Hopefully, Della will eventually tell Webby to call her “Aunt Della” in Season 3.
We finally have Della! Fans now are asking who is the boys’ father? I’m asking, who are Webbie’s parents!? Why is she being raised by her granny? Are they active secret agents? Please reboot! Tell us!!
Webby still strikes me as the same shy girl she was in the original series. Only big change to her is her abilities as an adventurous person. She still struggles deeply with social interaction and understanding her place in the mcduck family. Maybe im just looking at it wrong, but it seems like only the outside has really changed, and i love that they are using that to explore her a bit deeper then what was originally done.
Della’s totally adopted Webby as her fourth kid XD
I didn’t even notice the pilot hat...lol...but I love how they showed that there is a method to Launchpad’s madness like with the gum being the best solution to the smoke filling up the cabin. To me it showed that what Launchpad lacks in skill he makes up for in instincts.
So much respect for Paget Brewster, who is absolutely killing it as Della Duck.
It's a shame you didn't go into Cornelius Coot that much, but it's fine, since you went into aspects of this episode that interested you and a few things even I didn't realize. For the record, in the comics, not only is Cornelius Coot the founder of Duckberg, in one Don Rosa comic, it's stated that he's the grandfather of Donald's grandma, making him a member of the Duck family! He also formed the Junior Woodchucks. Neither of these were mentioned in this episode, so it's unclear if these apply to the reboot version of Cornelius Coot.
1 year later and this is the most recontextalized episode of Ducktales yet. Thank you finale.
It's called an "aviator hat" or "bomber hat".
Hmm so maybe this how Launchpad actually becomes a good pilot in the Dark Wing Duck series? I always wondered why he didn't crash when he as Dark Wing's side kick. And maybe this is how he also learned to be a good mechanic and engineer? Remember he designed and built the Thunderquack.
I do love how their ancestor defeated the Beagles with popcorn.
I really enjoyed the subplot with Della and Launchpad. Not only was it fun seeing their differing ways of treating the plane, but I can also kind of relate to each character's side of the situation (i.e. doing a task differently than how somebody else would). Oh yeah, and seeing Launchpad wear his classic pilot cap was a nice touch. All he needs is a scarf and it'd be complete.
I loved Webby and Della bonding in this episode.
No mention on how the Beagles fit in? Big Time being discarded by the gang for his incompetence only to save them in the end was rather similar to what went on with Launchpad.
I hope there's a more in-depth solo bonding episode between Della and Webby in Season 3.
I felt the episode's payoff really brought the spirit of the original Uncle Scrooge comic stories. There's just something about the weaponry being something so mundane, yet brilliantly implemented that seems like a Barks story element.
Corn
This was a great episode and an amazing insight on Della’s relationship with Webby and with Launchpad.
I laughed so hard when I figured out why it was called the Golden armory. Off note, they still haven't answered who was crazy enough to want to date let alone have kids with Della duck?
That's a great observation between of how Launchpad, and Della work as characters and what they know about piloting. Della has had way more experience in flaying planes, and how to fix them properly than Launchpad could ever hope to achieve. Yet, Launchpad is so oblivious, and full of pride that never took a good hard, look at himself, and how wrong his approach to piloting, and taking care of a plane. Also, he probably used his sister's chewing gum to 'glue' the wings in place. (Perhaps A very subtle nod the the episode 'Top Duck'. Not nearly as big a nod as the mind cart, but still a nod.) Also, I never noticed that Launchpad's now wearing a traditional pilot's cap until now. Probably because it looks slightly different him his cap in the original series, and by this point we've been use to seeing him wearing the baseball cap that a different had would seem a bit off, but it still works.
