In regards to the First Skaven Civil War (Council of 13 vs Clan Pestilens) it was essentially a 400 year stalemate that was only broken cause Clan Eshin returned from the east and started assassinating various leaders aligned with Clan Pestilens. Even then Clan Pestilens just basically went "Fine, truce-truce. We'll settle for a seat on the council" and then proceeded to take said seat by walking into Skavenblight (surviving multiple assassination attempts along the way) and murder-biting the weakest councilmember. Just imagine some guy covered in shit/pus/vomit/flies walks into a board room, chomps the neck of the dude closest to the door, sits on his corpse, drops a box of donuts on the table and then asks "So what are we doing next quarter?". You've been trying to get rid of this dude for like 500+ years and now this is your everyday life. What's worse you're pretty sure he's gonna ask to borrow a pen and you know you'll NEVER see that thing again.
Pestilens in general is kinda underbaked in game 3. Plague monks need to either be brought down to tier 2 and 3 for censer bearers or made significantly more powerful. Skrolk should also probably be a fair bit tougher and do more damage in melee.
So Ikit is actually a wizard. Most of the lore around how he’s got magical power is that he uses devices as an excuse because non-grey seer casting is heresy. He’s stolen and robbed magical secrets from the Lizardmen, high elves, and a lot of mankind and as a result learned how to control magic.
Also Clan Pestilens got their seat on the council because Eshin returned and proceeded to do loads of assassinations. As a result more and more Skaven started to turn back from their allegiance and so Nurglitch showed up with a load of bio weapons and threatened them to get a seat.
If I remember correctly (I'm talking 3rd edition here) Ikit not only is a wizard but one the most powerful in existence, one of the only 3 level 5 casters in the game along with teclis and nagash, and the only one in the game who could pick his spells from all the lores of magic
Ah yes, when I think of which Skaven I would want to watch my back in a dark alley, I wonder why Tretch is coming in last. Probably because he's the one that would stab me in the back, whether I asked him to be there or not.
Queek was raised on a steady diet of assassins though. Stealth is something Queek doesn't have much issue with, for multiple reasons, and that is Sniktch's whole advantage negated. Take that away and Sniktch can't/won't fight Queek: Queek wins.
Skrolk really looks at bombastic and destructive displays of Warp Lightning and other tricks and cantrips of the Grey Seers and Warlock Engineers and just shrugs, countering it all with "Hocus-pocus, you now have late-stage tuberculosis." Or "I wish you a very merry dysentery."
Throt hasn't died because he's basically stolen a Troll's regenerative ability, the guy is also one of the oldest Skaven to exist for this reason, the guy is a patchwork horror and if I recall he has Strength 5 in the army books, which for a Skaven is fucking huge.
i mean, if we're talking skaven lore generally not just the ones in total war, probably skreetch verminking would be the number 1, followed by a couple of the other verminlords. Hope we get to see some big boi rat greater deamons in game at some point
If I recall about 80% of all Skaven in the Hell Pit are directly related to Throt so he’s made great use of that long life he has and the warpstone steroid stamina.
I am very excited for the follow up multiplayer campaign where you, Tactical Lich, and other buds play as skaven LL's and proceed to be most honorable in your dealings with each other...
About lord skrolk not taking the whole world for him. Remember theere is an even bigger rat in clan pestilence. The clans lord of decay was the reason for why skrolk lost his eyes. Apparently skrolk saw the pestilential aura of his master ones and couldn’t stand it, ripping his eyes out of his skull
I feel like of the individuals on this list, only the Deathmaster or Ikit could really have any chance of killing Skrolk and that's by playing to their strengths with sabotage (perhaps just a massive amount of fire bombs like the empire port) or a superweapon which means they don't have to get close. That's also assuming Skrolk doesn't just manage to plague them anyway as plague magic in lore seems to have no particular concern for line of sight. In a straight fight against anyone on this list he just wins, if memory serves his Censer oneshot a Carnosaur in lore before (Rip Grimlock) so while some of the faster melee fighters on the list might avoid it for a while, they're going to have a bad time if they get hit and his aura just has to slow them down enough to get smashed.
Snikich would easliy kill skrolk even if he died later from the effects of plauge. Even better if he was provided woth amulets protecting him from the plauge which is a even nightlord could easly get for snikich

He's very good in a fight and possibly the best assassin in fantasy (Oxyotyl could probably contest the title) but assassination is something most skaven prepare against and Skrolk has hacks which make him better suited at it than most (keep in mind that any skaven who looked like they could be easily assassinated would have been dead years ago just as a matter of principle). I'm also curious if the weeping blade poison would actually kill him given incredible survivability especially against toxins and disease is kind of a staple for nurgle aligned forces. I'm also unclear on how the amulets function and if they're effective against Skrolk's book. It's all well and good to try fight Skrolk with an amulet warding off plague until he uses the voodoo book to simultaneously give you whooping cough, smallpox, tuberculosis, malaria and gangrene along with aids for good measure. I think it's worth noting that Skrolk is the only one on the list beyond maybe Ikit who is likely to get a kill post mortem although without something to protect against the plague I don't think he's dying first. (If memory serves, one of those basically instantly killed a carnosaur in the times we don't speak of) Snikich's style is slow, patient and cautious until the moment comes but Skrolk has magic which can strike at a far longer range and can't be snuck up on anywhere near as easily. He passively kills you by proximity but if he gets a plague ritual going against you, he could be sending diseases from across Skavenblight which you might not notice before it's too late.
Mazdamundi is a easy pick for the lizardmen, his magic is crazy strong. Now for the empire, who knows, there's so many characters and lots of fanservice (even to this day I don't understand their supposed appeal. Humanity in 40k does look cool and over the top, but humans in Fantasy looks boring)

love the plague guys. like storm vermin in the game are better to have cause you just want line holders in the late game and they have better armor and shields but in skaven slayer plauge monks were the only line troops to almost beat gotrek(although be it via being under a frenzy spell)

Mainly because these should be accounted for 'Head to Head' not 'Assassin does assassin things. Therefor he beats Queek if not seen.' Maybe 8/10 times Deathmaster beats Queek if we take that into account but throw them both into an Arena, I'm fairly certain Queek comes out on top due to his experience, feats and well, his armor compared to Deathmaster. It's really ANYONES game but I think placing him above Queek is highballing him a littttttle much but like I said either can take the others spot.
I think tretch was put in the game precisely to have the weakest possible character available. Its good to have a "challenge" option and there are many people who tremendously enjoy just seeing dogshit underdogs suceed over much stronger opponents

Queek personality wise is still better, as is Thanqoul; but they arent going to do much to Snikich power-scale wise; Queek could never see Snikich coming owed to the Cloak of Shadows that "magicaly conceals the wearer perfectly"

Ikit literally leads a team that blows up the Black Pyramid of Nagash in the End Times, essentially stopping him from being even more powerful than the Chaos Gods, but sure, he's shit.....
What makes Ikit important is intelligence, not raw power. While he is strong, his real power is that he's a mega-genius with access to insane technology. He's basically the Skaven Iron Man (or Iron Rat).
i hate useless pointless lore. soo all lore. i wish games would just focus on the game and not literally pay people to type up nonsense lore. i would rather alot less lore or back story budget and just put the $$ in the game. and it goes for all games. same with skins or cosmetics. but at least those have somewhat of a purpose. lore is just cringe
