie technology. Now I personally appreciate a lot of those actors, and, uh... they really acted to the movie, huh? Like, wow, they knew exactly what movie they were in. And I enjoyed it as a kid but it is _hilarious_ now.

4:53 Robert Rodriguez got all those A-List actors because he had directed them all before, and he is a fantastic person and director to work with. Clooney is in From Dusk Til Dawn; Hayek, Buscemi and Banderas are in Desperado, and he directed Sin City which has basically every A-List actor from that time. If you haven't seen any of his other movies, YOU NEED TO!!!
