That means that time period had to complete at least one time without Gyro.

The price landed at Donald's house and he found the secret room and used the stuff there to steel some of Scrooge's money from under his nose. There was a police showdown and after some stuff he became good and though he occasionally took a not so good path he is quite the hero. Gyro made his gear, his secret lair and a pill that makes gyro forget everything after they are done working together. Daisy also has a her persona, called Phantomime and there is this designer (Harriet Hen I think is her name) who makes all of Daisy's weapons and made her costume. There are currently 28 full volumes of 300+ pages just with stories of him in Germany. As Agent DoubleDuck he fights crime bosses all over the world with his partner Kay K. Their direct boss is someone called Jay J, and I think the boss of The Organization is Donald himself, but another him (I haven't read them in a long time, so I don't remember how that works). And last but definetely not least he is a monster fighter for the Organisation to disperse of Monster of All kinds, short O.M.A. (this is a loose translation I made, the fun thing is that the Acronym O.M.A. means grandma) his partner there is his cousin Feathry and they are up against all kinds of monsters. Scrooge is too cheap to pay for his agents, so his nephews have to do it and encounter some pretty weird super villains while doing so. As compared to the O.M.A. stories (the organisation is called "Tamers of nonhuman Threats" or TNT in English, btw.) , and especially the Double Duck stories these stories only have a very loose continuity.
Also, there are American comics published that have some stories with Fethry and all of Donsad's awesome occupations. The comics are just not very popular and the magazine thry have been published in switches publisher every few years, it seems.

Funny thing about John D. Rockerduck is that he's kind of a composite character of his comic book counterpart and his father, Howard Rockerduck, who actually WAS around during the time of the Old West, whereas John was around 10 at the time. Also, Howard was a honest tycoon (if that's even possible, IMO), whereas John Rockerduck is... well, pretty much how he is here. Also in the comics, John D. Rockerduck INHERITED his fortune, rather than earning it like Scrooge did, so he has less of an appreciation for this wealth, which I think is a good dynamic to have.

But still, I feel Disney and the writers have been ignoring Scrooge lately and put more focus on those kids now, which is started to get annoying to me. Here in Brazil, we have as the usual main antagonist in Scrooge’s Comics not Glumgold, but rather Rockerduck, he acts as Scrooge’s main rival in the search for treasures and money, using dirty tactics to surpass Scrooge(and sometimes Scrooge does that as well), just to you have an idea, much of my friends don’t even know Glumgold, but they’re all know Rockerduck as the main Scrooge’s villain.

Scrooge's main backstory in Bark's comics was that he was a honest self made man. Glamgold was a self made man too, but utterly dishonest, and Rockerduck was besically honest, if a bit arrogant, but was born rich and didn't have to earn a single penny (which made him a big spender, also in contrast to Scrooge's stinginess). In the end Barks found Glamgold a more compelling antagonist and dropped Rockerduck.
In Europe they dropped Glamgold and had Rockerduck pick up some of his traits, so he ended up being rich because family, big spender, but also not a stranger to shady tactics to win the competitions with Scrooge.
I legitimately wonder if Barks dropped Rockerduck because harping on honest family riches doesn't work well in America, and the Europeans dropped Glamgold because, being in the comics a South African Boer rather than a Scotsman, he came with lots of messy political and colonial overtones, even if the character himself never put any weight on that.

I wonder how many people realize this episode is a spoof of the 60's series, The Wild Wild West.
    Scrooge McDuck = James West
    Gyro Gearloose = Artemis Gordon
    Marshall Cabrera = Tennyson
John D. Rockerduck = Dr. Miguelito Quixote Loveless
Jeeves = Loveless' giant associate Voltaire
Goldie O'Gilt = Loveless' singing associate Antoinette

  • @Buffy8Fan

I like that Scrooge isn't focused on heavily. Leaves room for the fact that he (at least to me) should feel mysterious in his past. All the questions the other characters have being unanswered and only focusing on his present is perfect. Just the occasional episode like this has always been fine by me.

My guess is why we don't see Rockerduck in the US, is because of the Rockerfellas families and how they would react to this.

I just went through the upcoming episodes on the Ducktales Wiki. I got to “The Duck Knight Returns” and read the episode description. “When Scrooge and Dewey make a gritty Darkwing Duck movie” Ok, so far so good, it’s playing on the fact Darkwing is a fictional character in this world. Then I read the second part of the episode description. “Launchpad teams up with the original Darkwing to stop it.” OHMYHOLYCHEETOS I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY

So, the 3 main story arcs for Season 2 are the Louie Inc. one, the Scrooge vs. Glomgold bet and the one involving Della on the Moon. But, wasn't there also a cliffhanger that showed a giant, carnivorous plant coming back to life? Whatever happened to that?

Actually, I'd say this is really par for the course when it comes to Scrooge. While he's not above using deception or taking advantage of someone else's ignorance or needs, Rosa and Barks long established that he hated the idea of cheating or scamming anyone to make a quick buck.

The Rockerduck character confused me as there was a similarly named character in a by now obscure media of the Disney Afternoon. In an old read along cassette tape of Darkwing Duck, his foe was an original villain named Frequencia who used song frequencies to hypnotize people and steal their riches. One of her victims was a doweger by the name of Joan D. Rockefeather--hence my confusion with Rockerduck

Maybe it's just me but, I feel like I've seen this version of Rockerduck somewhere else before. I know it's not from the original Ducktales as I have yet to see more than one episode of that, but I'm not sure which show I've seen him on before. The only other show where he might have appeared that actually has Scrooge in it from time to time was Mickey's House of Mouse show. Any ideas Mr. Seanicus? Also as a heads up I'm an American.

will i did enjoy the episode i'm a little disappointed that rockerduck was just use as a one time antagonist instead of a recurring one, since i live in italy (but i like to watch cartoons in english online) i’m more used to se rockerduck as scrooge rival, they could at least have him eat his hat from the anger of the lost.

This was actually the first episode aside from maybe "Daytrip of Doom!" that I really didn't care for. My biggest problem is how Louie's character backslides, both in terms of his loss of momentum as a businessman and his willingness to completely disregard Scrooge's advice.
That said, I had other problems too. The Old West Gizmoduck didn't work for me - maybe if Gyro had helped build it, but for it to just kind of happen? No thanks. Second, I thought Rockerduck didn't get enough screentime to be an interesting antagonist. Finally, Goldie's voice sounded weirdly off to me - I assumed it was someone trying to imitate Allison Janney until I got to the credits.

Personally, I hate the Goldie and Scrooge romance. Look, I'm not the biggest fan of romance in any sort of medium, but this kind of love is the worst. It's Catwoman and Batman all over again; there is no real reason for Batman/Scrooge to care for Goldie/Catwoman beyond feeling lonely. This means that Batman/Scrooge love the companionship and not the actual person. How is that supposed to develop into a good relationship? Add to that the fact that Goldie and Catwoman are both CRIMINALS and the whole thing becomes a mess of WHY? Why them?
