Killua told Ikalgo “there’s a difference between risking your life and throwing it away” and that’s the difference between Kurapika and Gon. Kurapika, and the rest of the characters in the arc including Killua, were risking their lives in that war, while Gon, at the end with Pitou, threw his life away because he reached an extremely low point with his self worth. It’s not supposed to be a big typical shounen victory, it’s supposed to be a tragedy.

Gon Sacrificed EVERYTHING for that power, in his words "I don't care anymore, I want to kill Pitou".
He didn't care about his life, his nen, his friends, his family, the world, THE KING, he cared about absolutely NOTHING at that point except killing Pitou.
Gon has NEVER been normal, Its hard to notice sometimes but He is willing to sacrifice his arm to prove a point vs the bomber. he thinks losing his arm vs pitou is a good thing, he praised the con man for being a con man, he became friends instantly with an assassin kid who snatches hearts. Second, how'd you agree with me / the thread and then disagree with me in the same comment.
Lastly, No, Gon is definitely not a normal kid by any means at all. No normal kid is like "let me blow my arm off to test my skills against this mass murdering bomber... even though we have a plan to capture him already".
That's just ONE of his thoughts. Another could be how dude just grazes through SO MANY PEOPLE BEING MURDERED/KILLED in the Hunter Examination.
Or How about when he's captured by the spiders and he's just chill? Gon is a type of __path, I'm not sure which but he's been hinted at since the start of the anime with the bears and finally comes to fruit here. He decides what is "right" or "good" by how interesting he finds it at that point. Period.
So if one of the cards in greed island murders everyone within a 50 yard radius, but has sparklers. Gon might find that "amazing and colorful" and there-forth really cool to see. Meanwhile everyone is dying painfully.

    • @MrTVx99
      @MrTVx99 Před 7 měsíci +2

Gon always tries to find the best in people. No matter what they do, he tries to just forgive them. It's a very childish mentality and is very frustrating to watch sometimes but it makes his scene all the more powerful. Gon just broke, he had enough, there was no forgiveness left in him. Pitou was just taking advantage of Gon's niceness and Gon broke and wanted to make Pitou pay for it. And that, she did.

Yuta Nakamoto u don’t have to necessarily rage to get the power. You just have to make a contract they explained it with kurapika the more strict your contract the stronger your nen is. Even gon said “I don’t care if this is the end” he really didn’t rage the power out of himself like say goku for instance he made a contract with himself saying he’s prepared to never use nen again. Killua could do the same thing same with everyone else that has nen as long as it’s strict they can acquire a lot of nen power. Without ever raging or even being mad.

Rob saying “why didn’t he [gon] save it for the king though” proves his lack of empathy, understanding, and straight up analytical skills. Safe to say, hxh is not a show for people like this. (Tho of course it doesn’t necessarily mean he can’t enjoy it) In the process of the show developing Killua’s character, Gon’s was a rock the whole time. Only being revealed from time to time as incredibly dangerous. He doesn’t care about what’s right or wrong, what matters to him is his curiosity, AND his emotions. He’s extremely selfish and that’s exactly what makes him human. It’s what makes him an incredible protagonist.
He didn’t turn in to his future form just because of willpower, he needed a catalyst. The uncontainable rage he got from learning that Kite’s indeed dead literally made him go psycho. He didn’t know what was right or wrong anymore. It’s what thirsting revenge fueled by intense rage does to you. You can’t expect him to think logically in this situation.
Nen has been explained from the start to be conditional. The same way Kurapika received his ability to be unbeatable from spiders, Gon was able to “skip” time and training itself to become his prime form by sacrificing his ability to use nen (essentially, his life), in exchange.

Gon made a condition where he could be to a point where he can body pitou with the sacrifice of his nen.Its a condition just like what kurapika did on his chains. Also, Pitous was showing gratitude to Gon because he used this power on her instead of the king as she's trying to protect him from all threats. ALSO the reason pitou came back up and attacked gon is because yes SHE was dead, But because of her devotion to the king and protecting him it activated her power which is because of nen after death. Her Nen amplified after death on pitou with the sole purpose of killing gon.Oh and btw. Not everyone would get to Gon's level if they sacrificed decades of their life for power.Remember gon is a one of a kind in nen.

Gon even says he's like Kite when he lost his arm though, reading the subtitles isn't *that* deep.

@@halosaft It's not that. Wells didn't point out that he lost his arm like Kite. He pointed out that Gon probably did that on purpose instead of it being an accident. That's what OP is getting at. This distinction was not made in the sub titles. Ironic you miss the context. Either that or you didn't watch their commentary all the way through at the end to get the full context when Wells brought this up.

@@PhoenixAttact That's hinted at in the subtitles by Gon saying he feels redeemed a little after he lost his arm. Because he got the same treatment Kite got.
And I wouldn't be able to respond to your childishly snide second half of that comment because I don't know whether I watched it all or not. This was a comment made over a year ago.

The guys on the ends, especially Rob are the most insightful. Kurapika did put his future on the line with his nen. 1 second of emporer time= 1 hour taken from his lifespan. He's used over 9 hours in his pursuit of revenge/justice, 3.7 years. Also, Kite did warn them what they were getting into and when he realized the opponents true level ordered them to dip. It was his fault for misjudging the situation but showed accountability by sacrificing himself for their escape. It was then on them when they chose to return.
