Nope, the T rex is closer to modern day than it is to Stegosaurus. A T rex running through the streets of Chicago is more chronologically accurate than a T rex attacking a Stegosaurus. Time is insane to think about at long distances.
Additional fin fact: Sharks are older than trees.
My favourite example is that the pyramids are older to cleopatra than cleopatra is to us in the modern day.
40k and Halo have similar issues of "we have a lot of time to work with but we never use it"

I say the Votan should've been a HERETICAL mesh of the Mechanicus & Sisters.
Meaning they would be Full Conversion Cyborgs with AI - whom they pray to, as it hosts their Ancestors "Souls" (aka downloaded brains).
And all Psykers while united are immune to Warp shenanigans and have actually modified their Cybernetics/Technology specifically to channel the Warp.
Then their Unique ability could be them chanting in unison to Summon their Ancestors into battle.
*That "Summoning" and those "Ancestors" being a Rift opeing and a bunch of Men-of-Iron (with their actual Ancestors minds downloaded into them) spilling out onto the battlefield.
I feel like the vulkan he'stan plotline is going to merge with the "golden throne is knackered" plotline. The golden throne will be about to break down, and he'stan will find the last doo-dah. Vulkan will return, and use all of he'stan's artifacts as parts to repair the golden throne.
(then he'll probably get his head kicked in by whichever traitor primarch they bring back at the same time)
In Renegades: Harrowmaster, there’s actually a hilarious part where there’s a semi-loyalist warband and every other Alpha Legionaire is just like “yeah, fuck those guys”.

after being a made an Alpha Legion fan when I first started reading 40k beginning with the Horus Heresy (Legion is such a good book), I was so starved for more... Harrowmaster definitely pulled me back in, the Alpharius primarch book was pretty good too.

The fuck? Dude I'm an Eldar fan and I lift as much as dark gods although I'm quite fluffy at the moment at 250lbs. Although I'm pretty strong I deadlift 4 plates. Although I've got really long arms and short legs.

Personally, I think any story or plot point revolving around clones is shabby writing. It's essentially an alternative kind of fan service where they bring back a character and say "oh what if things were different??" And it never ends well because how could it?

I think the fact that the Tyranids let the ship go just to have one lictor infiltrate the fortification on baal and destroy a generator is kinda dumb. I think an entire space ship is worth more than destroying one defensive line on one of the planets. I did like most of the of the book however.

NGL I'm surprised you guys are as meh about the sphere expansion. The shadowsun book about it was pretty good. That and it lacks many of the complaints you had about the plot not going or able to go anywhere. Also if it's scale that matter is Ensinhorn: xenos have a bad plot because it covers a small section of imperial space?
Magnus did some really dumb things but at least he was trying to make the imperium a better place to live. I do actually feel bad for the thousand sons themselves though because most of the stupid stuff was Magnus acting alone.
Also I hate that they keep stating Lemon as only pretending to be a barbarian but is actually super smart and have him make some of the dumbest short sighted decisions.

its funny listening to them complain about how the year spans dont make since in 40k like idk maybe it was created to be inherently stupid because it was created as a satire XD and also because a lot of the numbers in 40k make zero since because they are just throwing big numbers out randomly. (this is one of the reasons I like 40k because its dumb not in spite of it)
